Strange Boats
Single “Boys walk faster than girls” Out: Fri 26th October on iTunes + Nationwide tour dates announced.
Strangeboats (previously known as The Coonics) are a Galwegian 4 piece punk rock band hailing from the rural town of Tuam in the West of Ireland. Consisting of Darragh O’Dea (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Rory Donnellan (lead guitar, vocals), Richie McDonagh (bass guitar) and David Flaherty (drums, percussion). Their music combines the parochial storytelling style of Bruce Springsteen with the pop song sensibilities of Sam Cooke, delivered with the intent of The Clash.
With the new single ‘Boys walk faster than girls’ the band maintain their former credibility through the passion and heart-wrenching honesty of their big yet simple rock sound. Their previous musical offerings (under Coonics- Singles ‘Skinny jeans’ and ‘Tasteless Joke’) saw them win over fans in the Irish music scene such as Today FM’s Ian Dempsey and KC, 2FM’s Hector and many Irish Regional dj’s.
