Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra: First New Studio Album in Four Years! ‘Theatre Is Evil’ (COOKCD571) Released Sept 7th

First New Studio Album in Four Years! ‘Theatre Is Evil’ (COOKCD571) Released Sept 7th

“Palmer is set to join Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails as the artists that people tend to mention when they talk about the new music business.”  Billboard

” …Ms. Palmer sings dark and jubilant songs.”  The New York Times

Singer, songwriter, piano-slayer and super-blogger Amanda Palmer is preparing to release her first new studio album in four years, in conjunction with her new band, The Grand Theft Orchestra, featuring Michael McQuilken, Chad Raines and Jherek Bischoff. Entitled Theatre Is Evil, the album was recently recorded in Melbourne with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Murder By Death, Modest Mouse, Xiu Xiu), and is due out in September.

Arguably her most pop-influenced album yet, Theatre Is Evil showcases Amanda’s powerful vocals and talented songwriting in ways that may surprise even her most ardent fans. Written over the course of several years (since the release of her last studio album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer), the album offers a collection of sounds and rhythms heavily influenced by the music Palmer grew up listening to – most notably 80s synth rock and Brit Pop. From the anthemic “Do It With A Rockstar” and “Want it Back” to the mighty, horn-induced bop of “Massachusetts Avenue”, Theatre is Evil is tauntingly playful. At the same time, a more somber, vulnerable Amanda Palmer pulls at our heart strings with ballads like “Trout Heart Replica”, “Grown Man Cry”, and the pièce de résistance: “The Bed Song”, a somber, melancholy track that documents the slow deterioration of a long-term marriage.

True to form, the undisputed queen of crowd-sourcing and fan engagement enlisted her community of loyal supporters to launch her ambitious global release, selling nearly 25,000 copies of her new album in multiple formats via Kickstarter, along with a variety of unique merch items including hand-painted turntables, two different coffee table art books featuring art from the group exhibit, and numerous Amanda Palmer experiences. All told Palmer’s presales have already earned the artist over $1 million, garnering accolades from the likes of Forbes, CNN, The New York Times, and The Economist.

Sandi Thom releases new album “Flesh and Blood” on August 24th (27th in Uk)

Produced by Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes

Featuring duet with the iconic Buffy Sainte Marie

Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sandi Thom is proud to announce  the August 24th release of her fourth studio album Flesh and Blood.  The album was produced by the Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson and recorded at 16 Ton studio in Nashville, Tennessee. This is Sandi’s fourth album following 2010’s critically acclaimed Merchants and Thieves.

The first single, Sun Comes Crashing Down will be available as a free download on www.sandithom.com on June 4th.

Best known for her 2006 No.1 hit single I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair), Flesh and Blood is a significant release, being Sandi’s sophomore studio album, released solely by her independent label Guardian Angels Records (distributed by NOVA through Universal Music Operations).

The highly anticipated new album radiates the raunchy blues rock bravado of the opening track Help Me, followed by the country-flavoured Leadbelly classic In The Pines, that funks it up on the strutting, clavinet-led Stormy Weather; and inevitably breaks your heart, with the emotionally compelling finale Lay Your Burden Down.

The new album features an all-star ensemble led by Black Crowes Rich Robinson, drummer Steve Gorman and fellow Black Crowe and widely travelled session guitarist Audley Freed, respected Nashville stars Mike Webb (keys/Dobro) and James Haggerty (bass) complete the line-up with special guest appearances from acclaimed singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte Marie and famous Rolling Stones collaborator, the legendary saxophonist Bobby Keys.

“Sandi really stretched herself and made a bold new album,” reflects Rich Robinson, “Her songs are honest, vulnerable and very strong.  Her vocal abilities are showcased really well, as is her guitar work, and harp playing. I think Sandi’s made a great record. It was a joy to work with her.”

Legendary classic rock producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Joe Bonamassa) also mixed two tracks, Sun Comes Crashing Down and a duet with Buffy Sainte Marie on the latter’s classic song, Big Ones Get Away.

“Sandi’s writing is fantastic,” says Shirley, “and her singing is wonderful. Sun Comes Crashing Down has all the right ingredients to be a hit.”

The intriguingly titled I Love You Like A Lunatic, is based on her “life-changing” love affair with superstar blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. The couple have been together three years now, living and loving on and off the road. Celebrated music journalist Mick Wall likens it to a modern-day Johnny Cash and June Carter fairy-tale. “My life just turned crazy,” says Sandi, it’s what everybody wants, that insane kind of love that utterly consumes you.”

Sandi feels that Flesh and Blood is her coming of age album. “All I ever want to do is write songs that connect with people,” says Sandi. “With this album I’ve finally found a place where I can make the very best music I can achieve. The people that only know me from Punk Rocker won’t recognise me on this album. They will discover another side to me entirely.

Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson

(Old time blues with Celtic tones) Album ‘Wiley Ways’ out Fri. June 1st + Nationwide Irish Tour Dates Announced including Electric Picnic, full Uk tour and tour support for Jools Holland.

“With Wiley Ways, Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson have crafted as genuine a blues record as you can hope to find in this day and age – simple, powerful, full of the inherent realism we’ve come to expect from these two, a stellar effort” – Samuel J. Fell (Rolling Stone).

The process of this album has been, up to date, one of the most enjoyable experiences Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson have had in making an album; what with banging bed pans and packing Cigarette box Pedals into old leather glad bags for that sought after sound. It has been a shared passion for their music that has molded this album lovingly track by track.

Now they want to share this personal experience of their scrawls and ramblings they have created late into the many early hours from their shed in the bush and long dark nights on the road with the rest of the world.

This dynamic duo is a unique combination that have skillfully combined their music of hill style country blues with old time folk, which has seen them become firm favorites’ on the international festival circuit. Their material is original yet crosses the boundaries as if written from a time once forgotten. ‘Wiley Ways’ will be released June 1st and will be available in all record stores and on iTunes.

A Plastic Rose announce new single, Tour dates and Kerrang awards show in London!

A Plastic Rose have just announced their second musical offering of 2012; ‘BOY RACER’ (Release date June 15th in Ireland/ 18th in Uk). Taken from their eagerly awaited debut album titled: ‘Camera.Shutter.Life’. The album was produced at Manor Park by Neal Calderwood (General Fiasco, Fighting With Wire) and will be released in the summer of 2012 on DidiMau Records. (Rel date TBA)

Fresh from Supporting Snow Patrol on a handful of their arena tour dates, the spectacular and ever ‘EPIC’ (Irish Times) band ‘A Plastic Rose’ are the name on a lot of people’s lips at the moment.

Widely seen as one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from the increasingly fertile Northern Irish music scene, the band have been instrumental in uniting artists and gig-goers alike, knowing that there is great strength in a united front.

On ‘BOY RACER’; the band have yet again captured the sound that makes them such a favourite amongst audiences. Defined by their individuality and with talent aplenty, APR are proving that behind the band’s ability to bring people together, there is some serious edgy song writing skills at work.

Camera.Shutter.Life’ calls to mind the aggression of Rival Schools, the dark mystery of R.E.M., the emotional intensity of Biffy Clyro, as well as the fist-pumping choruses of the Foo Fighters.

Exclusive Stream of Marilyn Manson new single ‘NO REFLECTION’

TO RELEASE ALBUM BORN VILLAIN

(COOKCD554) April 30th (27th in Ireland)

Hear the lead single “No Reflection” (FRYDL509)

Los Angeles, CA…Marilyn Manson continues to upend the mainstream with each new release, and his upcoming album Born Villain is about to take that a bit further on April 30th, 2012. Evidence #1, the single, “No Reflection”: http://bit.ly/mansonnoreflectionsoundcloud

KROQ debuted “No Reflection” yesterday and the lead single will be available exclusively on iTunes this Tuesday, March 13th. Blabbermouth was first to catch the premiere, reporting that the song’s chugging, faint-friendly distortion offers plenty of sonic waves for Manson to glide over reminiscent of glory-era Ministry.

“The new record put simply has the ambition and determination of how I started making music in the first place,” Manson says. “It sounds like the first record in that it’s not afraid to do anything. I had to remove myself from my lifestyle and start fresh.”

“It doesn’t really sound like any of my old records,” Manson says in an upcoming Revolver magazine cover story. “In fact it sort of sounds like what I listened to before I made records — Killing Joke, Joy Division, Revolting Cocks, Bauhaus, Birthday Party…It’s very rhythm-driven. I think this will probably be the grandest concept record of all.”

The tumultuous relationship Marilyn Manson has cultivated with the public through his genre-defying music and anti-status quo message of thinking for oneself has resulted in sold-out tours, protests, legal battles, adoration, hate, more than 50 million records sales, award-winning distilled spirits, several Grammy nominations and, most importantly, a long list of some of the most enduring and powerful singles ever, such as “Lunchbox,” “Get Your Gunn” “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” “The Beautiful People,” “Antichrist Superstar,” “Tourniquet,” “The Dope Show,” “I Don’t Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me),” “The Fight Song,” “Mobscene “Heart-Shaped Glasses,” “Coma White” and “If I Was Your Vampire.”

Born Villain will be released on Cooking Vinyl and Manson’s own label Hell, Etc.  Marilyn Manson has had astounding success across the globe including three albums being certified platinum and three more certified gold in the USA, in addition to three top ten albums and two number-one albums (Mechanical Animals and The Golden Age of Grotesque).
