The Meteor Award Nominee for Best newcomer COLM LYNCH, releases his fantastic new single ‘Kiss My Blues Away’ On March 26th. And will perform it on TODAY FM’s Ray Foley Show shortly after 1pm TODAY.

*Colm will perform in the RDS at the Leinster V Scarlets Rugby game to over 20,000 people on Feb 20th 2010*

Colm has been Described as “…Singer songwriting savior…” by The Irish Times

The release of the critically acclaimed first album put his vocal and songwriting skills on show to the nation for the first time. It received glowing plaudits from the likes of Dave Fanning, Hotpress, The Irish Times, In Dublin and a host of other people and publications. It was Album of the Week on Larry Gogan’s 2FM Radio show. Singles released from the album got extensive airplay on national and local radio. He also won the Balcony TV Best Male Award in 2007.

His current album, being his second studio album titled: Tickety-Boo, is picking up where he left off. While more polished, it still possesses the same characteristics that made his debut such a winner. Whether in a mellow mood or just plain aggressive, the music always comes from the heart. This is plain to see when witnessed in live performances. TICKETY BOO- is now available Nationwide and on iTunes. Remaining true to his philosophy that ‘a good song should have a strong melody and meaningful lyrics’, the ten track album features hit singles “It’s Coming Down” (previously playlisted on TODAY FM and 2FM) and the RTE playlisted “If I was In Your Shoes”.

Anyone expecting to see a singer-songwriter soulfully whispering into a microphone should think again. This will be a fevered, rock n’ roll affair! After all, there are only two schools of thought on Colm Lynch’s music: those who are confirmed fans and those who haven’t heard him yet!

Whether playing to hundreds of people in venues like Vicar St. Dublin or to a tiny audience somewhere off the beaten track, Lynch always delivers a memorable performance. Resting easy among his musical peers, Lynch has supported acts as diverse as The Blizzards, Julie Feeney, Kate Walsh, Aslan, John Power, Foy Vance and Mundy.

Starting 2010 off in style, Colm Lynch and his 8 piece band gathered in Studio 7 RTE Radio 1 two weeks ago, after being invited in by legendary DJ and TV host Pat Kenny. Performing the new single Kiss my Blues Away and If I was in Your Shoes, Colm and his band gave the performance of their lifetime and quite possibly one of the best Radio performances of the year.

Colm Lynch album review- taken from TheMutation.com

Colm Lynch
New album: Tickety B
oo

One thing is for certain, Colm Lynch & his eight piece band know how to perform- and on this album the singer songwriter is anxious to impress. Whether it is by singing his heart out or banging the hell out his guitar, he has set his goals on achieving something rather significant. But has he done it?

YES, and why, because he took his time, he learned his trade, he gigged and gigged and gigged and found out what people want out of a li ve performance and condensed it into an album. Three years after the release of his debut record, A Whisper in a Riot, Tickety Boo is telling of the singers personal progression and is an album that deserves not to be ignored, and one that simply demands your attention.

I actually do not think this man knows how to do things half ways, as he has a straight up- ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of persona. He is in it for t he music and nothing else. This much is obvious in his live shows. You wont find Colm at the opening of every envelope, but given the chance to rock an event, he’ll be there with guitar in hand and with his enormous eight piece extravagantly brilliant roots band (banjo, fiddle, sax, lead guitar, harmonica, strings, drums… the list goes on…). All this in the mix, proves a cocktail for a great night out or a great listen on speakers. Lynch’s voice is all ‘throat and gravel’ and on this record he is definitely pushing every bit of himself to the limit. Sounding at times like he has sang through the night and indulged in a bottle of whiskey and about 80 ciggies….But it’s ok, cause for this man it just works.

It would be very easy for me to draw easy stylistic comparisons with anyone from Springstein, Dylan and Steve Earl, but one must remember that this man is in his twenties and is Irish, not a child of the American rock-folk movement of the 60’s. It’s all there – the passion, the sound and the performance, but the songs themselves do take a few listens to nuzzle into the epicentre of what the man, the singer is trying to achieve, give it a few listens, it demands it. And when it all clicks in, trust me you will be checking the online tour dates.

Pop/Rock trio ‘Mugger Dave’ comprise of Simon Noble (Lead Vocals / Guitar), Seán Herriott (Bass / Backing Vocals) & Níall Curran (Drums). The band’s intention from the start was to play a collection of pop songs as loud and as forcibly as possible by a power trio. The group’s collective experience shows in the tightness of their performance, with all three members knowing exactly what they want to create: a hard-hitting rock band, with catchy, feel-good melodies reminiscent of the Kinks, underlined by driving bass lines and a heavy, no-nonsense, drumbeat. Their energetic live shows are driven by the powerhouse rhythm section and overlaid with unique melodies and imaginative harmonies. Front man Simon Noble describes their lyrics as being “an infectious blend of coy coyness and social satire”.

‘Listen hard and listen well’- is their request to you.
