Suzanne Vega- The Village Tomorrow night June 10th

MIG Live presents American singer/songwriter SUZANNE VEGA in a very special and intimate live show at the Village, Dublin on June 10^th2010.

Widely regarded as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what have been labelled contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since the release of her critically acclaimed, eponymous debut album in 1985, she has sold over 7 million albums, received 7 Grammy award nominations and played sold-out shows in many of the world’s best-known halls. Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she has given sold-out concerts in many of the world’s best-known halls. In performances devoid of outward drama that nevertheless convey deep emotion, Vega sings in a distinctive, clear vibrato-less voice that has been described as “a cool, dry sandpaper- brushed near-whisper” and as “plaintive but disarmingly powerful.”

Now Suzanne is reinterpreting a majority of her catalogue in an intimate and personal way, creating 4 new thematic albums that will be released over the next 2 years. First is Suzanne Vega Close-Up, Vol 1, Love Songs, which will include stripped down versions of her influential hit Marlene On The Wall, bossa nova favourite Caramel and many more.

Platinum-selling second album ‘Solitude Standing’ produced runaway hit ‘Luka’, about child abuse, which won MTV’s Best Female Video award and Suzanne was the first artist on the main stage at the very first Lilith Fair. Tomorrow at 3:30pm Suzanne will perform the classic song on Today Fm -Tony Fenton Show.
