FIRST RESPONDER – by CRISPR KID Out Now!

“…serious E-Street/Arcade Fire band vibes off this” – BBC

CRISPR Kid are a Dublin based 4-piece guitar band who released their debut E.P. ‘Fresno Rescue Mission’ in December 2019 and performed blistering gigs at The Sound House, Whelan’s ‘Ones To Watch 2020’ and a headline show at Lost Lane, Dublin in late January 2020. Drawing influences from the likes of The National, REM, Death Cab for Cutie, St Vincent, Tom Petty & New Order, they deliver an epic fusion of Indie-Rock.

They recently finished their debut album ‘Down with the Kid’ in September 2021 which is set for release in March ’22. The band are set to release indie-thumper ‘First Responder’ from this record on Jan 21st this year.

Home-recordists Pauric Sweeney (singer) and bassist Stephen Browne had been songwriting with Dublin producer Phil Dobie for much of 2019 and brought brilliant Brazilian drummer Romulo Passos into the fold that summer. The mercurial Gary Mackey joined on lead guitar to make up the 4-piece in August 2020 and the band began recording DWTK as an EP at Darklands Studios last November under the guidance of engineering ace, Daniel Doherty. A purple-patch ensued and the Down with the Kid expanded into a full LP as the lockdown persisted.

It’s no accident that the band’s name alludes to the contraversial C.R.I.S.P.R. gene editing phenomenon. They decided to democratise their own genes – or mixes to be precise – by posting the recorded stems on the day of all releases for free on CrisprKid.com – thus allowing up and coming producers/engineers to attempt their own versions.

You can stream the single across all major platforms: Spotify, iTunes, Tidal, etc now!
