Brooke secures Eurovision spot to represent Ireland with ‘That’s Rich’

Irish Alt-Pop artist, Brooke has been making waves for her ferocious vocal delivery and dance-worthy anthems. Rising to fame as a finalist of The Voice UK 2020, she wowed the judges and viewers with her show-stopping performances. Having duetted with Ella Eyre and been mentored by Grammy award-winning coach/singer Meghan Trainor, Brooke is closely following in the footsteps of these strong female artists.

Brooke won her spot to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2022 after a show-stopping performance of “That’s Rich” on RTE’s Late Late Show Eurosong Special – she will represent Ireland at this year’s contest in Turin in May.

The latest single “That’s Rich.” Inspired by Blondie meets The Gossip, the fiery and empowering track narrates how you should never settle for anyone who doesn’t fulfil your needs. Brooke shares, “I was reading Debbie Harry’s autobiography and wanted to encapsulate the attitude she portrayed in her life.” Oozing with energy and sass, the songwriter demonstrates her impressive and powerful vocal range, which soars atop a throbbing beat and playful instrumentation.

With her music receiving acclaim from the likes of BBC Introducing, as well as numerous Spotify editorial playlists including New Music Friday and New Pop UK Playlists, Brooke is set for a roaring 2022.

Crispr Kid Release New Single ‘First Responder’

FIRST RESPONDER – by CRISPR KID Out Now!

“…serious E-Street/Arcade Fire band vibes off this” – BBC

CRISPR Kid are a Dublin based 4-piece guitar band who released their debut E.P. ‘Fresno Rescue Mission’ in December 2019 and performed blistering gigs at The Sound House, Whelan’s ‘Ones To Watch 2020’ and a headline show at Lost Lane, Dublin in late January 2020. Drawing influences from the likes of The National, REM, Death Cab for Cutie, St Vincent, Tom Petty & New Order, they deliver an epic fusion of Indie-Rock.

They recently finished their debut album ‘Down with the Kid’ in September 2021 which is set for release in March ’22. The band are set to release indie-thumper ‘First Responder’ from this record on Jan 21st this year.

Home-recordists Pauric Sweeney (singer) and bassist Stephen Browne had been songwriting with Dublin producer Phil Dobie for much of 2019 and brought brilliant Brazilian drummer Romulo Passos into the fold that summer. The mercurial Gary Mackey joined on lead guitar to make up the 4-piece in August 2020 and the band began recording DWTK as an EP at Darklands Studios last November under the guidance of engineering ace, Daniel Doherty. A purple-patch ensued and the Down with the Kid expanded into a full LP as the lockdown persisted.

It’s no accident that the band’s name alludes to the contraversial C.R.I.S.P.R. gene editing phenomenon. They decided to democratise their own genes – or mixes to be precise – by posting the recorded stems on the day of all releases for free on CrisprKid.com – thus allowing up and coming producers/engineers to attempt their own versions.

You can stream the single across all major platforms: Spotify, iTunes, Tidal, etc now!

LOUD MOTIVE Announce New Single ‘Astronauts’, Set To Be Released Feb 25th 2022

Following knockout performances at Electric Picnic, The Button Factory, The Academy, Castlepalooza, HWCH & selling out shows in legendary Dublin Venues Whelans, The Workmans, The Sound House and The Sugar Club –  Loud Motive are set to bring their sound to a whole new level this year, starting 2022 off with new Single release ‘Astronauts’ on Feb 25th 2022.

Loud Motive’s music is a fusion of seductive guitar melodies and intricate wordplay with hip-hop sensibilities. In this way, a vibrant, mainstream sonic landscape is created. The band’s experimental sound occasionally plunges us into a world of sweet swirling sounds combining the poignant essence of grunge rock with afro beats and twists, juxtaposed with socioeconomic and politically charged lyrics reminiscent of various news stories that have been making headlines in Ireland in recent years. Loud Motive are “The act to watch” in 2022, unafraid to speak their truths and mirror them across their music repertoire.

Commenting on their music, Loud Motive’s Marvell delves into every- day issues and scenarios the young Dubliner has dealt with as he and his longtime friends try to assert themselves as Hip-Hop heavyweights in the ever growing Irish Urban community:

Our mission is to showcase a different side of the musical talent that is on display here in Ireland and to take it to the world stage, at a new height where we can be proud to say we have played a fundamental part in the growth of Irish Urban music and art.

Marvell, Ridler Tempo & Dano – Loud Motive

The band have acquired a wealth of talent behind them, including world renowned producer and musician Danny Saber who has worked with Madonna, David Bowie, U2, Busta Rhymes and Public Enemy to name a few. They draw musical influences from Kanye West, Lil Wayne and 50 Cent. Through all the different elements they brought to hiphop and the connections they brought forth, they made it easy for the band to resonate with. Others include Miles Davis, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Red Hot Chili Peppers and J. Cole who then inspired them to take a deeper approach to writing music, allowing them to connect emotionally, spiritually and mentally with the creative dimensions to their craft.

It’s time to put Loud Motive on your radar.

Loud Motive consist of:
MARVELL – VOCALS/LYRICS
DANNY DUHO – BASSIST
RIDLER TEMPO – DRUMS

Dublin Trio ‘Dark Isle’ Announce New Music

Dark Isle formed in 2019, born out of a long-term collaboration between three musicians in Dublin and Barcelona: JP Coakley (lead vocalist), John Donnelly (guitar, bass, keyboards and provides backing vocals) and Diarmuid Ryan (guitar).  Purveyors of well-crafted songs with original melodies and lyrics, they are here to disrupt and give you something challenging to listen to.

Their home-produced collection of music, set to be released throughout 2022, spans a bridge of genres from indie rock, electronica to techno to punk, and much in between. From a simple guitar grows weird and wonderful sonics with beats to push you around. Most of the bands formative influences include writers or poetic songwriters such as Kurt Vonnegut, George Orwell, Bob Dylan, Jennifer Johnston, John Le Carré, Joyce, Ry Cooder, Emmy Lou Harris, JJ Cale, Little feat and The Beatles.

We live in a dark place with glimpses of light. Songs about Love, Loss & Identity. Always about our lives. Dark Isle is eternal for the times we live in.  The music could be electronic, dance or indie, but you might catch your granny whistling along between pills.

Dark Isle’s music is real but also full of hope. We’re not running from anything. That’s a new kind of battle. I think we’re more interested in signing up for the resistance than starting a war.

The first musical release from the band is ‘Brave’ (a-side)and ‘Come Back Home’ (b-side), jointly released across all digital platforms from Feb 18th 2022.

His new single ‘La Madeleine’ is a loud, Nick Cave-esque song about loss. But it’s also about nothing at all: long absences and empty spaces. It is the album’s fourth and final single, and will also have a music video, both of which are due on 10th May.

Since his student days, Wethered has collaborated with a number of prestigious Irish acts such as Loah, I Have A Tribe, Little Green Cars, Danny Forde, Trinity Orchestra and Zaska. Hannah Kathleen Releases New Single ‘Missing U’

Hannah Kathleen is a trailblazing 23 year old singer/songwriter and entrepreneur. The Dublin beauty is an artist whose very essence is based on a dynamic spark of creativity that permeates every area of her life, but seldom does it shine brighter than when she’s on stage or in studio doing what she loves – music.

Citing musical influences such as Whitney, Mariah, Ariana and Christina, Hannah’s voice is a fusion of vocal runs, that rise and soar with perfect, lush harmony-laden Pop sensibilities akin to the 90’s and indeed 00’s Pop divas. In new single ‘Missing U’, Hannah channels the subtle tones of Janet Jackson and Ariana Grande.

“Missing U’ is out now across all streaming platforms. This is a reflective romantic track, recorded remotely in Dublin due to the global situation, it’s a collaboration between Hannah Kathleen and German producer, SVRN.

The lyrics are particularly relevant to couples who have been missing/are missing each other due to COVID-19 lockdowns. It reminisces on better times with the hopes for a better future. It also features a cute reference to one of the most famous (and my fav) romantic movies of recent years, “The Notebook”!

Whether in Ireland or around the world (she is currently based in Norway), music is a universal language and Hannah Kathleen speaks it fluently. Music has always been her first love. As a performer she’s playful yet fierce, and her confidence, coupled with her authenticity, is what truly connects her with her audiences.

She’s young but already making waves, having performed not once, but twice, on Sir Richard Branson’s private island, Necker Island, in December 2018 & 2019, to guests including tennis legends Rod Laver & Martina Navratilova, as well as Sir Richard Branson himself. She has over 100,000 followers on Instagram, her word of mouth endorsement’s within the entertainment industry echoing across her social media.

Following her placement as a Miss Universe Ireland finalist in 2017 & 2018, she was invited back as a featured performer at the Miss Universe Ireland Final 2019 Show, as well as the famous ‘Blondwiesn’ Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich. She has been requested at a number of high profile events in 2020, in locations including Las Vegas but due to Covid, this had to be postponed. Now, Hannah resides next to a fjord in Norway where she has been writing and recording new music while the music industry eagerly awaits its reopening.

Emer Dunne Announces New Single ‘Daisy’ + Stunning Cover Songs, Ahead of New Album.

Emer Dunne announces brand new music taken from her upcoming long-player album, Hourglass. Original song ‘Daisy’ will be available for download on MARCH 26th (with all Profits to Irish Cancer Society) + Cover songs: ‘The Parting Glass’ and ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’

Laois based singer, Emer Dunne, who is due to release the first single, Daisy, on March 26th from her astounding new album entitled, Hourglass has decided to donate all the profits from her single to a charity close to many of our own hearts, The Irish Cancer Society.

March 2020 saw a change across many parts of the world. We have all been affected and many of our great charities have suffered as a result of not being able to run the fundraising events of the past.

“ I didn’t set out to record a song for charity. I was just working on this album and the way things went this past year the release was delayed. The date was then set for March 26th and when I discovered this was also Daffodil Day, I decided that during these difficult times perhaps I can give something back. Everyone knows someone who has had to suffer at the evil hands of cancer. On a personal note, I have three aunties and an uncle who all suffered from Cancer and my mother is currently battling this illness.  I have watched her bravery over the past few months and observed first hand the fantastic work and support given by The Irish Cancer Society”.

‘Daisy’ is a positive uplifting song where the singer is reminding ‘Daisy’ that all people don’t view the world in the same way and as the lyrics state, “people don’t think like you do and some don’t think at all.”  The track is written by Scottish songwriter, Karine Polwart, and the song struck a chord with Emer. She immediately took it to her producer, Bill Shanley (who works with Mary Black & Gilbert O Sullivan etc). Emer knew it would be one of the ten tracks to make its way onto her new album.  A talented songwriter in her own right, Emer could relate to the lyrics of this song, and with Bill Shanley at the helm she could see the opportunity for bringing a unique and vibrant arrangement to it.

Daisy’ was recorded between Dublin and London with Bill Shanley, Andrew Holdsworth, Colin Farrell and Jonathan Owens. The song is available to purchase on digital platforms including iTunes & Amazon music, for only €1.29. Please tell your friends and help raise money for much needed cause.

Daisy is part of a radio sampler pack which also includes cover songs of Irish favourites ‘The Parting Glass’ and ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’, performed beautifully by Emer

Ann Scott Releases New Single ‘River’ Ahead of Album Lily

Single release –  ‘River’ – Friday March 26th
The second single from Ann Scott’s forthcoming album, River is about the relentless nature of everything..

“the constant speed, the burn out we all know too well from our modern existence,” says Scott “and how little things can accumulate all together into something bigger than ourselves.”

River is mixed and mastered by Karl Odlum who also contributes guitars, bass and drum programming.

Her forthcoming studio offering, Lily, comprises eleven songs recorded over a mixed period of solitude and transformation, with recent history including re-location to the Irish countryside, giving birth for the first time, and now a year marked by lockdowns and social isolation.  Not by co-incidence then, Lily is a largely solo and sparse affair, featuring just a handful of usual collaborators and includes themes ranging from motherhood and family, to dementia, loneliness, burnout and hope.

What some of the critics have to say

“An inventive, literate and poetic voice” —Tony Clayton Lea- Irish Times

Not one of the highly hyped songwriters but definitely one of the most talented” – Dan Hegarty – 2FM

“A sublime, special collection. Rooted in dreamy melodies, Scott’s voice part Harriet Wheeler part Beth Orton is a rare beauty soaring on hot day and she jubilee and should deservedly gain her a lot of critical attention”. – Sinead Gleeson – U Magazine
