16th May, 2013: Announced today, Ali Campbell and Seth Lakeman are the latest globally-recognised artists to sign worldwide service deals with Cooking Vinyl.

The deals will cover forthcoming albums by both artists.

Campbell is currently self-producing his fifth solo recording at RAK Studios in North London. The former UB40 frontman has sold more than 60m records worldwide, including 4 global number one singles, and continues to perform to sell-out audiences from New Zealand and the Solomon Islands to Germany and the UK. In a long and illustrious career he has received an Ivor Novello Award in recognition of these international achievements.

All four of his previous solo albums have gone Top 20 in the UK.

Lakeman, meanwhile, is currently primed for recording sessions in North Devon with Communion co-founder Ian Grimble for a highly-anticipated seventh solo album, expected in early 2014. The former Mercury Music nominee has recently returned from some hugely successful international excursions of his own – supporting Clannad in Germany and completing an extensive tour of Australia, including high profile appearances at WOMADelaide and Byron Bay Bluesfest. He is due to play third on the bill on Glastonbury’s acoustic stage in June.

Commenting on the deal, David Farrow, Seth Lakeman’s manager at DMF Music Ltd, said:

“Seth and I are very excited to be with a company that seems to be going from strength to strength whilst retaining their independent roots. The deal is forward thinking and I expect to see a lot more of these type of deals in the future where everyone in the chain can make money. We’re very much looking forward to working with Cooking Vinyl’s team.”

Both signings come in the slipstream of some high profile international successes for Cooking Vinyl, including Madness’ Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da (a top ten album in the UK and across Europe) and Billy Bragg’s Tooth & Nail (which has achieved sales almost double of his previous album). Alison Moyet’s The Minutes, meanwhile, this week entered the UK album chart at 5, with the single When I Was Your Girl A-listed at Radio 2.

On Friday May 17th, Cooking Vinyl founder Martin Goldschmidt and Anglo Management’s Garry Blackburn will be part of a keynote panel at The Great Escape festival focused on new artist deals, discussing the successful campaign for Madness.

Rob Collins, Director, Cooking Vinyl said: “Ali and Seth might be worlds apart in the type of music they make – but, being globally-respected and recognised artists, both fit perfectly the Cooking Vinyl mould. We look forward to helping deliver two more fantastic records and adding to our recent successes with Madness, Billy Bragg and now Alison Moyet. Not even halfway in, and 2013 is already a bumper year for the company.”

Cooking Vinyl Records

Cooking Vinyl has developed a reputation as one of Europe’s prime artist-focused independent labels, inspiring an enviable loyalty among its artist roster. It is also in the vanguard of music companies offering innovative services-only deals that claim no stake in artists’ copyrights.

Cooking Vinyl take full responsibility for the management of a project whether functioning as a label or in a services-only setting. Adding more than just marketing muscle, Cooking Vinyl devise and implement worldwide sales, marketing and distribution plans for their artists, working alongside booking agents and artist managers.

Artists signed to Cooking Vinyl include Madness, Amanda Palmer, The Prodigy, Marilyn Manson, Underworld, Ron Sexsmith and Roll Deep. Such is the loyalty and affection among artists for the label that the likes of Frank Black have returned close to 20 times to record fresh collections with them. The Prodigy’s Invaders Music Die was Europe’s biggest selling independent album in 2009.

Cooking Vinyl Records is a division of the CV Group

http://cookingvinyl.com/

CV Group

CV Group comprises several companies including Cooking Vinyl Records, Essential Music & Marketing, CV America, Cooking Vinyl Publishing and Cooking Vinyl Property.

From being awarded Track of the week on Dublins 98 Fm to Single of the week on Today FM, The Hot Sprockets are winning over new fans at every roll of the dice. Hailing from the delta blues mecca that is…Dublin. They are five friends who came together with a shared love of Rock N’ Roll music.

A phenomenal live band, recent years has seen these smart blues-rockers play over 200 gigs including support slots with The Zutons, The View, Divine Comedy, Ida Maria, Peter Hook, Republic of Loose, BP Fallon and a rake of festivals including Indie-Pendence, Castlepalooza, Sea Sessions, Vantastival, Arthurs Day, Mannifest, Electric Picnic, a sold out show at The Roundhouse in London and headlining Whelans “One to Watch” festival.

Their music has been used on everything from Bulmers ad campaigns to BBC’s comedy “Fresh”, Irish film “Stitches” and RTE’s “RAW”. The band recently beat off 1000’s of bands to make it to the Hotpress “Play on the Day” final and got to grace the cover of Hotpress magazine. The bands video for “Cruisin’” was nominated for “Best video” & “Best group” at the Irish Music Television Awards. And the new music video for single SOUL BROTHER has been hotly tipped as the coolest retro video of the year by ..anyone who watches it!

Their kind of Rock N’ Roll music is haunted by the ghost of country and blues – take the good-time revolutionary spirit of MC5, simmer it down to the sounds of Crosby Stills Nash and Young, add some rough-edged Eagles of Death Metal and you are somewhere near the sonic nugget that is The Hot Sprockets.

Best known for her long running comedy shows in which she reprises a number of roles, Katherine Lynch has long held a secret desire to engage her audience with a straight up musical project. When approached by Crashed Music Group last year, (home to among others The Dubliners, Horslips, Mary Coughlin and Sharon Shannon) the timing could not have been better. Lynch had already begun writing songs and the opportunity to pour her creativity into a musical project was both appreciated and happily vindicated. The result is an album that will surprise and delight fans and should herald a new chapter in her remarkable career. In this 4 track EP the albun is highlighted with songs Amsterdam (Ft Sharon Shannon) Burning Sun, S.O.B ( Ft Tupelo) and Settling Dust (the album titled track).

Lynch who hails from Mohill in Leitrim, has proven through her song writing (seven of the albums’ 11 tracks are original) that she is possibly one of the most original and exciting folk musical finds this year. Sharon Shannon has jumped onboard to collaborate on one original song “Amsterdam” while upcoming Dublin roots act Tupelo provides the backdrop for another, “S.O.B.”. Dealing with themes as diverse as loss, love, fathers and home, this album is set to revise all that you thought you knew about Katherine Lynch.

The album is produced by Paul Murphy of the Electric Penguins, and includes four popular covers including “Caledonia”, “Black is the Colour” and John Spillane’s “Magic Nights in the Lobby Bar”. “On Raglan Road (her dark hair)”, is a spectacular 21st century retake on the Luke Kelly classic, in which she even sings alongside her Grand Uncle, the poet and author, Patrick Kavanagh.

JOHN SHEAHAN: A DUBLINER : MONDAY APRIL 15th RTE ONE 9.35PM

The documentary film John Sheahan: A Dubliner is a revealing and beautifully made portrait of a man who was an integral part of the national institution that is The Dubliners. As Barney McKenna once said, John is the ‘memory chip’, the part of the band who never forgets, ‘the mortar between the bricks’ that kept the band together.

John Sheahan was perhaps the most unlikely member of The Dubliners. His quiet nature and classical music training set him apart from his fellow group members. Now at the age of 73 he has reached a major turning point in his life. All of his friends that he once shared the band with in the early days, Luke, Ronnie, Ciarán and Barney are now sadly dead and he has finally decided to close the book on the life of The Dubliners after fifty years of recording and touring.

Sheahan is a deep thinker, a quality musician, composer and a poet with a passion for words. At the age of 25 he was set up for life with a pensionable job as an ESB draftsman. He worked by day and played music by night. In 1964, to the dismay of his father who was a member of An Garda Síochána, he packed in the day job to go full time with The Dubliners.

Now fifty years later it’s a new dawn for John. He has all of the memories neatly packed away into different compartments and is ready to tell his side of The Dubliners story. John Sheahan is an eyewitness to a colourful chapter in Irish history that has formed a large part of our national identity. He has taken a road less travelled and thankfully has survived to tell the tale.

Produced by the award winning Scratch Films and directed by five time IFTA winning director Maurice Sweeney, John Sheahan: A Dubliner is a treasure trove of rare Dubliners archive some of which has never been broadcast in Ireland before and contemporary performances with Damien Dempsey, Declan O’Rourke, Charlie McGettigan, Máire Breatnach, Seán Keane and Neil Martin.

ANNOUNCE ALBUM: HUMAN RELATIONS & DOUBLE A: START AGAIN & TRAINING WHEELS – OUT MAY 17TH + Irish tour dates announced

Senakah are a four-piece band comprising of Vocalist Rob Hope, bass-player Yvonne Conaty, drummer Daragh O’Loughlin and guitarist Brendan O’Gorman. Their music blends guitar laden melodic pop with modern rock. In 2008 the band released their debut album ‘Sweeter Than Bourbon’, which garnered an impressive amount of mutual nods of approval from the music industry in both Ireland and Europe. Including two Top 30 chart single releases (Smile & Clarity), Song of the week on National radio station RTE2FM and was awarded Track of the Day on Today FM.

Syncs also came in on MTV and Various TV Dramas on RTE for songs across the entire album. It wasn’t long before they were invited over to America to do 1 tour, which became almost 300 shows! Fast gathering word of mouth endorsements for their energetic live performances, the band began to sample new songs and gauge from crowd reaction what to place on the next album.

Firm with the notion that they had built up an adequate collection of new songs, the decision became clear to return to Ireland to record the new album. With the production skills of Noel Hogan (The Cranberries) the songs came to life. Recorded over the course of twenty-seven days in the former Bishop’s Palace in Limerick, the new album ‘Human Relations’ is a confident step forward in both songwriting and recording.

As always the bands agenda is that their music brings Senakah into the hearts and minds of the people. Human Relations will be released May 17th and will mark a paramount return to form from the band.

After making a glorious return with last year’s Top 10 album ‘Cheeky For A Reason’, which received numerous glowing reviews – some of the best of the band’s career so far – and also saw them winning Best Album 2012 at the Sunday Mail’s Great Scotland Awards and Album of the Year 2012 at The Scottish Music Awards, The View have compiled some of their finest moments to date on the ‘Seven Year Setlist’ album which will be released on June 14th on Cooking Vinyl. The release of the album comes just days after they support the legendary Stone Roses in front of 50,000 people at Glasgow Green on June 15th.

“Over the years there’s been four studio albums, thousands of gigs, too much vodka and loads of memories on this crazy rock n’ roll journey,” says vocalist / guitarist Kyle Falconer. “So we wanted to create an album that was kinda like stopping and looking back over the years – with a few new tracks too. That’s the Seven Year Setlist.”

‘Seven Year Setlist’ spans The View’s journey to date from ‘Face For The Radio’ which originally featured on their self-titled debut EP which was released in 2006 up to the present day with two new songs in the shape of ‘Dirty Magazine’ and ‘Kill Kyle’. Along the way, it visits the #3 hit ‘Same Jeans’, ‘Wasted Little DJs’ which won Best Track at the NME Awards, another Top 15 hit with ‘Superstar Tradesman’, a Dirty Version of the ‘Which Bitch?’ album highlight ‘Shock Horror’ and ‘How Long’, the first single and opening track from ‘Cheeky For A Reason’ which was accompanied by a video starring Red Road / A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints actor Martin Compston.

The new material on the album reunites the band with Owen Morris (Oasis, The Verve) who produced their Mercury Prize-nominated, #1 album ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’. The majority of the songs on the album were written by Falconer and bassist Kieren Webster, and features further production courtesy of Mike Crossey (Artic Monkeys, Foals) and Youth (Primal Scream).

The full album tracklisting is:

The View – completed by guitarist Pete Reilly and drummer Steven Morrison – recently completed their first full North American coast-to-coast tour which included a sold-out show at New York’s Bowdery Ballroom, a date at famous Los Angeles venue The Troubadour and a set at SXSW. In addition to the Stone Roses show, The View’s summer touring plans encompass two intimate homecoming shows at Dundee’s 20 Rocks venue (May 9th and 10th), a headline set at the Mighty Boof At The Playground festival (May 17th) and a return to T in the Park in July.

Formed in Dundee in 2005 by four former school friends, The View have hit the charts with all four of their albums – ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’ (#1), ‘Which Bitch?’ (#3), ‘Bread and Circuses’ (#14) and ‘Cheeky For A Reason’ (#9) – accumulated over 3.5 million views at YouTube and have excelled at numerous major festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, T in the Park and One Big Weekend. Highlights of their recent tours include headlining to almost 7000 people over three Scottish shows split between Dundee’s Caird Hall and Glasgow’s Barrowlands, as well as a raucous set at Rockness which was abandoned due to safety fears and upgraded to a bigger tent due to the phenomenal turnout from fans.

2013 continues to be an incredibly busy year for the British legends. Friday 22nd March saw them help say good bye to one of London’s most recognisable landmarks, BBC Television Centre, with an hour long set broadcast live on BBC4. Nearly 800,000 people tuned in to watch the concert, giving it the highest viewing figures out side of the five main channels.

The band have also announced details of their biggest show of 2013, with a one off date at Alexandra Palace on the 28th September.

Madness will tour a number of classic British events over the summer. The band will take in ten shows ranging from Sandown Park Racecourse, Newmarket and Northampton County Cricket Ground between June and September. They have also confirmed that the legendary Madness House Of Fun Weekender will take place in November of 2013.

Ticket information for all of Madness’s upcoming shows can be found here.

Described by Joe Duffy on Christmas Eve as ‘The Woman who gave her Heart to the Nation’, Eleanor McEvoy just released ‘If You Leave…’ her first all new studio album since ‘I’d Rather Go Blonde’ (2010).

The new recording features 8 new songs and 4 interpretations including ‘God only Knows’, ‘True Colors’, and ‘Lift the Wings’ from Riverdance. Recorded live in the studio with some of Ireland’s finest players, this album of soulful performances showcases Eleanor’s bluesier neo-retro style.

The new single “Ache in my heart” is track number 5 on the record and will be released on iTunes on April 12th.

RFormerly a session musician, including a long stint with The NSO, she decided whilst with The Mary Black Band, that she should cash in the savings and develop her own career. One week later…her life changed. Mary”s label owner heard Eleanor play a self-penned song that would give a name and title track to their planned all woman compilation… ‘A Woman’s Heart’ Ireland’s best selling album.

Simultaneously she was signed to Geffen where her eponymous album went on to sell ¼ million copies. ‘Precious Little’ was a Billboard hit and ‘Sophie’ has become a worldwide focus and comfort to millions of young people with eating disorders.

The Hot Sprockets are living up to their early promise and stunning debut album (Honey Skippin’) by recording a mighty (yet unnammed) second album which is described as an album “to be listened to in the spirit in which it was made”. This album was recorded in Grouse Lodge, Windmill lane & Orphan Studios, it was produced by Gavin Glass and mixed by Declan Gaffney(U2) & Dougal Lott(Ray Davies) (release dat etbc).

Nationwide tour dates:

April 20th – Whelans, Dublin

UK fans have had to wait four years to see Counting Crows on stage again, but they’ll hardly be complaining in 2013: to coincide with the much awaited tour, the San Francisco rockers are about to release their newest collection of live songs ‘Echoes of the Outlaw Roadshow’ on 8th April through Cooking Vinyl which will compliment other official live recordings the band has released.

Counting Crows followers are in for a real treat with this collection, which was recorded on several dates of their North American tour in 2012. The band’s performances have been renown since the early 90s for their energy and uniqueness: no two shows are the same, with Adam Duritz constantly rewriting songs and mixing them up live for an evening always full of surprises.

“After having one of the best and most adventurous touring years of our career, it’s really satisfying to collect some of the best moments and document them for everyone to hear. I’m glad we didn’t just let the moment pass us by.” Says frontman Adam Duritz.

‘Echoes of the Outlaw Roadshow’ was recorded and mixed by Shawn Dealey, who worked with the band on their latest studio release ‘Underwater Sunshine’.

Maybe instead of asking ourselves how we can make people pay for music, we should ask ourselves how to LET them.”

Amanda Palmer has made an art out of crowd-sourcing and crowd-funding, making headlines last year for raising $1.2 million on Kickstarter to fund her latest album. Amanda says they are simply the modern day versions of the street-performing she did to support herself for many years as the 8ft Bride, and the couch-surfing she’s done throughout her years of touring.

“Couch-surfing and crowd-surfing are essentially the same thing. You’re falling into the audience, and asking your fans to catch you,” she notes. “So when it came time to put out my new album, I turned to crowd-funding, and I ‘fell’ into those thousands of connections I’d made and I asked my crowd to catch me.”

Moreover, she believes that the meaningful human relationships that develop from these acts –and the vulnerability they require – are as old as art itself. “For most of human history musicians and artists have been part of the community – connectors and openers, not untouchable stars. Celebrity is about a lot of people loving you from a distance. But the internet and the content we’re able to share on it is taking us back, and it’s about a few people loving you up close, and those people being enough.”

Lastly, she feels that the lessons she learned as a street performer might just solve the music biz’s current dilemma around trying to get people to pay for music: “Maybe instead of asking ourselves how we can make people pay for music, we should ask ourselves how to LET them.

“A musical resurrection in the making” The Huffington Post

“An extraordinary, modern-sounding and effortlessly stylish comeback” Pop Justice

On May 3rd Cooking Vinyl are proud to present ‘the minutes’, a new album by world-renowned musical icon Alison Moyet, who has achieved sales of more than 20 million, both as a solo artist and half of influential duo Yazoo. ‘the minutes’ is to be preceded by the single ‘When I Was Your Girl’ on 1st April.

Her first album since 2007, ‘the minutes’ was written with and produced by Guy Sigsworth, known for his work with Frou Frou, Robyn, Björk, Goldie and Madonna. It finds Alison’s voice strong and seductive on a collection of exceptional songs. Experimental, captivating and entirely cohesive, this is beauty with an edge.

Clearly indicating a new artistic lease of life, ‘the minutes’ is arguably Alison’s most creatively-brimming album ever. It has subtle parallels to her synth-pop past, but is also bang up-to-date, taking in elements of high-end pop smashes, R&B, modern club sounds and electronic experimentation.

“I avoided listening to anything during the process of writing and recording this album, choosing instead to be lead by my own melodic voice, the one I now find myself with 30-years-in”, says Alison. “Guy Sigsworth returns me to a programmer’s world and marries it with perfect musicality. I have been waiting for him. We have made an album mindless of industry mores that apply to middle-aged women and have shunned all talk ofaudiences, demographics and advert jazz covers. This has easily been my happiest studio experience.”

Panoramic strings and icy electronics start proceedings on album-opener ‘Horizon Flame’, before the massive-chorus-meets-jerky-robotic-R&B of ‘Changeling’ kicks in.

‘Apple Kisses’ highlights the versatility of Alison’s singing; having defined dancefloor synth-pop in Yazoo, this track sees her voice equally at home soaring over a snarling bassline that wouldn’t sound out of place tearing from the Fabric sound system.

Equally schooled in club culture is the punchy house/bass squelch of ‘Right As Rain’, whilst the brighter in mood ‘Love Reign Supreme’ recalls Chris & Cosey’s ‘October Love Song’.

The darkly-beautiful, emotionally-fraught torch song ‘A Place To Stay’ precedes the positive and uplifting ‘Filligree’, which is indicative of the whole album’s cohesive pendulum swing from darkness to light and back again.

Alison Moyet is a Basildon girl born to a French father and English mother. Having left school at 16, she began her musical journey in punk bands and on the Canvey Island pub rock scene. Her studying piano tuning came to an abrupt halt when ‘Only You’ became a worldwide hit for her and Vince Clarke, the duo otherwise known as Yazoo. Completely by accident, she found herself thrust into the spotlight of the mainstream popworld.

Yazoo went on to reinvent British dance music, merging cool synthesised soundscapes with soul. Two albums and a Brit Award for Best New Band later, aged just 23 she signs a solo deal with Columbia and records the multi-million selling debut ‘Alf’. Released in 1984 the album spawned three UK Top 10 hits and wins her a Brit for BestFemale Artist.

In 1985 Moyet performed at the legendary first Live Aid concert and her next album, 1987’s ‘Raindancing’ gaining her a third Brit. From Wembley Arena a world tour follows.

In 1991 Alison released the highly- acclaimed ‘Hoodoo’, a complex collection of raw rock roots and deep soul music that garnered her a Grammy nomination.

1994 saw the release of‘Essex’ which contained the gorgeous acoustic version of Moyet’s cover of Jules Shears’ ‘Whispering Your Name.’

In 1995 ‘Singles’ entered the UK album chart at No.1, and clearly demonstrated just why Alison Moyet is one of Britain’s finest recording artists. Following another sold out tour of the UK (including three nights at the Royal Albert Hall), the ‘Singles’ album was repackaged with a bonus live CD (‘No Overdubs’) and re-entered the Top 20.

Towards the end of 2001Alison made her stage debut in the West End hit musical ‘Chicago’ playing the role of Matron ‘Mama’ Morton to critical acclaim. Signing to Sanctuary in 2002 ‘Hometime’, her first studio album in eight years was released to loud critical acclaim and quickly topped 100,000 sales, catapulting Alison into the Top 5 Best Selling Female UK Artists and gaining her a nomination for Best Female Vocal at the 2003 BRIT Awards.

Her Top 10 album ‘Voice’ was released to great acclaim in September 2004 and quickly earned gold status in the UK selling over a quarter of a million copies.

In 2005 Alison embarked on a sold out UK tour entitled ‘One Blue Voice’, performing with an eight-piece band including a string quartet. That year she also narrated filmed a special version of the ‘One Blue Voice’ concert at The Hospital in Covent Garden which was released on DVD.

The following year, Alison returned to London’s West End in ‘Smaller’ in which she co-starred with long time friend Dawn French. The play was directed by Kathy Burke and opened in London that April after a national tour.

2007 saw the release of her seventh studio album ‘The Turn’, her first record for John Williams’ W14 label. Written with long term collaborator and producer, Pete Glenister, it included three of the songs they wrote for the play ‘Smaller.’

Alison reformed Yazoo briefly with Vince Clarke in 2008 in order to play live the material they had never previously performed. They toured ‘Reconnected’ for 13 weeks throughout Europe and America the following summer – their first shows together in 25 years. Mute went on to release a live album from the tour in 2010 entitled Reconnected Live.

Alison completed a tour of the UK and Europe as the special guest of Michel Legrand at the beginning of 2009, when Sony also released a career spanning Best Of album to celebrate Alison’s 25 years as a solo artist. In Feb 2010 Alison performed with Wilko Johnson at Koko in Camden for the launch of Julian Temple’s documentary about Dr Feelgood and Canvey Island. Later that year she completed a series of tour dates as the special guest of Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

Alison is a Prince’s Trust Ambassador and has performed twice at their Rock Gala concerts at the RoyalAlbert Hall in 2010 and 2011. She also wants us to tell you that she is a doctor. *nods*

In 2012 Alison was invited by Nile Rodgers to perform ‘Stop Me’ alongside himself, Johnny Marr and Mark Ronson at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Later in the same year she completed a trio of sold out dates at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s entitled ‘Rare & Obscured’ where she performed a set of songs less visited, focusing on her catalogue from the last decade.

Alison will be touring from September 30th and throughout October. This tour places ‘the minutes’ centre stage and will focus on the significant electronic material in her back catalogue. Tickets will go onsale at 10am on March 8th:

NEUA are Proud to Announce The Debut Irish Performance by London/Paris/Brighton-based collective ARCHIVE in April 2013.

The London/Paris/Brighton-based collective ARCHIVE released the epic and beautiful album ‘With Us Until You’re Dead’ in Aug last year. Produced by longtime collaborator Jerome Devoise; part-orchestral, part-electronic, part-soulful, part-progressive and wholly emotion-soaked and cinematic, the album touches tangents with Massive Attack, Radiohead, UNKLE, Secret Machines and PinkFloyd. With four dynamic singers fronting a restlessly inventive landscape constructed by Archive’s long-standing core of Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths – their live show is one not to be missed.

Archive’s dark and dramatic 1996 debut Londinium was a recognisedtrip-hop classic. Since then the band has grown steadily to the pointwhere they now sell out arenas and headline festivals throughoutEurope (including last year’s Rock En Seine festival in Paris). Talking about the new album Keeler said “As a collective we’ve always written songs that focused on social and political issues butfor this album I really wanted the songs to be more personal – lovesongs basically. But coming at the subject matter in that non-formatted Archive way.” “I grew up a massive Otis Redding fan and I wanted to bring some ofthat soulfulness to the songs, but at the same time to make themtwisted and experimental.”

- Finnish rock giants agree record deal for the UK and Ireland

- New album, Tears On Tape, due for April 29th (26th in Ireland)

DoubleCross, Cooking Vinyl’s specialist rock imprint, have announced their latest big league signing, with Finnish rock giants HIM agreeing a UK and Ireland deal – with options – for their forthcoming album.

Recorded in their home country with long-time producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, the new album – titled Tears On Tape – is scheduled for release on April 29th.(26th in Ireland)

Formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström, and bassist Mikko “Migé” Paananen, HIM’s previous seven albums have seen them win a worldwide following, becoming the first Finnish act to achieve gold sales status in the US.

A formidable live act, the band is currently limbering up for dates in 2013, including a highly anticipated appearance at Download.

Speaking about the signing, DoubleCross general manager, Phil Hopwood, said: “It’s so exciting to be working with such a great band. HIM are a well respected cornerstone of the genre and the new album delivers on every level. We will make a lot of new fans with this record.”

Fresh from mastering the album in New York, Ville Valo added :- ‘Cooking Vinyl’s history speaks for itself and for some unfathomable reason they have clearly understood HIM’s rather perverse musical fetishes (which is as rare as hen’s teeth !). DoubleCross (of the inverted kind) here we come !”

DoubleCross was launched in August 2012 with a mission to sign the world’s hottest rock and metal acts.

Adding Skindred to its roster last month, the label recently celebrated the release of King Of Conflict, the debut album from The Virginmarys.

January 31st 2013: Cooking Vinyl is delighted to announce the signing of Alison Moyet to a worldwide services deal.

The deal will cover Moyet’s highly-anticipated eighth studio album. Produced by Guy Sigsworth (Madonna, Bjork, Seal, Frou Frou) and scheduled for release in May 2013, the singer describes her new electronic-based material as “Prog-Pop” and “born of reconstructed improvisation”.

A three-times BRIT winner and Grammy nominee, Moyet is managed by Modest! Management. In her career to date she has achieved sales of more than 20 million, both as a solo artist and half of acclaimed 80s duo Yazoo. All of her seven previous studio albums charted in the UK Top 30.

Speaking about the deal, Moyet commented: “It is a very happy place I find myself in. I am more than delighted to be joining Cooking Vinyl and working with a company of people that support the direction I have taken for my eighth solo studio album.

“With the exceptional talent that is Guy Sigsworth as producer and collaborator, we have recorded a collection of original songs that sees me moving away from a generic line up and back into the world of a programmer. Born of reconstructed improvisation I like to think of it as Prog-Pop, but I also like to think of big dogs as small horses. So don’t hang on to that thought long. Unless, of course, you think it astute of me in which case I am right”

Richard Griffiths, director of Modest! Management said: “We are thrilled to be working alongside Cooking Vinyl for Alison’s next release. They were they obvious home for this record, which we are all incredibly proud of.”

Rob Collins, Director, Cooking Vinyl added: “Alison is a legend and has made an outstanding record on her own terms. I think a lot of people will be surprised, in a good way, about how amazing the record is.”

FROM FORTHCOMING DEBUT ALBUM ‘FILTHY EMPIRE’ RELEASED ON 1st FEBRUARY 2013

Heaven’s Basement, release Nothing Left To Lose, from their eagerly anticipated debut album ‘Filthy Empire’, on the 1st February 2013 via Red Bull Records. Nothing Left To Lose is brimming with energy and the neck snap dynamics of great rock’n’roll accompanied with an irrepressible chorus.

‘Filthy Empire’ recorded in LA by producer John Feldmann (Black Veil Brides), is steeped in energy and the resulting slab of rock sees a healthy dose of contemporary freshness added to the bands sound.

The album, features 12 tracks including the singles ‘Fire,Fire’ and ‘Nothing Left To Lose‘ and conjures the greats – the high-wire swagger of Led Zeppelin, the outlaw chaos of Guns’n’Roses – without ever copying their moves. Don’t be like your heroes, be as good as them, seems to be Heaven’s Basement’s game. “We wanted to take the ambition of all the great rock’n’roll that came before us, the essence, but make it sound completely modern and relevant,” explains Sid Glover. “I want people to say , ‘Fuck man, I haven’t heard an album that’s made me feel this pumped up in ages, I haven’t seen a band with this much energy and ‘Go fuck yourself’ attitude…’” It’s hard to imagine the album stirring any other kind of reaction, to be honest, and for Heaven’s Basement, this is clearly only the beginning.
