Heroes In HidingSince the release of debut EP “Hush” in 2014, Heroes In Hiding have gathered a momentum that is now in full pendulum swing. The burgeoning band are center stage in Ireland as one of the most promising talked about acts on the scene.

Having performed at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, Castlepalooza, BD Festival, Life Festival, even securing a slot at Iceland’s Secret Solstice festival – the band are now ready to release their first LP titled ‘CURTAINS’ which is due for an autumn release date of Oct 7th 2016.

The first single from the LP, which was released earlier in the year: “No, You’re a Rabbit” graced many airwaves across Ireland including coveted National Playlists. Follow up track ‘Hospital’ will be released on August 26th. Recorded by Jack Dunne and Cian Donohoe in Windmill lane and Block C Studios. Mixed and Mastered by Martin Quinn in Jam Studios in Kells.

‘Hospital’ documents a recent close encounter with death by a member of the band Joe Carroll: “I was on my way home from a friend’s birthday party on a hired coach. There weren’t enough seats so I was standing up at the back. I leaned back and fell out of the door and onto the motorway. I don’t remember much of the incident itself and the next thing I remember was lying on a trolley in the hospital in a neck brace. Luckily I didn’t sustain any lasting injuries but I was fully aware of how close I came to being much worse off. On my second day in hospital I heard a nurse using some sort of machine behind the curtain on the patient next to me. It was bleeping with two harmonious tones. Something told me I had to make a song out of it so I recorded it on my phone (which had miraculously survived the fall). A few days later when I was at home and feeling a little better I put the recording onto my laptop and recorded a rough draft of the song “Hospital”. The song is a document of my experience that night, and my realisation that life is very fragile and something to be cherished.”

HEROES IN HIDING ARE: Joe Carroll – Vox and Acoustic Guitar, Liam McCabe – Vox, Bass, Violin, Sax, electronics, Oisin Jacob – Vox, Electric Guitar and Kalimba and Cian Donohoe – Drums & Percussion.

THE RISING Announce new single “LAST FIRST LOVE” OUT SEPT 16TH

 Last-First-love-The-Rising-Itunes

“A glorious amalgamation of Rock, Country and Folk”

Jim Gellatly (XFM/Amazing Radio)

“If your after big songs with big choruses then you could do little better”

– R2 Magazine

“Choruses and tunes which aim for anthem status.. The Rising are definitely a band to watch.” – Golden Plec

The Rising are a Country Rock/Country Pop band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Currently, the band are finishing off their sophomore album (Due winter 2016), with recording sessions taking place between the band’s home base of Northern Ireland and also Nashville, TN (USA). The debut single from the upcoming album is “Last First Love”. Written by the band’s principle songwriters Chris Logan/Chantelle McAteer, it was recorded in Ireland/Nashville and was mixed by Grammy Nominated Mills Logan (Taylor Swfit, Eric Pasley, Luke Bryan, Toby Keith, Kristian Bush) and Pete Maher (U2, The Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, Damien Rice). The song recounts how everyone wants the feeling of their first love to last forever and the joy when it does. Of course, this can be a relationship or indeed apply to whatever your first love may be, for some that could be the love of music.

This single marks the start of a whole new chapter for the band, most notably, the addition of Chantelle McAteer on lead vocals. The new lineup was introduced during two shows at this years Country 2 Country Festival at London’s O2 where the band played two showcase shows (Big Entrance Stage & Brooklyn Bowl). The remaining lineup of the band is concreted with fellow founding member and Chris’ cousin Shane Watters on Drums, Brian Mellors (Bass) and Carla Crawford (Piano/Keyboards/Synths).

The band’s debut album ‘Coming Home’ gained extensive airplay throughout Ireland, UK, Europe (Germany, Netherlands) and the USA/Canada. Including support from the likes of BBC Radio, Radio 2 with the likes of Graham Norton, Gaby Roslin and Alex Lester championing the band from their first single. Their music video hit Number 1 in the CM&T International Artists Music Video Chart (USA & Sky TV).

The band have toured constantly since its formation including the chance to perform at the Country 2 Country festival in London’s O2 two years in a row, firstly, in 2015 and again in 2016. Constant touring around the UK and Ireland has helped the band build their fan-base with every show. Shows have included their own shows, festivals and also touring alongside the likes of Jess & The Bandits, The Shires, Ward Thomas and many other top acts. This constant touring and hard working ethic brought the band to the attention of the British Country Music Awards in 2015 with a nomination for the Horizon Award.

“..simmers and nourishes with reliable ease” – Irish Times

“Top Class” Sunday Times

Eleanor McEvoy continues her ‘Naked… Live’ tour, which will see her embark on dates across Ireland, Spain, Germany, Australia Scotland with more territories to be added in the UK and elsewhere in 2017. Naked Music is Eleanor’s new album, her music played in solitude in a beautiful farm recording studio in Norfolk, England. The recordings became a collaboration with famed British artist Chris Gollon. The Purchase of a Chris Gollon painting, and the subsequent meeting and conversations with the Artist, led to the Title Naked Music. With this focus, 4 canvasses were painted for the album artwork, then the tour de force Naked Music The Exhibition in Gallery Different in Trendy Fitzrovia London. The opening night was a special concert by Eleanor playing Naked… Live surrounded by 24 paintings inspired by the songs and titles of the album.

Naked… Live sees this solitary exploration of the best of her catalogue in the simple engaging starkness of her own performance. She walks in a single pool of light the stage is set with her electric guitar, acoustic guitar, violin, piano and a small amp. What follows, enthralled houses across Ireland and the UK. Referred to by a critic as “musical stand-up” The previous ALONE show entranced audiences with her singing, talking, anecdotes and playing, using her own songs and insightful interpretations of other writers (Chuck Berry, Georges Moustaki, Brian Wilson…).

+ ELEANOR MCEVOY PUBLISHES NAKED MUSIC, HER FIRST EVER SONGBOOK – Out Aug 30th

Eleanor McEvoy is to publish Naked Music, her first ever songbook. Entitled ‘Naked Music-The Songbook’, the unique publication is a pioneering collaboration between McEvoy and the acclaimed English painter Chris Gollon. It includes lyrics and melodies from the songs on McEvoy’s 2016 album Naked Music, alongside 24 of Gollon’s stunning paintings inspired by the music on that album.

The project has already been invited to headline the Louder Than Words Festival in Manchester in November 2016.

As McEvoy herself explains, “It’s probably every songwriters’ ambition, to publish a songbook of their works, but I deferred taking the traditional route and sought something more challenging. That came when the positive response to Chris Gollon’s paintings on the cover of my album Naked Music inspired me to want to

develop the collaboration further. Working on Naked Music-The Songbook with Chris was both daunting and challenging, but it was also an entirely enriching experience.”

With starkly intimate photographs of McEvoy taken by Shane McCarthy, Naked Music-The Songbook also features an introductory essay by best-selling author Jackie Hayden exploring the nature of such collaborations, alongside interviews with both Gollon and McEvoy about the evolution of their boundary- crossing partnership. Art aficionados have already singled out Gollon’s interpretations of McEvoy’s recordings of ‘Deliver Me’, ‘Please Heart You’re Killing Me’, ‘Whisper a Prayer to the Moon’ and her inventive reworking of Thomas Moore’s ‘Oft In the Stilly Night’ for special attention.

Eleanor’s history is well documented at this point, a difficult childhood in the emerging dreary 1960s Dublin. The light at the end of the tunnel was the music brought to her and played by her elder siblings. So by the age of 14, she was winning violin competitions (the Oireachtas), playing in youth orchestras, and in folk groups. Sufficient musical acumen and sufficient grades, earned her a place in Trinity College Dublin’s music degree course. From there she went on to a parallel career of playing in Ireland’s Symphony Orchestra and being a band and session musician for Greats including Phil Coulter and Mary Black, eventually the need to do her own music won out and she was propelled into orbit by the success of Woman’s Heart and a US record deal. This trajectory continues to this day with the wonderful musical intimacy of her show Naked… Live, featuring her own music   as well as co-writes with the likes of Lloyd Cole and Rodney Crowell.
