CHILLOUT RECORDS Presents…

Pale White Guy

Single “LIVE”: Out April 7th 2017

ChilloutRecords introduces Pale White Guy, an animated character with an eclectic musical taste informed by years of honing his craft and watching programmes like Top Of The Pops when artists such as Bowie, T-Rex and Roxy Music lit up our screens and set the platform for the MTV era of pop music.

Pale White Guy draws his influences from some of the most iconic musicians from yesteryear. Thus embracing the present as well as the past, his debut single “Live (Best Things In Life Are Free)” is a pop soul track with driving synths, strings and guitars together with stax influenced horns forming a traditional rhythm section layered with electronics and a positive lyric. Mixed for radio by Philip Larsen (Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue), “Live” is a song with a pop sensibility that sticks in the memory and appeals to the repeat button.

‘Pale White Guy’ is the brain child of ChilloutRecords Composer & Artist BP Connor who hails from Dublin, Ireland. A character inspired by all the greats from the 70s and 80s he has a love of life and music. BP has composed numerous pieces of music, for commercial sync and licensing use worldwide across platforms such as MTV, Oprah (Harpo Productions), The Hills – MTV Networks, Sony Music Publishing (Japan), Indigo Films, National Geographic Channel & RipTide Music (Hollywood Film Music Co.)

About the label: ChilloutRecords specialises in electronic, rock and pop instrumentals together with vocal based material.  Their Compositions and Material has been licensed worldwide including various TV networks and production houses since 2002. ChilloutRecords has partnered with The Orchard, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment to distribute both digital and physical releases since 2006. Pale White Guy’s Debut Single “Live (Best Things In Life Are Free)” will be available on all digital platforms from April 7th 2017.

The music video for “Live” is currently in production and will draw from influential videos of the MTV era with cameos from a few of todays characters and people culture. Stay tuned!

The 4 Of Us2-the4ofuscolour-2

Single & Album : “Sugar Island”

Out Oct 28th

The 4 Of Us have been a steadfast part of Irish music history for over a quarter of a century. Formed and fronted by Newry-born brothers Brendan and Declan Murphy, they have developed a unique musical identity, which has produced original and award- winning recordings, as well as a large and loyal fan base. To date, they have notched up an enviable catalogue of timeless songs, including six top 20 Irish charting albums. Their music has also been featured extensively on American, UK, and Irish TV soundtracks.

The 4 Of Us shot to early fame towards the end of 1989 with their debut Songs for the Tempted, which featured the massive hits Mary and Drag My Bad Name Down. The follow up Man Alive made Q magazine’s prestigious Top 50 Albums of 1992 and included the UK Top 30 song She Hits Me.

‘Sugar Island’, their latest album, is due for release on October 28th 2016. Lyrically, the album explores the brothers’ early years growing up in Northern Ireland; musically, it focuses on the trademark interplay of their acoustic guitars. As singer Brendan recalls: ’It was a dark time for sure, but as kids we still managed to have a lot of fun. Everyone who lived through that time has their own stories to tell; we thought we’d share some of ours.’

Promising to be one of their best studio recordings yet, Sugar Island features 12 new songs. It is arguably their most biographical album, including tracks reflecting on the brothers’ childhood, growing up in a border town during the height of the troubles in Northern Ireland.

The Band perform in Dublin’s Vicar St. Nov 11th where the Murphy brothers will be joined by their original band line-up to perform their debut album Songs For The Tempted, along with their latest, in show entitled Then and Now. The lead radio Single “Sugar Island” refers to the landmark heart of their hometown, which was also a popular meeting place for young lovers. ‘On the day I left you crying, on the bridge at Sugar Island’, as the lyric goes. This is also out Oct 28th along with the album. For more info and a full list of tour dates + social media links go to: http://the4ofus.com/

14500646_10154557786518518_3018977654998123507_o‘Hospital” – The brand new track from ‘Heroes In Hiding’ will be performed by the band on Fri. In a star studded line up that includes Hollywood actors Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Peña and former Ireland international Jason McAteer. Be sure to tune in from 9.35pm on RTE 1 or the RTE Player.

In the last month the bands single ‘Hospital’, detailing an incident where one of the lead vocalist’s from the band, Joe Carroll, fell out of a moving bus on the dual carriage way and woke up in a hospital bed, has been critically acclaimed by Irish media such as Hotpress, The Star, The Irish Times and well known Irish and International Music Blogs and Webzines who lauded the band as one of the most promising acts to come out of Ireland this year.

There’s some thump off it! The Breakfast Show ‘Song of the Week'” – Ian Dempsey Today FM

“Ireland’s next indie hit makers” – RTE Radio 1

“Band of the week for this sprightly indie-pop song” – The Irish Times

“Excellent! Another great track from HIH, did you expect anything less!”- RTE 2FM – ‘Song of the week’

“Fantastic Four-Piece” – Joe.ie ‘Song of the day’

“Heroes in Hiding have a momentum that is in full swing” The Star ‘Single of the day’

“Fantastic track!” BBC INTRODUCING

“Hospital is engrossing whilst also keeping the hooks and melodic lushness in tact.”- TheLastMixTape

Since the release of debut EP “Hush” in 2014, Heroes In Hiding have gathered a momentum that is now in full pendulum swing. The burgeoning band are center stage in Ireland as one of the most promising talked about acts on the scene. Having performed at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, Castlepalooza, BD Festival, Life Festival, even securing a slot at Iceland’s Secret Solstice festival – the band are now ready to release their first LP titled ‘CURTAINS’ which is due for an autumn release date of Oct 7th 2016.

‘Hospital’, documents a recent close encounter with death by a member of the band Joe Carroll: “I was on my way home from a friend’s birthday party on a hired coach. There weren’t enough seats so I was standing up at the back. I leaned back and fell out of the door and onto the motorway. I don’t remember much of the incident itself and the next thing I remember was lying on a trolley in the hospital in a neck brace. Luckily I didn’t sustain any lasting injuries but I was fully aware of how close I came to being much worse off. On my second day in hospital I heard a nurse using some sort of machine behind the curtain on the patient next to me. It was bleeping with two harmonious tones. Something told me I had to make a song out of it so I recorded it on my phone (which had miraculously survived the fall). A few days later when I was at home and feeling a little better I put the recording onto my laptop and recorded a rough draft of the song “Hospital”. The song is a document of my experience that night, and my realisation that life is very fragile and something to be cherished.”

HEROES IN HIDING ARE: Joe Carroll – Vox and Acoustic Guitar, Liam McCabe – Vox, Bass, Violin, Sax, electronics, Oisin Jacob – Vox, Electric Guitar and Kalimba and Cian Donohoe – Drums & Percussion.

LOUDEST WHISPER

EP RELEASE: “LOUDEST WHISPER” REL DATE: MAY 6TH

+ BACK TO BASICS TOUR ANNOUNCED!!!

Loudmouth Poster

“A Band that has consistently produced fine and passionate music over the years and captured the imagination of collectors world wide”. – Record Collector

An exhilarating blend of folk, rock and blues with injections of Celtic folklore and mysticism – In many ways Loudest Whisper could be called the O’Reilly Brothers Band, as Brian and Paud O’Reilly have been the cornerstone on which the Loudest Whisper legacy has been built. Formed in the early 1970s, they are best known for their 1974 debut album, The Children of Lir, a folk opera based on the Irish legend of the same name – the album became one of the most sought after records in Ireland, and ranks among the top 100 rarest records in the world.

Heavily influenced by American folk-rock groups like The Lovin’ Spoonful and The Mamas & the Papas, they are always innovative in demonstrating their creativity whether working on their Operatic scale stage productions like “The Children of Lir” and “Buskin” or the solid Folk/Rock/blues band, we know today as Loudest Whisper. The name “Loudest Whisper” was chosen to reflect both sides of their music, “the folky and the heavy”.

Consisting today of Brian O’Reilly – Guitars, piano and vocals, Paud O’Reilly – Drums and vocals and Paul McCartthy – Bass – the band have just announced the release of an EP ‘Loudest Whisper” celebrating their decorated 45 years in Music and their upcoming National Tour “The Back to Basics” tour which will see the three piece band set up around the country in various establishments playing old and new.

JOEY RYAN

Single “Tenderly” Out May 6th

12772005_10153962039643839_7285203995806265240_o

Irish multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Joey Ryan has been performing and writing music for the last decade. Currently based in Cork City, Ireland Ryan has spent the last year finishing off his second record of original material with producer Christian Best (Mick Flannery, O Emperor). The new album ‘Fall Through the Nightwill be released in Ireland in May 2016, with an Irish tour to follow in support before Ryan takes the record to Europe. In conjunction with the album, Joey will release new radio single “Tenderly” on May 6th.

Originally hailing from Wexford, Ireland Ryan has always found himself drawn to music. Picking up guitar at the age of seven, Ryan was brought up on a diet of Dylan, Springsteen, Billy Joel and Nina Simone to name a few from his parents collection which were always playing in the home.

At twenty years of age, Ryan self released his first album Morning Will Come Soon in 2012 to great acclaim. The following year was spent touring Ireland in support of this album, which saw support slots to artists such as Jack L, Mick Flannery and Duke Special. Following on with the success of this campaign, The Redefine EP was released in 2014 under the guise of The Joey Ryan Trio. Lead single Stay Strong was released to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Ireland, and topped the iTunes Rock chart on the first day of its release. Not one to sit around, the Joey Ryan Trio did an extensive tour of Ireland in support of this single which included a support slot with internationally acclaimed band Bastille in DeBarras Folkclub.

Ryan’s sound could be best described as having an atmospheric rock based aesthetic, whilst also incorporating acoustic tones. Ryan writes his guitar-orientated music drawing from his influences, which range from Springsteen to The National, Ryan Adams to Jeff Buckely and Tom Waits to Bon Iver. The last five years have seen Ryan broaden his touring circuit into Europe, with four tours of Germany completed in the last two years alone, as well as tours in the UK, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

ELEANOR MCEVOY ALONE IN THE STUDIO, HER MUSIC STRIPPED TO THE BONE

Eleanor0040 (1)

Released on Friday, 12th February 2016, Naked Music is the title of Eleanor McEvoy’s new album, recorded alone in the studio to create an intimate collection of her music at its most raw – one instrument, one voice, performed live. Best known for her songs Sophie, Harbour, The Secret of Living and of course Only A Woman’s Heart, Eleanor’s new album features exclusive artwork by the famed painter Chris Gollon. Starting in February, Eleanor will be presenting her new show “Naked… Live”.

The seeds for Eleanor and Chris’ artist collaboration were sown after Eleanor bought Chris’ painting ‘Champagne Sheila’ after spotting it in a London gallery. Before leaving, Eleanor left some of her music for Chris and his agent to listen to.

Eleanor was, at the time, finishing some recording where she was “studio-performing”, playing hers and others’ songs as she might at her solo shows. The recordings have a very exposed intimacy, so it seemed a possibility that Chris should be asked to do a painting for the cover in this solitary context.

As a body of work, Eleanor’s recordings acquired the name ‘Naked Music’, which would give a better focus to the two artists’ desire for mutual expression. Being offered this title, and with some song suggestions, Chris was so taken with the songs he completed four paintings in response – two on the ‘Naked’ theme, and two others related to song titles and lyrics. The first ‘Dreaming of Leaving’ was written by Eleanor and Lloyd Cole. The other ‘Lubbock Woman’, a downtrodden cameo, is a song by West Texan legend Terry Allen. The paintings were such a hit, that all four talked their way into the Naked Music CD artwork.

The images, the CD artwork, sat in pride of place in the Metropolis Studio and exerted some influence on the mastering and final track order.

Editors Note: To recognise the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday in July 2015, the Art of Peace Foundation commissioned producer Rupert Hine to produce the album Songs for Tibet II including Eleanor amongst others, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Elbow, Howard Jones and Bob Geldof.

“..once Eleanor McEvoy launched into her fiery set, accompanied by nothing more than her guitar, fiddle and glass-shattering vocal cords, we knew we were in for a fearsome night of music…A lone performer plying a singular trade with considerable élan.” – Siobhain Long, Irish Times

“Her voice is clear and potently charged, one hundred percent believable; when her songs are bitter the acid burns your eyes, when they are sad you can taste the tears.”- Sean Laffey, Irish Music Magazine

“McEvoy’s voice has a depth of expression born from living the songs rather than just singing them. It’s a genuine privilege to be on the outside looking in.” – Jackie Hayden, Hot Press

“It was yet one more triumphant outing for a musical wizard and a woman of immense talent.” Wexford Echo

Christian Collins Single “Sweet Divine” now streaming on Soundcloud!

CHRISTIAN COLLINS SINGLE: ‘SWEET DIVINE’ Out Oct 9TH + Gig: Unitarian Church, Dublin Oct 9th €5

When Christian was nine years old, he resided in the tiny village of Shillelagh, on the edge of Co. Wicklow, Ireland, which rests beside one of the oldest woods in Europe. It was in this quaint setting, full of granite homes with a population of less then 500 that Christian made a connection to nature and music, nurturing his innate creativity. The family garden for example, was once a Friary with a stream flowing through offering a peace that emanated to the mind and you can hear it profoundly though his music, with his lush smooth dark -even celestial at times- vocals that sound like a hybrid of Jeff Buckley and Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons).

With radio stations including Rte 2xm, Rte Radio1, 4FM, KFM, WLRFM, 8Radio, iRadio, KCLRFM and more starting to support his brand new single ‘Sweet Divine”, the future indeed looks bright. “Sweet Divine” was recorded in studio 1 Windmill and was mixed in Temple Lane studios and is out Oct 9th 2015. Get a listen to the track above exclusively on soundcloud!

“Everything I write is always biographical. I have to totally be able to introspectively feel what I am singing about in my songs for them to work. As Oscar Wilde said ‘The artist is not a man who describes, but a man who feels’. In my music I try to encapsulate a feeling opposed to a narrative. Sometimes this can be communicated better through a sound in my vocal opposed to a particular lyric. I recognize the limitations and boundaries in language”.

ROBB MURPHY announces brand new studio album ‘Sleep tonight’

Sleep Tonight cover art

‘Starting as a piece of gentle acoustic pop, with hints of Jose Gonzalez and Damien Rice before cascading into synth-laden electro is no easy task’ BBC 6 Music

Robb Murphy brings his devilishly sexy signature style to the forefront with his soon to be released 2nd studio album, Sleep Tonight. Robb Murphy’s inimitable style derives from his background as a producer/engineer. Retaining all the hallmarks that separates him from his contemporaries in the singer-songwriter world – he has the creativity, the passion, the raw emotion and the haunting beauty that great singer songwriters are made of.

He has the unique ability to transport his listener into his musical world with a combination of stunning acoustics, sublime vocals and heartfelt lyrics. The rhythmic undercurrent of his music entices his audience to join him on a journey of traditional Irish storytelling punctuated throughout with elements of pop, country, classical and folk.

The new album, Sleep Tonight, consists of twelve original songs from Robb, each bearing testament to the organic ‘real’ sound created in Italy two years previous. The music and lyrics of Sleep Tonight illustrate personal memories along with the varied stories of Robb’s native Northern Ireland; making the album a tapestry of music in the grand Irish storytelling tradition. Sleep Tonight’s infectious lead single Mysteries Of The Heart evokes an upbeat Motown pop sound with a Nashville twist.

Colin Deady to release brand new album ‘Out of the Blue’ in March

Colin Deady Press Shot 1COLIN DEADY

SINGLE: ‘THINGS I LOVE THE MOST’ OUT FEB 20TH

Album: ‘Out of the Blue’ OUT March 20th

GIG: SINGLE PRE- LAUNCH SHOW -JAN 29TH DE BARRAS, CLONAKILTY

Singer Songwriter & multi instrumentalist Colin Deady is due to release his Debut Album “Out of the Blue” in March 2015. The album is a collection of 13 songs, an emotional & nostalgic album that defies an easy pigeonhole. Showcasing his ability as a songwriter with beautifully crafted ballads like “Chapel Street” to soulful & bluesy single “Things I love The Most” all blending skillfully into a seamless flow ‘The songs are all about the vocals & lyrics’ says Colin and this is where he hopes the record shines, featuring four part harmonies in many of the songs. ‘I love the human warmth that vocal harmonies can bring to a song, that sense of togetherness, there’s nothing like it’

Lyrically the songs address themes relevant to the human condition…love, hope, mortality, time & human resilience. Colin says ‘there comes a time when we’ve all got to make our way across that wild river. Whether you’re lucky enough to saddle a horse or just wade in the deep doesn’t matter. All that counts in the end is that you get across relatively unscathed’.

Growing up in a 3 bedroom council house with seven siblings, one record player and two records meant only one thing. If you wanted to listen to that record you had to fight for it! Leaving school at the age of 15 Colin began to teach himself how to play guitar. ‘We had very little money and I remember a dark morning in a wet & cold December in 1995 being given a few quid to get the bus from my home town Skibbereen to Cork to buy some desperately needed clothes! Anyway, long story shortened, I came home that evening dressed in the same rags and a brand new guitar! It cost £40 back then and was horrendous to play but I didn’t know any better at the time nor did I care, and anyway it looked nice. I spent that golden age in my bedroom listening to records & figuring out everything by ear’.

It wasn’t until 2004 that Colin began to write his own songs. ‘In the summer of 2004, I had a creative explosion out of nowhere hence the album title Out Of The Blue (that & the fact that I was born blue) I began writing my own songs many of which feature on this album. The fermenting process of an unconventional childhood & a host of life’s challenges somehow transformed into something meaningful & poured out on to the page’ Colin went on to release an EP in 2006 entitled ‘Making Tracks’ and began gigging regularly to master his craft, playing support to twice winner of the Meteor award in the Best Folk/Trad category, Cork’s own John Spillane, who said that Colin had a “lovely touch on the guitar”.

In 2010 he came second in one of the most recognised song-writing competitions in the country, the Sean McCarthy Ballad Competition. In 2012 Colin released his debut single ‘Season’s Tide’, which was shortlisted for the Christie Hennessy Songwriting Competition sponsored by IMRO in Tralee. Since then he has been working on recording his debut album, which is out March 2015.
