Irish Troubadour Robert John Hope Announces New Music

‘None Other’, the first single from Robert John Hope’s debut album ‘Plasticine Heart’ is an electro pop/rock song about trying to move on from regretful experiences, and having to deal with the eventual consequences in one form or another set to be released Jan 29th 2021.

Recalling close friendships gone bad, relationships destroyed for whatever reason, and other shameful things done in the past, all of which can come back to haunt you in some way, the song explores the idea that you can’t escape your past.

Robert John Hope is an Irish, Berlin based singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in ambient folk and alternative pop/rock. In Ireland, he will be known mostly as the man with the distinctive voice and poetic lyrics who fronted the band Senakah, with whom he toured Ireland, the UK and US extensively in the past. He is now back with his debut solo album ‘Plasticine Heart’.

In his musical career to date he can look back on an range of international press commentary – the British Mail On Sunday described him as having a vocal range veering from “Matt Bellamy style dramatics, to Eddie Vedder and Thom Yorke”, while Hotpress Magazine described his vocals as “ethereal”.

From 2007 to 2014, Hope performed mainly as the frontman of Senakah, with the second of their two albums ‘Human Relations’ being produced in 2011 by Noel Hogan of The Cranberries. On extensive tours of the US, they performed over 300 concerts across 40 States with acts such as Arrested Development and the late Bernie Worrell, also performing at the legendary Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, and at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.

Hope’s debut solo album ‘Plasticine Heart’, to be released on April 23rd, 2021, developed over a couple of years during which he released his first solo EP ‘The Unravelling’ in 2018. The album’s title for him reflects the changes one invariably goes through as time passes, and for better or worse the malleable nature of perspective, and the human heart. ‘None Other’ is released on Jan 29th 2021 across all digital platforms.

Concerts for summer and autumn 2021 are currently being planned, Covid permitting.

Ruth Brosnan Celebrates The Covid-19 Frontliners With Song of Hope that Provides an Escape in Uncertain Times with new Song ‘Electric Gold’

Cork singer-songwriter Ruth Brosnan returns with a new single ‘ELECTRIC GOLD‘ set for release Friday the 20th of November. The song is a high energy, up-tempo, pop dance track, heavily influenced by 80s style music combined with modern electronic elements.

Says Ruth:

I was inspired to write the song during the global COVID-19 pandemic. It is a song of hope and provides an escape in uncertain times. It is a song of survival through social isolation.

An animated music video will accompany the song and it will take you on a journey of discovery. It’s about realizing that we are all our own heroes and will overcome these tough times and emerge together stronger.

It is a shot of adrenaline to all of those obeying the rules so far to keep on going and a thank you/acknowledgement to frontline staff.

After completing her BA in Popular Music at CIT Cork School of Music, where she graduated with First Class Honors in May 2018, she set off to LA on a graduate visa to learn more about the music business. While in LA, she entered an online competition called The Great American Song Contest and was chosen as a finalist with her debut single, Good Enough, which she says was a great honour. It was also something for which she has had a lifetime of training.

“I always wanted to be a performer. I did a lot of acting and singing with The Performers in the Firkin Crane with Irene Warren, I had been in The Monforts and I was in the Cork School of Dance with Sinead Murphy. I was in pantos with Bryan Flynn and I’m so delighted I got to work with him. These people were all very influential when I was growing up.”

Ruth writes anecdotal songs of the pop/rock genre and has a unique quirky style & personality which shines through in her own songs and performances. Her influences include Kesha, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani and Sigrid.

Ruth has experienced more than her fair share of heartache already. Having tragically lost her mother and a number of her close friends to suicide, Ruth wrote her previous song ‘Good Enough’ which was released to critical acclaim last year as a message for those going through a tough time and to remind them that they are good enough.

‘ELECTRIC GOLD’ will be available on various different platforms such as Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play, Tidal, Deezer and Apple Music from Nov 20th 2020.

Eleanor McEvoy Announces New Single ‘Scarlet Angels’ Out Nov 12th

Irish Chanteuse Eleanor McEvoy, who is best known for her songs ‘Sophie’ and the Irish standard ‘Only A Woman’s Heart’, has just announced a brand new single titled ‘Scarlet Angels’ set to be released on Nov 12th.

Now based in Wexford, Dublin-born McEvoy’s career originally started as a session musician, which included a long stint with The Irish National Symphony Orchestra and with The Mary Black Band McEvoy decided to develop her own career, and quickly had the title track on The Woman’s Heart compilation and a U.S. record deal with Geffen Records.

McEvoy was soon touring the world to promote her eponymous debut album for Geffen, which went on to sell 250,000 copies. At the same time, ‘A Woman’s Heart’ entered the Irish charts, selling over 750,000 copies – and remains one of Ireland’s biggest selling albums of all-time. These successes established McEvoy as one of Ireland’s biggest stars, launching a career that has since seen her release twelve studio albums and tour the world.

Described by BBC Radio 2 as “one of the few artists who can do no wrong whatsoever”, McEvoy wrote the new single as a homage to the healing power of music:

An homage to the healing power of friends and music. Many people believe in beings that guide us from above, but I have found that most times in life, it’s the incredible friends and good souls that mind us here on earth that make a difference.

I wrote this song just after the “Woman’s Heart Orchestrated” concerts in the National Concert Hall in Dublin and the National Opera House in Wexford with Maura O’Connell, Wallis Bird and the RTE Concert Orchestra.  The concerts were amazing. We wore red on stage and raised the roof, a thousand voices sang along. It was a joy.

Indie Jazz Band ‘Eves Record Box’ is Set To Release New EP “Solo Heroes” 13.11.20

Limerick, the city that is harvesting some of the best raw talent in Ireland in the last year, has just gone and done it again. Perhap’s it is in the water? If so, then Indie Jazz Soul band, Eve’s Record Box, have it on tap as they present their debut EP, ‘Solo Heroes’.

Fronted by Jane Fraser, (session singer and backing vocalist with Peter Andre, Oritise Williams (JLS), Whinny Williams & Five Grand Stereo) who holds a BA in Songwriting from The Institue of Contemporary Music Performance. Janes songs have been signed to Sony U.S.A, Good Solider, Viper Recordings an Elixir recordings and a number of E.D.M youtube channels.

During the summer of 2019 Jane rekindled her love of jazz and soul and began working on an original jazz project with Paddy Shanahan – the result of which is Eve’s Record Box…

Paddy Shanahan (lead guitarist) studied jazz at New Park Music Centre and has all the trade marks of a well versed solo jazz guitar player. Danny Lanham (Bimm Graduate and MD & composer on PX Music label) is on bass providing a tasty lock in with Ben Wanders Drummer/producer who’s brave choices make for a sound that at times is menacing and alternatively ethereal.

Soaring flutes, cityscape samples, explosive drum solo sections and even a speech from Martin Luther King gives this body of work an edge and a sense of experimentation while managing to maintain a narrative across the political and deeply personal.

Written in 2019 and recorded in a two day live session just before lockdown, the band have created a sound on the EP which is highly crafted yet manages to retain a rawness that can be heard in much of the output from the Limerick music scene at the moment.

‘Solo Heroes’ is a classic break-up song with a straight up hard hitting lyric and a smokey vocal delivery from lead singer Jane Fraser reminiscent of early Amy Winehouse or Melody Gardot.

Making an impressive entrance with their first single ‘London’ being featured on ‘The London Jazz Review’, 2XM, Totally Irish and WWFM, they describe their music as Indie Jazz. Drawing inspiration from traditional jazz as well as acts such as Kamaal Williams, Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei, Flying Lotus etc..

Lewis Barfoot Announces New Single ‘Fisherman’ To Be Released Nov 6th

Fisherman is the new single by Irish/English singer and multi-instrumentalist Lewis Barfoot, set to be released on 6th November 2020. The lead single is taken from upcoming album Glenaphuca due in March 2021.

The ethereal song weaves a splendid tapestry of storytelling at its very finest and is accompanied by a stunning animated music video made by acclaimed Korean visual artist Narae Kim, which will premiere at the prestigious Cork International Film Festival in November 2020.

Fisherman is an autobiographical song that speaks of Lewis’ call to Ireland and her wish to unearth the legacy of her family. Setting her luminous voice against a backdrop of gently interweaving cello and clarinet, the song is intended to represent a siren-like call to Ireland with an ethereal phrase from the traditional Irish song Dúlamán.

The use of the traditional tune hypnotically captures the mystery of the ocean’s ancient call before building into a joyous finale, with multilayered evocative vocals and a playful reprise of the air Dúlamán as performed on fiddle by Scottish musician Elisabeth Flett.

Fisherman was produced by Lewis, recorded at Soup Studios, London and mastered by Pete Maher and features guest musicians Elisabeth Flett (Fiddle) Matt Dibble (Clarinet) Hannah Thomas (Cello) and Ansuman Biswas (Percussion).

Having cut her teeth on the London folk circuit, appearing regularly for institutions such as Nest Collective, Lewis has recently moved back to her maternal home of Ireland and is happily settled in Cork. Fisherman perfectly echoes the reconnection with Ireland.
