Release Single: “Stand Up, Rise Up, Big Up”. Out June 1st on iTunes

The Barley Mob are a 7 piece group hailing from Ireland. Their collective influences have fused to create a fresh blend of uplifting music, embellished and delivered with equal measures of rock riffs, soulful melodies, folk jigs and infectious beats. Born from days of economic uncertainty and personal obstacles, The Barley Mob have set out to entertain, move and relate to their listeners. Through energetic and electric live shows they leave the crowds feeling as though they were involved in something special.

Anthems such as “Never be lost” and “Everybodys’ Music” tell the story of the importance of music in our lives, while a crowd favourite and upcoming single, “Stand Up, Rise Up, Big Up”, urges us all to stand up and be counted amongst our peers.

Since forming in April 2010, they have played over 300 gigs from the smallest snugs to illustrious festivals such as The Electric Picnic. Including winning international “Rising Stars 2010″ as part of Dublin City Soul Festival where they played to over 6000 people in Merrion Square, Dublin. Every gig is a testament and endorsement to the band and has gained them many fans, and resulted in the band being described by the Irish Daily Star as “One of the tightest live bands on the circuit today” and “A ray of sunshine and an utterly brilliant live act” by Rte Radio 1’s Pat Kenny.

The band recently took time out in the studio to record their first album, due for release in early 2013. This complimented earlier success when the group won the International Dublin City Soul Festival “Rising Stars” competition just 3 months after they were formed. They have just announced over 15 tour dates Nationally throughout the summer months ahead.

The BaRLey MOB are: Adam Daly, Neil Butler, Andy Moore, John Heraghty, Conor Byrne, Sean Behan and Barry Kett.

“Nell Bryden is WOW” – Ian Dempsey- TODAY FM

May 25th sees the return of Brooklyn beauty Nell Bryden and the release of her new double A single ‘Buildings And Treetops’/‘If I Forget’ taken from her eagerly awaited second album ‘Shake The Tree’ through a new deal with ADA/Warner Music (June15th).

If I Forget is reminiscent of her Irish hit Second Time Around, with its alluring vocal sassiness (which has become somewhat of a trademark for the New York songstress), it’s catchy chorus and driving rhythmic groove which draws the listener in immediately. Buildings And Treetops is an upbeat and powerful track penned with Nell’s hometown New York in mind. Combining her modern rootsy and acoustic sound, with chocolate box piano keys behind her trademark Gibson guitar, the track features an uplifting and soaring chorus showcasing Nell’s powerful signature vocals at their best.

Nell is currently supporting the legendary Chris Rea on his UK tour, and also has gained the support slot for the forthcoming Duane Eddy tour! Following the release of her debut album ‘What Does It Take’, Nell received National acclaim in Ireland and appeared on Hit TV Show The Late Late Show, not to mention becoming a regular feature on Today FM & Rte Radio1 (+ many other radio stations around the country) for her successful track Second Time Around. Overseas the album remarkably saw six tracks make it on to the Uk’s BBC Radio 2 Playlist!

Constantly going from strength to strength, Nell has performed as special guest on tour with the likes of KT Tunstall, The Counting Crows and with well-known Irish acts-Damien Dempsey, Cathy Davey, MUNDY, Mick Flannery, DUKE SPECIAL & Declan O’Rourke, along with being invited to perform for ESQUIRE MAGAZINE alongside The STEREOPHONICS & STARSAILOR. Nell later secured slots at many high profile events such as BBC Proms In The Park, Guilfest, BBC Maida Vale celebrations and Camp Bestival.

The American songbird has the urban lifestyle in her blood, the country/folk spirit of Americana in her soul, and the great American songbook in her sights.

MATT LUCAS MAKES HIS DEBUT AS A DIRECTOR WITH THE VIDEO FOR THE NEW SINGLE BY THE PROCLAIMERS ‘SPINNING AROUND IN THE AIR’.

‘Spinning Around In The Air’ is released and available for download from Monday 30th April. Taken from the album ‘Like Comedy’ released by Cooking Vinyl on Monday 7th May. (May 4th in Ireland)

Matt Lucas is a huge fan of The Proclaimers and as well as writing the script for the video he makes his director’s debut behind the camera whilst also popping up in a cameo role as the story unfolds.

The video is a satire on a Golden Wedding party set in a Glaswegian bungalow. Proclaimers fans might be a bit surprised by their look, though, as the Reid brothers have been cast by the director to dress up as old ladies.

Charlie said of the requirement imposed on him: “Matt said it was going to be liberating, and I think liberating is an understatement.” Matt described his directorial debut as: “It’s my first, it might be my last as well. I had this idea to do this 50th anniversary party and shoot it as though it’s shot on home video; and there’s a punch going around this party that gets all these respectful senior citizens disgracefully drunk and uninhibited.”

Of the brothers’ costumes, Matt added: “They could turn a man. They’ve turned me straight. I think it’s the start of something new, a new chapter in the lives of one of Britain’s top female duos!”

The Proclaimers describe ‘Spinning Around In The Air’ as “A song about words and how they can change meaning and how you can exaggerate. It’s kind of a bit of a nonsense lyrics but it is as they used to say it’s a catchy song.”

Craig commented, “ It was a unique experience. Matt has great ideas and I think the video really compliments the song.” Charlie said, “We had a great time doing the video. Matt was a brilliant director and kept everything focussed and hilarious alongside a great cast and crew.”

The Proclaimers make several UK festival appearances over the summer followed by a six week UK tour in October and November.

Back in July 2010, Tom McShane and his assembled band congregated in the Oh Yeah! Centre in Belfast to record his debut album within two live sessions held in front of a small audience.

A thought provoking trip across America with his guitar provided the inspiration for the unique and intimate manner in which this album was created. The melancholic and fragile tone to Tom’s voice is particularly felt and portrayed in ‘The Ural Winter’. One which intertwined with the rich trumpet sounds on ‘My Nadir’ elicits an emotional, almost tear-jerking response.

What Tom himself has described as a terrifying experience has certainly merited his leap of faith and the end result is a raw, beautifully personal record which will be forever imprinted on the minds of the audience and listeners alike.

Quote: “Tom’s album is the most genuine record I’ve heard in a very long time – I
was dragged in and left spellbound. Every lyric, every change in tone,
every subtle detail….it all stands out and shine’s through. An album for
the headphones, an album to really cherish. A remarkable collection of
Songs”. (Rigsy, BBC Across The Line)

(Old time blues with Celtic tones) Album ‘Wiley Ways’ out Fri. June 1st + Nationwide Irish Tour Dates Announced including Electric Picnic, full Uk tour and tour support for Jools Holland.

“With Wiley Ways, Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson have crafted as genuine a blues record as you can hope to find in this day and age – simple, powerful, full of the inherent realism we’ve come to expect from these two, a stellar effort” – Samuel J. Fell (Rolling Stone).

The process of this album has been, up to date, one of the most enjoyable experiences Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson have had in making an album; what with banging bed pans and packing Cigarette box Pedals into old leather glad bags for that sought after sound. It has been a shared passion for their music that has molded this album lovingly track by track.

Now they want to share this personal experience of their scrawls and ramblings they have created late into the many early hours from their shed in the bush and long dark nights on the road with the rest of the world.

This dynamic duo is a unique combination that have skillfully combined their music of hill style country blues with old time folk, which has seen them become firm favorites’ on the international festival circuit. Their material is original yet crosses the boundaries as if written from a time once forgotten. ‘Wiley Ways’ will be released June 1st and will be available in all record stores and on iTunes.

IRISH Tour dates:

Fresh from Supporting Snow Patrol on a handful of their arena tour dates, the spectacular and ever ‘EPIC’ (Irish Times) band ‘A Plastic Rose’ are the name on a lot of people’s lips at the moment.

Widely seen as one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from the increasingly fertile Northern Irish music scene, the band have been instrumental in uniting artists and gig-goers alike, knowing that there is great strength in a united front.

On ‘BOY RACER’; the band have yet again captured the sound that makes them such a favourite amongst audiences.
‘Camera.Shutter.Life’ calls to mind the aggression of Rival Schools, the dark mystery of R.E.M., the emotional intensity of Biffy Clyro, as well as the fist-pumping choruses of the Foo Fighters.

ANNOUNCE TWO MAY SHOWS AT COVENTRY CATHEDRAL RUINS

RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘STREETS IN THE SKY’ (COOKCD553) ON MAY 21ST (18th in Ireland)

The Enemy will play two hometown headline shows at Coventry Cathedral Ruins on 21st and 22nd May to coincide with the release of their third album ‘Streets in the Sky’ on 21st May. The band will also be performing an exclusive warm-up show at London’s Borderline on 18th April before their headline gig at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 24th May.

The shows at Coventry Cathedral Ruins will follow the bands homecoming show at S7VEN nightclub in February which sold out in seconds and was packed with fans who featured on the video for the free download song ‘Gimme The Sign’. The Enemy will celebrate the release of their third album in their hometown of Coventry on the Monday and Tuesday of the week of release and the gig promises a host of new songs along with lots of the bands hit tracks and a few special guests.

The Enemy will also be performing a warm-up gig on 18th April at London’s Borderline and with a capacity of only 300, the show will be a sell-out. The tiny gig will precede their headline show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 24th April where they will perform to 2000 people.

‘Streets in the Sky’ is the bands third album and according to the band, their best yet. “Streets In The Sky is the result of more than a years hard work from lots and lots of people. I’m more proud of it than any album we’ve ever made. It sounds massive and the songs are some of the best we’ve written. I can’t wait to see what the public make of it.” says The Enemy’s Tom Clarke.

Recorded in London and LA with Joby J. Ford from seminal US punk band The Bronx, the 12-track album has the signature Enemy anthemic guitar sound yet it is much heavier than the last two albums. It is packed with huge songs from the catchy and forceful free download single ‘Gimme The Sign’ to the instantly catchy anthemic song ‘Bigger Cages (Longer Chains)’ to the melodic and punchy track ‘This Is Real’. New single ‘Saturday’ is a summer anthem in the making with a singalong chorus that is just made to be chanted from the football stadium to the festival fields to the pub on a night out. The Enemy are set to make their mark again in 2012 and ‘Streets in the Sky’ is just the start.

The video for the new single ‘Saturday’ can be seen exclusively on VEVO at

The full album tracklisting is listed below:

Gimme The Sign, Bigger Cages (Longer Chains), Saturday, 1-2-3-4, Like A Dancer, Come Into My World, This Is Real, 2 Kids, Turn It On, It’s A Race, Get Up And Dance, Make A Man

The Enemy formed in hometown Coventry in 2006 by three friends; Andy Hopkins (24, bass), Liam Watts (23, drums) and Tom Clarke (23, vocals/guitar). Their first single ’40 days, 40 nights’ sold out all 1000 copies of its limited edition 7” in less than a day and signaled only the start for The Enemy. Their debut 2007 album ‘We’ll Live and Die in These Towns’ charted at #1 selling over 600,000 copies with big singles ‘Away From Here’ (Top 10) and ‘Had Enough’ (Top 5) gaining the band an army of diehard fans. Their second album ‘Music For The People’ was released in 2009 and charted very strongly at #2 with hit ‘Be Somebody’ continued to be used on ITV’s FA Cup coverage.

To date, the band have sold over half a million tickets for their live gigs and along with their own headline dates and festival appearances, they have performed with the likes of Oasis, Kasabian, Manic Street Preachers and Stereophonics.

Brendan Benson To release new album: What Kind Of World - Release date Fri April 27th (Ireland)

Album is also available to purchase on record store day.

+ Irish date May 24 – Dublin, Ireland – Button Factory!

As much as the story behind Brendan Benson’s fifth solo album is the story of making a record, it is also a story of finding a family — of love, marriage, the birth of a son, and of another kind of family too: one made up of all of the musicians, music-lovers and friends, who have helped to make these songs and build a label to carry them.

Over the years, Benson grew accustomed to doing things alone, releasing four solo albums to date, starting with 1996’s One Mississippi and followed by 2002’s Lapalco and 2005’s Alternative to Love. After a brief hiatus when he co-founded The Raconteurs and spent a few years touring and releasing two albums with them, he made a return to solo work with 2009’s My Old Familiar Friend. It was around this time that he also decided to relocate from Detroit to Nashville, a move that would set in motion events and relationships that would eventually form the backbone to his latest offering, What Kind of World (Lojinx, 2012). “Marriage and having a kid was the big thing,” Benson says of the years between this record and My Old Familiar Friend. Having welcomed his son, Declan, in the spring of 2010, the effect on his music was apparent: “I think it’s given me a whole new motivation, a new vigor,” he says. “If I was having a doubtful moment, I could think of Declan and think ‘I’m doing this for him.’”

The songs on What Kind of World reflect this new clarity. “I think on this record I’m saying a lot of things I never thought I would say,” says Benson. “Maybe I’m just getting older, but I don’t want to hide now in my songs, I just want to be truthful. And I’m realizing that the truth is really interesting — I’m more attracted to honesty these days than to convolution.” It’s a sentiment that surfaces and rings out on the album’s showstopper, “Bad For Me” — a dazzling, irresistible tale of a destructive kind of love. “Lyrically on this song, I’m going out on a limb,” Benson says. “I’m out of my comfort zone, and speaking really plainly. It’s a song where I realized the truth is far more compelling.” Many of these songs are a testament to the friendships Benson has cultivated in Nashville.

Musicians such as Jon Auer (The Posies, Big Star), Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, Big Star, REM), both of whom Benson met at a concert to honor Alex Chilton, as well as Brad Pemberton (Ryan Adam’s Cardinals), Mark Watrous (Loudermilk, Gosling), and Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet) are members of his newfound musical family who have contributed to the creation of Benson’s album.

The spur of inspiration came from elsewhere as well: songwriting collaborations with rising talent Young Hines and country singer Ashley Monroe (Pistol Annies), which eventually led to the creation of “Keep Me” and “Pretty Baby”, respectively. Another track, “Thru the Ceiling,” was written with local writer-producer Jay Joyce, and for “No One Else But You,” Benson tracked down a couple of horn players after a half-remembered conversation at a recent party.

Recorded at Welcome to 1979 in Nashville, engineered by Joe Costa and produced and mixed by Benson himself, What Kind of World will be released on Lojinx in the UK & Europe and on Benson’s own label, Readymade, in the US — a venture that has proved new and exciting while simultaneously restoring a little faith in the power of good people and good music.

The idea for the name of his label dates back to 1995, when Benson was newly signed to Virgin Records and putting out a limited edition EP. “I was doing the artwork, and I just stuck my own imaginary label on there — the name came from Marcel Duchamp, and his readymade objects.”

The creation of his own label not only led to the hand-picked selection of a passionate team for What Kind of World, but it also allows the option for artists Benson produces to have a home at Readymade – Readymade’s partnership with Lojinx also sees the release in Europe of Benson helmed albums by Young Hines and The Lost Brothers. “I’ve never done this before,” he says with evident delight, “but it’s cool to do it totally on my terms.” The multiple outside sources of inspiration and the support from family and friends have left Benson truly excited about What Kind of World. It also helps that it passed the test with his ultimate critic. “When I got my record back from mixing, I knew I had to listen to it,” Benson recalls. “My wife, Declan, and I were all in the room, and we cranked up the volume. Straight away Declan started dancing. He was throwing it down; he just wore himself out by the fourth or fifth song. And then he fell asleep in my arms. I walked around the room with him like that, and it was the coolest, most perfect thing. I knew, then, that I loved my record.” -Laura Barton

OCHO are one of Ireland’s best-kept Electronic secrets. Working hard perfecting their sound for over 2 years, they are finally ready to release their ambitious and infectious debut album YOUNG HUNTING. Combining atmospheric layered trans-cultural electronic music with lush dynamics akin to the likes of Imogen Heap and Mazzy Star.

OCHO are a collaborative collective made up of Stace Gill and DOS, with various guest musicians including Eanna Hickey, Gerry O’Connor, Jill Deering, Suzanne Savage, Lisa Cuthbert and Sarah Gleeson.

Gill has supported and shared the stage with many great musicians over the last few years including James Vincent McMorrow, Declan O’Rourke, The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, and many more, and was recently asked to perform backing vocals for The Dubliner’s Patsy Watchorn’s latest album. Tony Fenton has described Stace Gill as “One of those rare gems worth highlighting” when he awarded her first collaboration with his highly coveted Daily Download spot on Today FM.

Producer and writer DOS began his career with a scholarship to Paul McCartney’s highly acclaimed Music college LIPA, an award given only to 1 student every year based on outstanding ability and potential. DOS is a highly sought after producer, but has committed the majority of his time to this record. He has worked on projects previously with Kool Keith, Guilty Simpson, DJ Tu-Ki and his previous band Exit 15. As Exit 15 DOS was chosen by David Holmes for a Sony PSP soundtrack. DOS has already been signed to labels in the UK and Sweden, but this album is most definitely his work of art. He prides himself on attention to detail and creating new sounds unique to OCHO. DOS is a modest genius, and OCHO’s debut album will for the first time reveal this hidden talent.

DOS’ collaboration with Gill has blended two unique talents into one mind-blowing sound. OCHO’s debut album will command your attention and leave you craving more.

CONSPIRE ON UPCOMING SONG

It’s not exactly the Bro-mance of Pitt and Clooney, but there’s been something special between Marilyn Manson and Johnny Depp for over a decade now. In fact, Manson was Depp’s date to the premiere of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” at Disneyland, and a remix version Manson’s song “The Nobodies” was featured in the 2001 Johnny Depp film From Hell. Now the two have collaborated in song, covering Carly Simon’s legendary kiss-off track “You’re So Vain.” The song will be included on Manson’s upcoming May album Born Villain. Now who had clouds in their coffee and whose scarf it was apricot?

In other Manson news, the band performed “The Beautiful People” live with German industrial band Rammstein last night for the German music awards show ECHO. Log in here to witness it:

http://mediathek.daserste.de/sendungen_a-z/9803956_echo-2012?buchstabe=E.

Marilyn Manson continues to upend the mainstream with each new release, and his upcoming album Born Villain is about to take that a bit further on May 1, 2012. Evidence#1, the single, “No Reflection”: http://bit.ly/mansonnoreflectionsoundcloud.

The tumultuous relationship Marilyn Manson has cultivated with the public through his genre-defying music and anti-status quo message of thinking for oneself has resulted in sold-out tours, protests, legal battles, adoration, hate, more than 50 million records sales, award-winning distilled spirits, several Grammy nominations and, most importantly, a long list of some of the most enduring and powerful singles ever, such as “Lunchbox,” “Get Your Gunn” “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” “The Beautiful People,” “Antichrist Superstar,” “Tourniquet,” “The Dope Show,” “I Don’t Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me),” “The Fight Song,” “mOBSCENE,” “Heart-Shaped Glasses,” “Coma White” and “If I Was Your Vampire.”

Born Villain will be released on Cooking Vinyl and Manson’s own label Hell, Etc. Marilyn Manson has had astounding success across the globe including three albums being certified platinum and three more certified gold in the USA, in addition to three top ten albums and two number-one albums (Mechanical Animals and The Golden Age of Grotesque). Leading up to the release of Born Villain, Marilyn Manson will be touring the United States for the first time since 2009. He kicks it off by headlining the Revolver “Golden Gods Awards” on April 11th at Club Nokia in Los Angeles – his first U.S. performance in nearly three years.

WONDER VILLAINS ROCK U.S. DEBUT AT SXSW FESTIVAL
(Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 – Austin, Texas) Derry’s electro-pop sensations, The Wonder Villains, have this week kicked off a string of American shows with a blinding debut at the SxSW festival in Austin, Texas.

The show, which was organised as part of the Northern Ireland trade mission to the festival, saw the Derry four-piece play in front of a capacity crowd on the same bill as established acts Cashier No 9, General Fiasco, Foy Vance and And So I Watch You From Afar. But it was the young group that created arguably the most buzz with passers-by literally dancing in the street during their infectious set.

Wonder Villains drummer, Kieran Coyle, said: “The show was unbelievable! The whole time we were on stage I just kept thinking how crazy it was to be playing in Texas. The venue was a really cool bar, it was packed and the crowd were really nice to us. It felt like something straight out of a movie!”

Rocky O’Reilly from the band’s management team added: “The band have enjoyed every second of travelling, rehearsing and preparing for this week. Watching them lock into their performance last night in a room packed with international Music, Interactive and Film delegates was a very special moment. Being given the chance to represent Derry, together with the other acts and with the support of Digital Derry has been an inspirational opportunity for the guys. I hope Wonder Villains will have hundreds of career defining moments in the next twenty or thirty years. Last night definitely felt like one.”

Mark Nagurski from Digital Derry, who helped organise the event, said: “The Wonder Villains were absolutely brilliant. This entire trip has been about exposing Derry talent and Derry businesses to the world. The digital guys have spent a week networking hard and showcasing their work, and last night’s performance from The Wonder Villains really capped it off. They were simply brilliant.”

The band will continue to play showcasing events across and around the SxSW festival over the coming week, and, if their debut U.S. performance is anything to go by, this trip is unlikely to be the last.

### ENDS

Notes:

1. The Wonder Villains are an electro-pop band from Derry, Northern Ireland. You can find out more about them on http://wondervillains.bandcamp.com/
2. SxSW is one of the world’s largest industry festivals, attracting tens of thousands of delegates across film, music and interactive media.
