Poet and Troubadour Christian Wethered Announces New Single ‘Mr Medicine Man’ Out March 27th
Christian Wethered [pron. Wether-Red] is an Irish based poet and songwriter based in Dublin. He has just announced a new Single ‘ Mr Medicine Man’ which is set for a March 27th digital release.
It is taken from a French-inspired E.P, ‘Mon Petit Jardin’, which was recorded at Asta Kalapa, Wexford, by Darragh Nolan.
The E.P, which charts a breakup, was recorded with drummer Dyl Lynch (Little Green Cars /Soda Blonde / Zaska), and pianist/bassist/guitarist Cil Byrne (Basciville). The eerie melodies draw on the likes of Leonard Cohen, as well as Fionn Regan, London Grammar and The XX.
The first single, ‘Mr Medicine Man’, is a bittersweet ode to psychiatry and society’s reliance on medication.
Since his student days, Wethered has collaborated with a number of prestigious Irish acts such as Loah, I Have A Tribe, Little Green Cars, Danny Forde, Trinity Orchestra and Zaska. He’s also in the Discovery Gospel Choir, who play a number of festivals around the country. His debut poetry book, ‘I Don’t Love You’, was shortlisted for the Melita Hume Prize in 2018. He has performed at Electric Picnic three times, and recently played at The Ruby Sessions.
