katie and molly evoke

Sixteen year old Katie O’ Connor began singing at the age of five years old. That was the beginning of her journey in performance arts, as by the age of seven, she joined up to a stage school called ‘Live Wire’ where she remained up until the age of 10, an environment that nurtured her love for singing, dancing and acting. Which lead her to her first ever performance, when she was nine in the Olympia Theatre, Dublin. Where she sang a solo in the production of “Whistle down the wind”. She later performed as a dancer in two of the Jedward pantos in the Olympia theatre, recording backing vocals for most of the songs that were used in the Panto in a studio owned by David Hayes the was musical director of the show. She also recorded backing vocals with David for two songs on the legendary RTE’s Late Late Toy show!

She recorded her first song professionally with Producer Ivan Fitzpatrick when she was 12 and has been working with Ivan since then, recording a lot of covers and original songs along with Ivan’s original compositions. Katie plays Guitar and is self-taught. Her musical influences include Beyoncé, Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Johnny Cash and Dean Martin.

When Katies younger cousin became ill with Cancer, she wrote the song ‘Just Too Young’ which will be out in Oct 10th and all proceeds go towards the trust which has already raised over €120,000 towards further treatment for little Molly. Katie wrote the song when she was 15 and explains her reason behind it below:

“When you are told something that changes everything, you really don’t know what to do. You can cry, be angry, feel guilty, but doing that won’t change anything. When someone you love becomes ill, and not just ill like a flu, ill as in “this is serious”, what do you do? There are no words to describe how you feel. There is too many emotions, but all I know is you could never feel worse when you get that news. At first I didn’t know what to do, but who would? Her life now revolves around a hospital. She has lost all of her beautiful red hair. She has never lost that big smile on her face. When something like this happens you want to do every thing possible to help. This is why I wrote this song…When I started I didn’t know what to write? What to say? How to say it? As I wrote it, it seemed to just come to me, like I was telling a story and not a song. I want people to listen to this and understand what Molly is going through, and what my family is going through. It’s not fair what has happened, but now that it has, we need people to know about it. We need help. We can’t do this alone.”

BRAND NEW ALBUM ‘Hard Believer’ FROM FINK- Out 11th July 2014 + FREE DOWNLOAD

FINK : BRAND NEW ALBUM ‘Hard Believer’ Out 11th July 2014 + FREE DOWNLOAD HERE:

Set to be released on July 11th, Hard Believer is the eagerly-awaited new studio album from FINK: Fin Greenall (vocals/guitar), together with Tim Thornton (drums/guitar) and Guy Whittaker (bass). It will be their first release on the R’COUP’D imprint, a label newly created by Greenall with the backing of the Ninja Tune team.

Recorded in seventeen days at Hollywood’s legendary Sound Factory studios with producer Billy Bush (Garbage, Beck, Foster the People), Hard Believer is shot through with rawness and controlled aggression; an album replete with calm beginnings seguing into powerfully hypnotic loops and climactic finales. It is a masterful collection of songs from an artist at the peak of his creative powers.

“We wanted to go deeper this time, and be more ambitious with the music,” Fin explains, “to move the sound forward without losing touch of where we’re from.”

Urban, bluesy, and alive, the album presents ten brand new songs, including the mighty “Shakespeare”, a tale of young love gone tragically sour as the mood darkens from acoustic to guttural rock; the spiky yet delicate “Looking Too Closely”, riding an irresistible piano-and-guitar groove; “Green And The Blue”, on wFink_TommyNLance_2014_1hich a vulnerable Greenall meditates on the constants in life that see you through tough times; “Two Days Later”, a deeply personal lament and one of only two songs on the record that start and remain down-tempo; and the breathtaking “Pilgrim”, the latest collaboration with songwriter Blair Mackichan, co-writer of “This Is The Thing” from Fink’s 2007 Distance and Time, and “Honesty” from 2011’s Perfect Darkness.

Since making the transition from world-class club DJ and electronic producer, to the first ever singer-songwriter signed to legendary British label Ninja Tune, Greenall has released four critically acclaimed albums, worked in the studio with the likes of John Legend, Ximena Sariñana, Amy Winehouse and Professor Green and enjoyed incredible live success with the hugely popular 18-month “Perfect Darkness” world tour which accumulated two live records: 2012’s Wheels Turn Beneath My Feet, and 2013’s Fink Meets the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. All this and Fink is still a name which – while evoking an impassioned response from many a fellow artist and from the avid fanbase – remains a mystery to a wider majority. This looks set to change…

The term ‘Hard Believer’ comes from deep-south Americana; it means somebody who is difficult to persuade, who requires proof. In truth, all anyone has to do here is listen to the powerful collection of songs on Hard Believer. The belief will surely follow.

Röyksopp and Robyn announce the release of the ‘Do It Again’ mini album, which will be released on Dog Triumph via Wall of Sound and Cooking Vinyl on 23rd May 2014.

‘Do It Again’ will be the first single available from 25th April. This serves as an introduction to a new Röyksopp album to be released later this year, which will feature two of the tracks.

The ‘Do It Again’ tour with Röyksopp and Robyn, already described as one of the most exciting tours of the Summer, begins at Sonar Festival in Spain on 13th June 2014, and includes a headline slot on the BBC Radio 6 music stage at Latitude Festival on 19th July.

Röyksopp and Robyn unveil a clip from ‘Monument’, the first track on the mini album:

Watch the ‘Do It Again’ tour trailer here:

“This 5 track mini-album is the accumulation and embodiment of the synergy between Robyn and ourselves. We’ve intended this to be a diverse yet cohesive and thought through musical venture; it’s meant to be an expression where pop & art reign side by side.” (Röyksopp)

Röyksopp and Robyn were inspired by each other’s company and compelled to create something they had never done before, building on the brief moments when they had come together in the past. Having worked together on ‘The Girl and the Robot’, which appeared on Röyksopp’s ‘Junior’ album in 2009 and ‘None Of Dem’ on Robyn’s ‘Body Talk’ Pt. 1 in 2010, the ‘Do It Again’ mini album sees the two artists doing just that.

“… this doesn’t sound like Röyksopp featuring Robyn or Robyn produced by Röyksopp, it’s just something else entirely”, “The word ‘collaboration’ has never before been more justified in the world of music!” (Röyksopp)

“Svein and Torbjörn and I started working on new music in the beginning of 2013, I´ve been going back and forth to Bergen to record and write with the boys up until recently. Collaborating with S & T is something I enjoy very much. In the beginning we just knew we wanted to do something together and then it started to feel more like a band thing than songs for a Röyksopp or Robyn album so we´re releasing this music together as a band you could say.” (Robyn)

The ‘Do It Again’ mini album represents the perfect coming together of three of the most original musical minds in the world.

‘Monument’s grandeur and grace is as distinctive as it is moving and was the first song where they wrote lyrics together. A defining moment on the mini album in the shape of a near ten-minute long anthem, which was inspired by a sculpture from artist Juliana Cerqueira Leite, which gave Robyn a “physical experience of what it’s like to define yourself or stand for something or figure out who you are.”

‘Do It Again’ is the first single taken from the mini album and is an “accidental pop song” written after a night out together in Bergen. It is one of the most effervescent, effortlessly uplifting electro-pop tunes of recent years, and started life as a rave-inspired throwback.

One of the first songs they started working on was ‘Every Little Thing’, the mini album’s tear-stained electro-ballad (key lyric; “baby, why you falter, when you know I’m waiting here”).

Elsewhere, the ‘Do It Again’ mini album covers big thumping house in the shape of the club-ready ‘Sayit’, which features a near duet between Robyn and what sounds like an aroused robot. On the other end of the spectrum there is the closing ‘Inside The Idle Hour Club’, which utilises Robyn’s vocal discreetly to create a pensive, slowly evolving soundscape that’s worth diving headlong into.

‘Do It Again’ is compelling not just for it’s personality, but also because it is simply not what you expect.

Gary Numan is pleased to announce a main stage appearance at this year’s Sonisphere festival on 4th July, Alt-Fest on 16th August and an exclusive London show for 2014 at The Hammersmith Eventim Apollo, on 28th November.

In anticipation of the shows, Gary has unveiled a brand new video for ‘I Am Dust’ (taken from his lauded recent album Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind))’, which marked a deserved return to the top-rank of worldwide musical stardom.

The ‘I Am Dust’ video was made using a Tachyons+ video glitch synth effected live via HI-8 camera and a CRT television captured by a modern digital camera. ‘I Am Dust’s grinding, apocalyptic, electro gives way to a gigantic chorus, all of which is sonically and musically streets ahead, highlighting Numan’s renewed mojo for fresh, exciting songs, and breaking new sonic ground.

The Sonisphere, Alt-Fest and Hammersmith dates follow in the wake of Gary’s fantastic recent run of success, which culminated in critical acclaim and a return to the UK Top 20 albums chart after 30 years for ‘Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind)’, plus a rapturous response to his sold-out national headline tour and South By Southwest dates.

This triumphant live return to London’s Hammersmith Apollo also has special historical significance for Gary,  as he released his first (and now classic) full-length live album ‘The Touring Principle 1979’ (which was recorded at a sold out Hammersmith Apollo) 35 years ago this year.

2014 also marks the 35th anniversary of the release of ‘The Pleasure Principle’, plus the Hammersmith  gig will be Gary’s biggest London headline show in over 20 years, so fans can expect a celebratory show, which promises to reach an all time incendiary and inspired high.

This summer will no doubt see Gary’s star continue to rise, alongside his widespread recognition as a hugely-influential pioneer and a vital, current artist enjoying a new creative peak.

The Furious Haze announce details of their new EP!! out Aug 23rd titled BRING ME UP + Dublin date Whelans Aug 22nd!

The Furious Haze EP cover

The small auditorium is packed and on the verge of violence due to the conditions. The lights over stage twitch from a leaking pipe above, suddenly the concentration breaks, the hum off the crowd dissipates. Now, only the sound of the sub plot coming from the Saint Patrick’s Day riot far off in the distance can be heard. The concentration breaks again to the first click of the sticks, the strum of the guitar, the first glass thrown with love, the revolution begins, “The Furious Haze” are born.

Rasheed Sassy (best seat in the house), Marcus O’ Toole stage right, Martyn Lyle stage left, dead centre stood Graham Hatton and deep in violent territory, Peter Wright controlling the desk. In those days they were the “The Black Sheep” but now, politics dictates otherwise.

After six years of breaking strings, stage invasions, brawl breakouts, glass rockets in and out, road trips that went very wrong, crowd dives that turned bloody, broken and thrashed gear, vomit on stage, civil war, falling through windows and doors, honouring the faithful, and a lot of alcohol taken. Finally, “The Furious Haze” have finished recording their debut album. Channeling the furiousness of The Sex Pistols amassed with The Clash.

Recorded in the Grouse Lodge and mixed by Phil Hayes at Apollo, Temple Lane Studios and Mastered by Fergal Davis; The Furious Haze will release their EP “BRING ME UP” on AUGUST 23RD 2013.

–       Finnish rock giants agree record deal for the UK and Ireland

–       New album, Tears On Tape, due for April 29th (26th in Ireland)

DoubleCross, Cooking Vinyl’s specialist rock imprint, have announced their latest big league signing, with Finnish rock giants HIM agreeing a UK and Ireland deal – with options – for their forthcoming album.

Recorded in their home country with long-time producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, the new album – titled Tears On Tape – is scheduled for release on April 29th.(26th in Ireland)

Formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström, and bassist Mikko “Migé” Paananen, HIM’s previous seven albums have seen them win a worldwide following, becoming the first Finnish act to achieve gold sales status in the US.

A formidable live act, the band is currently limbering up for dates in 2013, including a highly anticipated appearance at Download.

Speaking about the signing, DoubleCross general manager, Phil Hopwood, said: “It’s so exciting to be working with such a great band. HIM are a well respected cornerstone of the genre and the new album delivers on every level. We will make a lot of new fans with this record.”

Fresh from mastering the album in New York, Ville Valo  added :- ‘Cooking Vinyl’s history speaks for itself and for some unfathomable reason they have clearly understood HIM’s rather perverse musical fetishes (which is as rare as hen’s teeth !). DoubleCross (of the inverted kind) here we come !”

DoubleCross was launched in August 2012 with a mission to sign the world’s hottest rock and metal acts.

Adding Skindred to its roster last month, the label recently celebrated the release of King Of Conflict, the debut album from The Virginmarys.

DoubleCross was launched in 2012. A Cooking Vinyl label, the mission is to sign the world’s hottest rock and metal acts, both new talent, and established artists / bands looking for a new home.
