Top of the early April to ya! Lets not be too hasty, the cold weather will kill off germs they said…. Snow in March!? Well at least the folk at Cadburys, for Easter, had something to do other than get shipments of stock out…But anyway enough of that. Check out some epic new releases and upcoming gigs!

Billy Bragg, who charted in both Ireland and the Uk upon the release of his new album Tooth & Nail has picked up some credible acclaim from MOJO -“Bard of Barking gets personal, goes universal, makes his best album.”  Q MAGAZINE “….superb vocals and measured lyrics…” and THE GUARDIAN- “His classiest-sounding album to date. Impressive.”   While Eleanor McEvoy enjoyed the front page cover of The Sunday Times Culture Magazine as she released her new album If You leave, which was also Rte radio 1 album of the week. Eleanor plays in The Cork Opera House on April 19th.

Just in time for Record Store Day April 20th 2013, The Hot Sprockets will release ‘SOUL BROTHER’ Single (April 19th official iTunes release date). Hailing from the delta blues mecca that is…Dublin. They are five friends who came together with a shared love of Rock N’ Roll music. Their music has been used on everything from Bulmers ad campaigns to BBC’s comedy “Fresh”, Irish film “Stitches” and RTE’s “RAW”. The band recently beat off 1000’s of bands to make it to the Hotpress “Play on the Day” final and got to grace the cover of Hotpress magazine. The bands video for “Cruisin’” was nominated for “Best video” & “Best group” at the Irish Music Television Awards. Check out the new video, Tarantino would be proud! 

Dine Alone Records have announced the upcoming City and Colour album, The Hurry and The Harm, which will be available June 4, 2013. Pre-order begins April 9 on iTunes. Visit www.cityandcolour.ca for more info. Dallas recently supported Biffy Clyro in Dublins o2 to an epic receptive audience.

Alison Moyet will be releasing her new album The Minutes on May 3rd. She just released new single When I was Your Girl and you can view the music video here. Moyet will also be playing in Ireland on the following dates:  30 Sep Ireland Cork Opera House, 01 Oct Northern Ireland Belfast Waterfront Hall & 02 Oct Ireland Dublin Olympia Theatre!

Having just returned from Canadian Music Week in Toronto where they played on Canada AM National TV Show to over 3 million people. In other gig news: Tickets for the FM104 Help a Dublin Child go on sale tomorrow at 9am. If you buy a ticket for the May 31st gig tomorrow at 9am and send FM104 in a photo of the printout receipt, They will give 5 lucky listeners an exclusive Cuddle Mug before 10am tomorrow. Already confirmed to perform are Original Rude Boys Ryan Sheridan with at least another 3 acts to be announced. Giving them a hand on the night will be PJ Gallagher, The Strawberry Alarm Clock team and the FM104 Phoneshow. There are only limited tickets for this event! It’s four hours of some really special performances and surprises on the night. Their latest album ‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’ hits the 100,000 mark! It has  been confirmed that Madness’s latest studio album ‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’ has smashed through the 100,000 mark, making it officially gold status. The album was released on the 29th October 2012 and has had two singles released from it, with the third, ‘How Can I Tell You‘ coming on April 8th (Now on the BBC Radio1 playlist!).

‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’ hits the 100,000 mark

It has today been confirmed that Madness’s latest studio album ‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’ has smashed through the 100,000 mark, making it officially gold status. The album was released  on the 29th October 2012 and has had two singles released from it, with the third, ‘How Can I Tell You‘ coming on April 8th.

Special Edition of the band’s tenth studio album will be made available on April 12th. The repacked album is packed full of bonus content, new tracks, a live DVD and much more. Also to celebrate the release Sir Peter Blake, who designed the original artwork for the album, makes an appearance on the cover… dressed as Moses! For more info on thatclick here.

2013 continues to be an incredibly busy year for the British legends. Friday 22nd March saw them help say good bye to one of London’s most recognisable landmarks, BBC Television Centre, with an hour long set broadcast live on BBC4. Nearly 800,000 people tuned in to watch the concert, giving it the highest viewing figures out side of the five main channels.

The band have also announced details of their biggest show of 2013, with a one off date at Alexandra Palace on the 28th September.

Madness will tour a number of classic British events over the summer. The band will take in ten shows ranging from Sandown Park Racecourse, Newmarket and Northampton County Cricket Ground between June and September. They have also confirmed that the legendary Madness House Of Fun Weekender will take place in November of 2013.

Madness have today announced details of their brand new and 10th studio album ‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’ (COOKCD573). The album of all brand new material will be released on October 29th (Oct 26th in Ireland). The band are also delighted to announce that the artwork for the album has been designed by the legendary British Artist Sir Peter Blake. They have also confirmed that the first single from the album will be ‘My Girl 2’ (FRYDL527), released on October 22nd. (19th in Ireland)

‘Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da’ sees the band team up with a number of new producers, the first time in their illustrious career they have decided to do so, to create an album of incredible pop songs. Fans have already been given a taste of what is to come from the album with track ‘Death Of A Rude Boy’ which was made available as a free download from their official site in August.

It has been an incredibly busy summer for the band; playing on the roof of Buckingham Palace, a number of high profile festivals and to millions of people at the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony. It has also been confirmed they  will appear at the iTunes Festival on September 27th

Madness have also announced further details on The House Of Fun Weekender. The event at Butlins Minehead on November 23rd to 26th will be a typically nutty Madness affair with fun, frivolity, Merriment with lots of reggae and ska to boot. For more information on the Weekender please click here.

The tour, which is the band’s biggest to date, will see the them showcase tracks from the new album as well as all the fans favorite hits. Announce Free Track – ‘Death Of A Rudeboy’+    2012 Live Dates

After performing to a combined audience of over a billion worldwide at the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony, the legendary Madness have announced they are giving away a free download of a brand new track ‘Death Of A Rudeboy’. The track is available now from the official site and also as bundle on iTunes, which includes a remix from Andrew Weatherall.

‘Death Of A Rudeboy’ is a taste of what is to come from the hotly-anticipated new Madness album. More details on the band’s 10th studio album are to follow soon.

The Olympic Closing Ceremony saw the band perform alongside the likes of The Who, Take That and The Spice Girls as the curtain was brought down on the 2012 London Olympic Games. On the performance the band said,

“What a privilege it was to take part in the Olympics in our home town, our house in the middle of our street, to invite the world to the most extraordinary street party and to be there giving out cups of tea and sausage sandwiches at the closing ceremony. London is the world and the world is London, God bless you all, you know you are always welcome down our way.”
