NELL BRYDEN ANNOUNCES MAY IRISH DATES!!!
May 30th– Auntie Annies- Belfast £9.
May31st – Crawdaddy- Dublin €12
The Blonde bombshell that invaded our Radio & Tv boxes last year is back with New single TONIGHT (FRYDL425) – 19th April
It is currently on the Radio1 playlist on RTE and BBC Radio2.
Taken from album WHAT DOES IT TAKE? (COOKCD508) – out now!
Nell Bryden, has announced she will be releasing a new digital download single, Tonight (Ash Howes Radio Mix), on Monday 19th April. Her last single, Not Like Loving You, spent an incredible six weeks on the BBC Radio 2 A List, and was described by the Daily Mirror (****) as “a big bold production – keening pedal steels, bright edgy horns and a massed choir – push the incomparable thrill of the title to the fore. Swell” . The original version of Tonight can be found on Bryden’s recently released album What Does It Take?
Critics praised Nell, saying “ Her vocal versatility is supported by consummate songwriting skills … Think of a female Nick Lowe with a better voice” (Uncut) and “An eclectic collection, it takes in country blues, Dixieland Jazz and her warm, rich voice even shows a touch of the Roberta Flacks” (Q).
Bryden is fast becoming one of the most talked about and sought after new artists, building the buzz the old-fashioned way with word-of-mouth endorsements of her live shows. With four international tours (and 500 shows) in the last 18 months under her belt, including tours with KT Tunstall, and The Counting Crows, and a self-released debut single, What Does It Take, spending 7 weeks on the BBC R2 A-list (Second Time Around spent over 2 months on the RTE Radio1 playlist and was Song of the Week on Today FM)- she is definitely one to watch. Bryden also appeared on RTE TV’s the Late Late show on her first single release of Second Time Around.
Following a chance meeting with a US Army colonel at South By South West, Bryden set aside her political preconceptions to entertain the troops in Iraq – not once, but twice –in 2009, and became, in the process, a Forces Sweetheart. Award winning documentary maker Susan Cohn Rockefeller, of the Rockefeller dynasty in the USA, commissioned a team of filmmakers to go with Bryden on her second visit. Entitled Striking A Chord, the documentary provides an insight into how the troops are coping and how they feel at home when music is played, amongst other things. It is due to be released later this year. you can view the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K54koz429zk&feature=related
And you can also view A cast of 200 donate their time to raise money In Abbey Road studios biggest ever recording session. This was the biggest ever 1 day session to be staged at Abbey Road in the history of the famous recording studios. Celebrity bartenders at the event included Dropkick Murphys, along with NESN’s Heidi Watney, NECN’s Chris Collins, “The Mad Fisherman” Charlie Moore, funny gal Sue Costello, gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker, boxing legend Micky Ward, former New England Patriot Christian Fauria, and Boston Bruins legend/WAAF personality Lyndon Byers.

The last Tycoons Album launch April 3rd. The Village
Fresh from their stint at this years SXSW- The Last Tycoons welcome you to come and attend their LAUNCH IN:
THE VILLAGE,
DUBLIN
ON APRIL 3RD. (with special guests)
HAILED AS “Ones to watch”- METRO & ‘A Revelation’ – by HOTPRESS, NME Radio described TLT’s music as ”Great narrative country tinged pop”.
* To ensure your press pass/industry pass please email:
Mark Kavanagh on kavanagm@gmail.com with “RSVP April 3rd” in the title or email linda@goodseedpr.com and we will make sure your name is on the list.
Info on the band: Formed in 2007 after a change of personnel, attitude, and clothes, The Last Tycoons evolved from highly acclaimed Dublin band Porn Trauma. Hailed as “one of Ireland’s hottest new bands”, (CONNECTED MAG) there is plenty to get excited about. “Replete with vintage sounding guitars, liberal use of harmonica and soulful backing vocals, they certainly offer a refreshing alternative to the raft of copycat, post-punk pretenders doing the rounds. They are a revelation” (Hotpress). “Their ability is obvious and their hard work in improving every area of their performance is a credit to them. Cracking stuff; watch this space” (InDUBLIN).
The music of The Last Tycoons has a definite southern American roots undertone, yet is proudly Irish in its origin. The “eminently watchable front man Steve Fanning is tall and imposing, like a good looking Richard Ashcroft, with a distinctive twang to his voice that lifts even the darkest corners of their songs to the light” –(InDUBLIN). He also sounds at times, like the love child of Mick Jagger and Nick Cave. However, this is a band that is not led by any one or two people but is a collaboration of ideas with diverse instrumentation, lush vocal harmonies and well thought-out arrangements lending to the band’s overall sound.
Having dented the Top 30 official Irish Charts and earning the affection of various radio stations around the country and farther afield, the band is now ready to release their self-titled debut album ‘The Last Tycoons’ on Good Friday (April 2nd). Excited? Perhaps you should be. Known widely for their explosive and raucous live shows, the band will set out on a national and international tour in Ireland, The UK, Germany and the US from March onwards. ‘The Dry Law’ was the first glimpse of the material recorded for the album and is available now from iTunes. ‘Speed’ is the follow up track from the radio EP including ‘The Dry Law’, which will be out on Good Friday with the album on all the usual online stores and record shops.
