Storyfold Press2[1]STORYFOLD release ‘The Underpass’ EP OUT APRIL 11th

LIVE DATES: Monroes, Galway, March 14th

Whelans Midnight Show, Dublin, March 22nd

Number 1, Mullingar, April 4th

Sweeney Mongrel, Dublin on April 10th

Following on from 2011’s hit album Rocket Science, Storyfold are back, having spent the last year in the realms of studio-ville perfecting a new sound. The Dublin based band kick off what promises to be a massive 2014 with the release of their brand new EP ‘The Underpass’, with its plethora of pop sensibilities helped no doubt by a pristine production by Ger McDonnell (U2, The Cure, Kasabian). It is engineered by Phil Magee (Kodaline) and marks a progressive mature sound that’s guaranteed to get crowds dancing.

Storyfold formed in late ’09 and released their debut album ‘Rocket Science’ in 2011 – garnering a National radio hit with ‘Delphine Wakes’. After just 8 months of existence the album cracked the Top 10 in the Irish charts! It was described as ‘impressively timeless and effervescent’  (Hotpress) whilst BBC Radio1 said:

“Do you know how I would describe that? I would say that’s Ben Folds Five meets Manic Street Preachers. They’ve definitely got that crossover sound that’s edgy enough to be cool but commercial enough to be radio-friendly. I could see them go the Joy Formidable route…”

Supporting their new release, the band will play a multitude of live dates that will see them play the length and breadth of the country. Storyfold are no newbies when it comes to the live circuit having already played to over 40,000 people in Croke Park and having supported Feeder on tour. On April 25th their first release of the year will be EP ‘The Underpass’.

Empire Circus reveal new video for All I Need

EMPIRE CIRCUS: REVEAL NEW VIDEO AHEAD OF NEW SINGLE RELEASE.

SINGLE: “ALL I NEED”- RELEASE DATE: March 28th

Gig: May 10th Academy Dublin

Empire Circus are a four piece rock band who have tapped into the panache of Two Door Cinema Club, the demeanour of Arcade Fire and the general cool suave of Gorillaz… then morphed out the other side with a resonant sound under the guise of Empire Circus. Their self-titled album has been described as “impressive” by the Mail on Sunday and “Anthem-esque” by The Sunday Times.  Noted US rock critic Jeff Miers of The Buffalo News calls it “The most arena ready sound I’ve had the pleasure of hearing in a 200 capacity rock club.  The band delivers from the very first note.

In the latter half of 2012 the band spent time writing, demoing and working feverishly on creating music. They wrote three notebooks full of songs. Some they really enjoyed playing, others… not so much. So they took the fun ones, crossed the ocean to a studio in Brooklyn and crafted an album of 12 tunes that made them collectively smile while rocking them out. This was all done under the influence of renowned Indie Producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Phish, Lemonheads, Apples in Stereo, The Morning Glories, Antony and the Johnsons).

Empire Circus’ sound is all about the thrill in rhythm and melody. Their debut album, including songs such as “A Day in the Life of a Superhero”, “I Know Better” and “All I Need” will assuredly have your head bobbing while singing at the top of your lungs.  Beware the odd looks from the adjacent cars at the red light when blasting this one.

“The Future (the end is nowhere in sight): We still have dreams of conquering the globe and selling the t-shirt, but for now we concentrate on music that makes you want to forget your troubles, get out of bed and take on the world.” – EC

Quotes:

“Feelgood alt-pop work, and contribute towards rather than detract from an enjoyable debut. Anthem-esque with incredibly clever lyrics” –The Sunday Times

“It’s honest, well played MOR Rock. Very impressive” –Mail On Sunday

“Take the squally synth of Currents, where the four-piece brilliantly meddle with tempo and texture; Empire Circus have hit upon a formula that clearly works” –The Irish Times

“Empire Circus have delivered an impressively entertaining debut”- Hotpress

MORE POWER TO YOUR ELBOW DOUBLE A St. PADDYS DAY SINGLE! “SO FAR AWAY” & “Alive Alive O”

MORE POWER TO YOUR ELBOW

DOUBLE A St. PADDYS DAY SINGLE!

“SO FAR AWAY” & “Alive Alive O”

ALBUM “Until the last note fades” out now on iTunes

-FOR EACH DOWNLOAD OF ‘ALIVE ALIVE O’-

All proceeds go towards The Irish Guide Dog Association (IGDA)

This years St. Patricks Day will see Celtic Trad-rock power group More Power to Your Elbow launch their Double A Single “SO FAR AWAY” & “Alive Alive O”.  “Alive Alive O” enjoyed a residency in Copper Face Jacks, Dublin’s premiere nightclub, late last year in which all proceeds of the track went to The Irish Guide Dog Association (IGDA) and got into the Top 40 Charts at Christmas. “So far Away” is taken from the bands recently released album album “Until the last note fades” which is out now on iTunes.

“More Power to your Elbow” is a phrase used by the Irish to convey their typically energetic enthusiasm for a job well done. It’s a full-blooded endorsement, which asks for more of the same…you can never have too much of a good thing. As it happens, “More Power to your Elbow” is also a name aptly chosen by the members of an eight-piece Celtic Rock band from counties Tyrone, Armagh and Derry in the North of Ireland.

They could be variously defined, as a folk orchestra with a blazing array of electro-acoustic instruments or as full-on rockers, with driving drums and a dizzy rhythm and lead section. One thing is for sure, they will rattle your speakers because everything they do combines the inherent wizardry of Irish traditional with the musical muscle of rock.

More Power to Your Elbow are well known to home audiences and they have an appreciative fan base in areas as diverse as the USA, France and Norway.  To date the band have recorded two albums which have received critical acclaim.  The current album “Until the Last Note Fades” takes their music in new and exciting directions. Recorded by legendary producer Mudd Wallace, “Until the Last Note Fades” is a powerhouse fusion of Irish /Scottish style music with rock, reggae and other cosmopolitan forms. The end result is a tantalising journey through the quirky songwriting of Gerry Cunningham and the sophisticated arrangements, compositions and reworkings contributed by all eight of the band members. It is a delight to hear and you won’t be able to sit still!!

More Power to your Elbow intend to bring their refreshing and energetic style to the widest audience possible and the new Album “Until the Last Note Fades” is just the way to do it! It’s an intriguing catalogue of original songs and sets that capture the essence of the musical message about creating powerful energy around the delicate demands of a tradition handed down through many generations.

They crank it up and roll it out in a very original way. By no means are they to be seen as your standard Celtic Rock band.  Their arrangements and musicianship pay homage to the traditional art form with a great integrity, yet the material is fresh, energetic, highly enjoyable to listen to, but impossible to sit still to… you will want to jump!

Catch them if you get the chance…you can never have too much of a good thing.

LABEL: Crashed Music RELEASE DATE: FEB 14TH

Playing live Songs from Settling Dust.

Axis Theatre, Ballymun – Fri 28th February

Riverbank Theatre, Newbridge – Sat 1st March

Best known for her long running comedy shows in which she reprises a number of roles, Katherine Lynch has long held a secret desire to engage her audience with a straight up musical project.  When approached by Crashed Music Group last year, (home to among others The Dubliners, Horslips, Mary Coughlin and Sharon Shannon) the timing could not have been better.

Lynch had already begun writing songs and the opportunity to pour her creativity into a musical project was both appreciated and happily vindicated.  The result is an album that surprised and delighted fans and should herald a new chapter in her remarkable career.

Lynch who hails from Mohill in Leitrim, has proven through her song writing (seven of the albums’ 11 tracks are original) that she is possibly one of the most original and exciting folk musical finds. The album is produced by Paul Murphy of the Electric Penguins, and includes four popular covers including “Caledonia”, “Black is the Colour” and John Spillane’sMagic Nights in the Lobby Bar”.  “On Raglan Road (her dark hair)”, is a spectacular 21st century retake on the Luke Kelly classic, in which she even sings alongside her Grand Uncle, the poet and author, Patrick Kavanagh

The latest musical offering comes on the form of track “Twilight Romance” which will be released on Valentines Day. SETTLING DUST is available from Tescos and all good music reatailers nationwide and online from iTunes and Amazon.

PETER ANDRE PENS SONG FOR FORTHCOMING DREAMWORKS ANIMATION FILM MR. PEABODY & SHERMAN

DreamWorks Animation and Twentieth Century Fox are to join forces with Peter Andre in conjunction with the release of Mr. Peabody and Sherman, an all- new comedy adventure for the whole family directed by The Lion King’s Rob Minkoff

Peter_Andre_135-2FOR ITUNES[2]Written for the movie, Mr Andre’s new song, ‘Kid’, will feature as the end credit track on the film, which will be released by Twentieth Century Fox in the UK and Ireland on 7th February 2014.

Peter Andre said: “I saw an early cut of the film and loved it – it’s a must-see for the entire family. It is great to be working on something that I can see with my children and I am so excited about this partnership. ‘Kid’ is a song about the adventure of being a dad, the mischief, the fun, the exhausting joy of what kids bring, and it’s very up-tempo to match.”

Ian Morton, Vice President of International Promotions at Twentieth Century Fox added: “We are thrilled to be forging a partnership with Peter and our new family adventure comedy from DreamWorks Animation, Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Peter was the natural fit for the film and it is great to see that the film has inspired such a great song.”

Mr. Peabody (voiced by Ty Burrell, Emmy Award® Winner –Modern Family), the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman (Max Charles –The Amazing Spiderman), use their time machine—the WABAC—to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog. But when Sherman takes The WABAC out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidentally rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history. Before they forever alter the past, present and future, Mr. Peabody must come to their rescue, ultimately facing the most daunting challenge of any era: figuring out how to be a parent. Together, the time traveling trio will make their mark on history.

Burrell and Charles are joined by an all-star voice cast including Ariel Winter (Modern Family), Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Leslie Mann (Knocked Up), Mel Brooks (The Producers), Allison Janney (The West Wing), Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games), Patrick Warburton (Family Guy), Lake Bell (In a World…) and Dennis Haysbert (Kung Fu Panda 2).

Mr. Peabody & Sherman is produced by Alex Schwartz and Denise Nolan Cascino. Executive producers are Tiffany Ward, Eric Ellenbogen and Jason Clark.

KILL KRINKLE CLUB announce DIGITAL Single “CHOICE” out Feb 28th *Taken from Album ‘Oxen of the Sun’

KILL KRINKLE CLUB

DIGITAL Single “CHOICE” out Feb 28th

*Taken from Album ‘Oxen of the Sun’

‘Choice’ is the latest single release taken from album Oxen of The Sun by pop duo / electro Irish/Swedish outfit KKC (Kill Krinkle Club). Justin Commins and Elina Bergman originally met by chance a few years ago in a Dublin bar. Commins had luckily won a coin toss that got him off his night job, thus allowing him to meet his future band mate. When it comes to songwriting, the duo describes the process as rubbing two sticks together to get a spark and fuel it until it becomes a fire. “We take turns being the spark and being the fuel,” Commins says. They try to let themes and ideas come about, never aiming for any specific concept beforehand. “We work in a very stream-of-consciousness way, just trying to get in that space where things flow naturally,” Bergman adds.

Their musicality has been described as ‘ear-bending inventiveness’ (State Magazine) with ‘dreamy electronica…. imaginative ideas and the abundant’ (Irish Times). The album was produced and mixed by Declan Gaffney (U2, Interpol) and Tom McFall (Bloc Party, REM, Stars) and mastered at Sterling.

The electronic dream-pop duo have brought their live show as far as New York (CMJ NY), Canada (NXNE Toronto, Halifax Pop Explosion CMW) & are regular crowd pleasers at Ireland’s much loved Electric Picnic Festival. They’ve shared the stage fellow luminaries such as Bat For Lashes, The Flaming Lips, MGMT & Efterklang. Their music encapsulates a kind of ‘cool’ akin to the taste of Calvin Klein, who had one of their songs soundtrack his 2012 New York catwalk show.

Their debut album Abandon received much acclaim & the bands follow up ‘Oxen Of The Sun’ (September 2013) is garnering similar accolades such as Album of the week on Rte 2Fm and is receiving plays on National stations Rte and BBC.

‘Choice’ is their latest offering to radio. ‘A wonderfully beautiful, full of lush, staccato beats and vocals with power and soul’- Hotpress

‘The core sound of ambience, murky synthesizers and brooding vocals from both members are very much present, particularly on the album’s first few songs’. – Nialler9

What’s with the name? Justin explains “There’s a scene in Taxi Driver where DeNiro talks to a Secret Service agent and gives the fake name Henry Krinkle. It always stuck with me. He’s a character on the edge, just about holding his sh*t together. I think Krinkle signifies the urge to be a respectable member of society, to do your job and keep your head down. While underneath it all there’s a sort of madness that comes from holding back our true nature.”
