The new recording features 8 new songs and 4 interpretations including ‘God only Knows’,True Colors’, and ‘Lift the Wings’ from Riverdance. Recorded live in the studio with some of Ireland’s finest players, this album of soulful performances showcases Eleanor’s bluesier neo-retro style.

The new single “Ache in my heart” is track number 5 on the record and will be released on iTunes on April 12th.

THE HOT SPROCKETS ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE: SOUL BROTHER + NATIONWIDE TOUR DATES

Soul Brother CoverJust in time for Record Store Day April 20th 2013, The Hot Sprockets will release ‘SOUL BROTHER’ Single (April 19th official iTunes release date). Hailing from the delta blues mecca that is…Dublin. They are five friends who came together with a shared love of Rock N’ Roll music.

A phenomenal live band, recent years has seen these smart blues-rockers play over 200 gigs including support slots with The Zutons, The View, Divine Comedy, Ida Maria, Peter Hook, Republic of Loose, BP Fallon and a rake of festivals including Indie-Pendence, Castlepalooza, Sea Sessions, Vantastival, Arthurs Day, Mannifest, Electric Picnic, a sold out show at The Roundhouse in London and headlining Whelans “One to Watch” festival.

Their music has been used on everything from Bulmers ad campaigns to BBC’s comedy “Fresh”, Irish film “Stitches” and RTE’s “RAW”. The band recently beat off 1000’s of bands to make it to the Hotpress “Play on the Day” final and got to grace the cover of Hotpress magazine. The bands video for “Cruisin’” was nominated for “Best video” & “Best group” at the Irish Music Television Awards.

The Hot Sprockets are living up to their early promise and stunning debut album (Honey Skippin’) by recording a mighty (yet unnammed) second album which is described as an album “to be listened to in the spirit in which it was made”. This album was recorded in Grouse Lodge, Windmill lane & Orphan Studios, it was produced by Gavin Glass and mixed by Declan Gaffney(U2) & Dougal Lott(Ray Davies) (release dat etbc).

Their kind of Rock N’ Roll music is haunted by the ghost of country and blues – take the good-time revolutionary spirit of MC5, simmer it down to the sounds of Crosby Stills Nash and Young, add some rough-edged Eagles of Death Metal and you are somewhere near the sonic nugget that is The Hot Sprockets.

Amanda Palmer Gets Standing Ovation for TED Talk At TED2013

Compares Crowd-Funding to Crowd-Surfing “When You Connect With People, They Want to Help You…

Maybe instead of asking ourselves how we can make people pay for music, we should ask ourselves how to LET them.”

Watch Amanda’s TED Talk, “The Art of Asking”, HERE.

Amanda Palmer has made an art out of crowd-sourcing and crowd-funding, making headlines last year for raising $1.2 million on Kickstarter to fund her latest album. Amanda says they are simply the modern day versions of the street-performing she did to support herself for many years as the 8ft Bride, and the couch-surfing she’s done throughout her years of touring.

“Couch-surfing and crowd-surfing are essentially the same thing. You’re falling into the audience, and asking your fans to catch you,” she notes. “So when it came time to put out my new album, I turned to crowd-funding, and I ‘fell’ into those thousands of connections I’d made and I asked my crowd to catch me.”

Moreover, she believes that the meaningful human relationships that develop from these acts –and the vulnerability they require – are as old as art itself. “For most of human history musicians and artists have been part of the community – connectors and openers, not untouchable stars. Celebrity is about a lot of people loving you from a distance. But the internet and the content we’re able to share on it is taking us back, and it’s about a few people loving you up close, and those people being enough.”

Lastly, she feels that the lessons she learned as a street performer might just solve the music biz’s current dilemma around trying to get people to pay for music: “Maybe instead of asking ourselves how we can make people pay for music, we should ask ourselves how to LET them.

Amanda’s self-released album, Theatre Is Evil, debut in the Billboard Top 10 last September, and is available for a “pay-what-you-want” price (including free) in her web store HERE.

“…one of the year’s best rock records…” – Rolling Stone

“… exactly the kind of record that makes people love music in the first place” – SPIN

“Theatre of Evil is genius, savvy pop” – NPR

“She juggles bravado and compassion… ” – The New York Times
