THE BLACKOUT

COOKCD574 - The Blackout - Start The Party

SINGLE ‘RUNNING SCARED’ (FRYDL552) OUT 18th JANUARY 2013

HOTTEST RECORD IN THE WORLD ON BBC RADIO 1

ALBUM ‘START THE PARTY’ (COOKCD574) OUT 18th JANUARY 2013 VIA COOKING VINYL

What we all really need is a well-meaning slap in the face – a boost to the system, a kick up the backside and a blast of positive energy to get us through, over and above these grim times. Luckily for all, The Blackout have just the remedy in the form of their new album Start The Party due out18th January 2013.

Featuring 11 new tracks of non-stop, high-energy, full-monty, balls-to-wall rock anthems, the latest creative splatter from Merthyr Tydfil‘s brightest stars is the explosion of energy and unbridled enjoyment we’ve all been seeking.

“Music can be a great form of escapism and we tried to fully encapsulate that with this record,” says vocalist Gavin Butler. “There’s a lot of bands out there at the moment that do deal with this depression and the shit state of the world, but that’s just not us. We wanted to write about enjoying yourself and not worrying about things. Take a half hour out of your life, switch off and hear something fun!”

Recorded in the heart of the West Country at The Distillery Studios with former-A vocalist and long-time collaborator Jason Perry behind the desk, Start The Party sees the boys embracing everything that they – and their fans – love the most.

“It’s about positivity, moving on and getting on with life,” says co-vocalist Sean Smith.

From the party-heavy title-track, through the hip-shaking ‘We Live On’ and the lighter-waving ballad of ‘You’ the band have created a wealth of hooks and catchy melodies that will send crowds around the planet hoarse from excitement. Once they’re delivered by their duelling vocalists, these songs will further cement The Blackout‘s position as one of the most entertaining and enigmatic live bands in the UK.

“This album captures our real personality,” says Sean. “That laryiness, the yobbish, laddish, loud, shouting happy gang that’s all about doing what we want and having a good time. We’re like the Beastie Boys meets Andrew W.K. meets Dirty Sanchez.”

“All I know is that this record contains the best songs we’ve ever written,” says Gavin. “We can only hope that it’s the one that gets us our own Caribbean islands… “

Adding to their explosive live performances, their party-hard attitude, perpetual witty banter and award-winning good looks (we made that last bit up), Start The Party proves – as a bold and non-nonsense fact – that The Blackout “are still the best in town!

Album: King Of Conflict (DXXCD001)

Label: DoubleCross Records

Release Date: 1ST  February 2013

‘Imagine if Rock ‘n’ Roll were crack, the world be shaking, sweating & begging for a hit – & The Virginmarys would be the Goddamn dealer!’ – 5/5 Artrocker review for Dead Man’s Shoes…

The BBC hailed their sound as “meaty stuff,” calling it “raw, intoxicating rock and roll in the finest traditions of the genre.”

· Kerrang! gave them 4 stars, complimenting them for their “noisy, raw, retro-fueled songs.”

 · They won the 2012 HMV Next Big Thing award, which got them a slot on the Isle of Wight festival (they killed, by the way).

· They also wrecked audiences at the Download and Sonisphere festivals, along most of Europe over the past year or so.

· After seeing them live, Altsounds wrote, “they own the stage so much right now, I doubt anyone would blink an eye if they took it home with them.”

It’s been one hell of an intriguing journey for the boys from Macclesfield. From the get go, The Virginmarys decided that before recording an album or signing a record deal, they were going to serve their musical apprenticeship in true rock ‘n’ roll tradition, by getting out on the road, taking their music to every point of the compass & consequently earning their spurs the old fashion way & thus developing their exhilarating, well honed sound & evolving into the well tuned rock beast that now stands proudly before you.

Over the past few years, the alternative power trio have clocked up thousands of miles, touring the UK with the likes of Slash, Skunk Anansie, Reverend & The Maker, Feeder, Eagles Of Death Metal, Ash, Feeder & We Are Scientists, along with many of their own headline shows. In fact Slash wears one of the band’s t-shirts. We even have photographic evidence to back this claim up, should you doubt our words. The band has also toured extensively throughout Europe and they played their first American shows at this year’s CMJ.

The Virginmarys have also issued a series of self-released EP’s, which are currently changing hands on Amazon for upwards of forty squid. After receiving iTunes Rewind 2010 -Best Breakthrough Rock Band, earlier this year the band’s hard work & endeavor were rewarded, when they scored a colossal victory with a prodigious iTunes… Single Of The Week, both in the UK & US for ‘Bang Bang Bang.’

And now The Virginmarys have transcended its influences and are ready to be unleashed upon the unsuspecting rock world. Earlier this year, the band signed to DoubleCross Records, Cooking Vinyl’s new rock imprint and to American label Wind-up Records, giving them a simultaneous release both sides of the Atlantic. The band’s monstrous debut album, ‘King Of Conflict’ will be released in February 2013.

‘King Of Conflict’ was produced by Toby Jepson & mixed by Chris Sheldon & is a triumphant, taut album, where the songs are king & where the lyrics weave a tantalizing narrative of real human emotions & barbed snippets of undiscriminating truths

The Virginmarys are Ally Dickaty – Vocals/Guitar, Matt Rose – Bass /Vocals & Danny Dolan – Drums.

The band have garnered a powerful word of mouth endorsement from delivering exciting and energetic live shows; enthralling audiences with songs detailing poignant personal experiences to scathing political statements.

‘Brilliant!” Q MAGAZINE (UK)

“One of the best come backs in a long time.” -HOTPRESS ****

“Someone should really tell Ian Astbury that middle-aged rock stars living in LA are, by tradition, supposed to make crap records. He seems to be set on skipping that chapter in the great rock biography. Oh, and do play this on loud.”- EVENING HERALD ****

“Sounding leaner and more streamlined, packs a reasonable wallop.” AGENDA MAGAZINE Album of the Week (Sunday Business Post ) ****

“Honey From A Knife, rooted in the seductiveness of addiction, was inspired by the following Buddhist precept, and Ian Astbury states that the accompanying film reveals a “desperate descent into a fractured psyche”

“Wealth and beauty, to a man who will not relinquish them, are like a knife covered with honey which, even before he has had the pleasure of eating the honey, cuts the tongue of the child that licks it”.

Of many positive live reviews The Hollywood Reporter observed the band’s live performance in New York City as having “returned with a vengeance” and referred to Astbury as “a menacing tyrant of cool”.

Choice of Weapon was released in North America on May 22 and debuted at #15 on Canada’s Current Album Charts, and #2 on both the Indie Chart and the Hard Chart. THE SAW DOCTORS

Single ‘Indian Summer” out Fri. June 22nd 2012

Having just returned home from a 6-week sold out tour in the USA, one of Ireland’s most loved native bands; The Saw Doctors, are ready to hit the road again around the country and have just announced details of a new Summer single: Indian Summer.

‘Indian Summer’ was mixed by Dave Bascombe who produced Lady Antebellum ‘Need You Now’, Natalie Imbruglia, Kylie Minogue & Manic Street Preachers among others. The strings where arranged by David Davidson in Nashville and additional vocals by Maria Scaroni, Eirini Tornesaki and Annie Rose Spayne.

“We wrote ‘Indian Summer’ about a beautiful trip we had taken on one of the finest weekends of the year to play the Cois Farraige Festival in Kilkee” Says Leo Moran. “We headed down Friday evening, with the windows and the sun-roof open all the way along the coast road. We arrived at the big tent, got our passes, listened to a song or two and headed up the town to see what was going on. We played there on the Saturday night, got a few in from the streets and wrote a song to commemorate the romanticism of traveling down the spectacularly beautiful West Coast of Clare”

Indian Summer is The Saw Doctors follow up single to their Christmas hit, ‘Downtown featuring Petula Clark’, which reached No. 2 in the Irish Christmas Charts, beaten only by the X Factor band, Little Mix.

George Mac Callum filmed a video for ‘Indian Summer’ at the Cornbury Festival in Oxfordshire last July, using a vintage green Volkswagon Camper Van.  Click on link for video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksLBkeOUZnE

MARILYN MANSON

TO RELEASE ALBUM BORN VILLAIN (COOKCD554) April 30th (27th in Ireland)

+ Lead single “No Reflection” (FRYDL509)

Los Angeles, CA…Marilyn Manson continues to upend the mainstream with each new release, and his upcoming album Born Villain is about to take that a bit further on April 30th, 2012. Evidence #1, the single; “No Reflection”.

“No Reflection” is now available exclusively on iTunes. Blabbermouth was first to catch the premiere, reporting that the song’s chugging, faint-friendly distortion offers plenty of sonic waves for Manson to glide over reminiscent of glory-era Ministry.

“The new record put simply has the ambition and determination of how I started making music in the first place,” Manson says. “It sounds like the first record in that it’s not afraid to do anything. I had to remove myself from my lifestyle and start fresh.”

“It doesn’t really sound like any of my old records,” Manson says in an upcoming Revolver magazine cover story. “In fact it sort of sounds like what I listened to before I made records — Killing Joke, Joy Division, Revolting Cocks, Bauhaus, Birthday Party…It’s very rhythm-driven. I think this will probably be the grandest concept record of all.

The tumultuous relationship Marilyn Manson has cultivated with the public through his genre-defying music and anti-status quo message of thinking for oneself has resulted in sold-out tours, protests, legal battles, adoration, hate, more than 50 million records sales, award-winning distilled spirits, several Grammy nominations and, most importantly, a long list of some of the most enduring and powerful singles ever, such as “Lunchbox,” “Get Your Gunn” “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” “The Beautiful People,” “Antichrist Superstar,” “Tourniquet,” “The Dope Show,” “I Don’t Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me),” “The Fight Song,” “Mobscene “Heart-Shaped Glasses,” “Coma White” and “If I Was Your Vampire.”

Born Villain will be released on Cooking Vinyl and Manson’s own label Hell, Etc.  Marilyn Manson has had astounding success across the globe including three albums being certified platinum and three more certified gold in the USA, in addition to three top ten albums and two number-one albums (Mechanical Animals and The Golden Age of Grotesque).

THE CULT

NEW STUDIO ALBUM ‘Weapon Of Choice’

Release date May 18th

One of the finest British rock acts to have enjoyed worldwide success over the last few decades, The Cult has wrapped up recording ‘Choice of Weapon’, the group’s first studio album in five years.  Released on 21st May 2012 in UK (and May 18th in Ireland) on their new UK label Cooking Vinyl, its 10 tracks reveal the band at its rawest and most visceral, encapsulating cinematic visions and themes of love, revolt, and redemption.   Fans can get an early taster of the album from 2pm on Tuesday 31st January when the track ‘Lucifer’ will be available as a free download through the band’s website www.thecult.us.  Details are being confirmed for a worldwide tour and will be announced soon.

‘Choice of Weapon’ is the follow up to the critically-acclaimed 2007 release ‘Born Into This’ that the UK’s Mojo magazine called “a wholehearted, utopian and irrefutably exciting record.”  Long-time Cult collaborator and producer Bob Rock (Metallica, Bush) – who produced one of The Cult’s most successful albums, the platinum-certified ‘Sonic Temple’ – put the finishing touches on the foundations that were laid by co-producer Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age, U.N.K.L.E., Masters of Reality).

The record was written by Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, recorded in New York City, Los Angeles, the California high desert, and the band’s Witch Mountain studios in the Hollywood Hills between July and December 2011.  The new release features founding members Astbury on vocals and Duffy on guitars, with drummer John Tempesta and bassist Chris Wyse.  “We have had the opportunity to work with two of the most influential and talented producers in the world today,” said Astbury.  “They pushed us beyond our comfort zone, and helped us craft ‘Choice of Weapon.’”

The album is aimed at the heart of The Cult’s loyal following.  It reflects the current discontent and destruction of our eco systems, the search for individual meaning against a tide of rampant materialism, narcissism and disconnected lives.  “We went deeper . . . we worked a bit harder on this record.  We have great fans and they deserve our best,” added Duffy, “and I feel this is one of our best records, maybe the best.”

The album is released as a special edition fan pack on May 14th, followed by digital and double vinyl on May 21st (May 18th in Ireland) and the CD and deluxe CD’s on June 4th (June 1st in Ireland) .

The tracklisting is as follows:

Honey from a Knife / Elemental Light / The Wolf / Life > Death / For The Animals

Amnesia / Wilderness Now / Lucifer / A Pale Horse / This Night In The City Forever

Bonus CD tracks:

Every Man And Woman Is A Star / Embers / Until The Light Takes Us / Siberia

The Saw Doctors

Single: ’Downtown’ Ft. Petula Clark Out Dec 9th via iTunes

The Saw Doctors have teamed up with the iconic Petula Clark to record a version of that legendary chanteuse’s ‘Downtown’. The song has been a live favourite in Saw Doctors’ shows for the past year and when the band asked Petula to re-record the vocal to her 1965 classic she was happy to comply.

If we think back to the popular culture of music in the 1960’s, there are a few songs that come to mind which are as relevant today as they were back then.  This Christmas, Ireland’s most loved household band ‘The Saw Doctors’ release their cover version of “Downtown”, the sensational pop song composed by Tony Hatch which was recorded and made an International hit by Petula Clark. At the time of its release in 1965, ‘Downtown’ sold three million copies, hitting the No.1 slot in the US and becoming the first of fifteen consecutive Top 40 hits for Petula across the pond. Petula subsequently won a Grammy for “Best Rock & Roll Record” for Downtown and in 2003 her recording of Downtown was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame. She is still the best-selling female British solo artist of all time.

The cover version of Downtown by The Saw Doctors (out on Dec 9th 2011) features the wonderful voice of original singer Petula Clark. Their will also be an exclusive Music Video hosted on the Saw Doctors YouTube channel which will go live nearer to release date which also features Petula Clark. The video is produced and filmed by Eugene O Connor (Father Ted + Kilnascully) who originally filmed the video for their hit song I Uesta Lover. Petula also recently shot her parts for the song’s video in Paris.

In the past year, The Saw Doctors blazed back phoenix-like to their rightful place as one of the nation’s most-loved bands. In 2010, after the first week of ‘The Further Adventures of….’ album being released, it knocked off mercury winners The XX and Villagers from the No.1 position on the Indie Charts by coming straight in at No. 1! (It also came in at a No. 7 position on the mainstream charts and maintained a Top 10 position for over 6 weeks).

A vast list of Chart success on numerous songs over the years such as well known hits: “N17”, a cover of SUGABABES “About You Now”, (note that The Sugababes’ original version of About You Now stalled at No. 2 in the Irish Chart while The Saw Doctors reached No. 1!) and more recently the Christmas 2010 No. 1 acapella version of ‘Red Cortina’, have helped The Saw Doctors maintain their defiant musical stance on the Irish music scene.

The current lineup features:  Leo Moran (vocals, guitar), Davy Carton (vocals, guitar), Kevin Duffy (keyboards), Anthony Thistlethwaite (bass guitar, saxophone), and new drummer and co writer Eímhín Cradock (drums + vocals).

“Album of the week” RTE Radio 1

‘Made for crowd sing-a-longs’ Irish Times

“Celebrating the parts of real Ireland that most other bands don’t reach.” HOTPRESS****

In the last year, The Saw Doctors blazed back phoenix-like, to their rightful place as one of the nation’s most-loved bands. It’s 2011 and here is a band withstanding the odds of the current music age, who still know how to recreate and procreate the songs that put them were they are now; part of Irelands elite, well-known and most loved bands of the past two decades.‘Hazard’, their new single, is a song about post-Celtic tiger Ireland where almost half a million people are back on the Dole.

Born into a repressed, catholic, conservative, small-town, agrarian, angst-ridden and show band infested society, The Saw Doctors are trying to preserve the positive elements of their background and marry them to the sounds which have culturally invaded their milieu through TV, radio, 45’s, fast food restaurants, 24 hour petrol stations and electric blankets.

The Saw Doctors play the following Irish shows:

01 October Saturday, Fontwell Racecourse

12 November Saturday, Dublin Academy

18 November Friday, Belfast Mandela Hall

20 November Sunday, Derry Millennium Forum

THE TOM FULLER BAND

‘ASK’:: Irish Release Date: Fri Sept 2nd 2011

“Kick ass and take names” – it’s a saying that they like to use in Chicago, the birthplace of The Tom Fuller Band, to describe how to get the job done.  Not in an Al Capone way you understand.  Although Tom’s grandmother did work for the notorious gangster.  But rather by enlisting some of the biggest names in the music industry to produce the Fuller’s third studio album ASK.

On first listen you can’t help but be decadently seduced by the voodoo drums of the opening track Lovers, hooked on the impossibly contagious title track ASK and carried away by the closing magical escapism of Garden Dreaming Days. ASK is an album that continually manages to surprise, challenge, captivate and inspire.

Tom Fuller is a maverick and a troubadour. He’s also the same guy who, as a kid buying his first Paul McCartney album, never imagined that he would wind up recording the new album with two of his band members, Abe Laborie Jr. and Brian Ray.

Produced by the studio maestro Rick Chudacoff, (Alison Krauss, Smokey Robinson), and mixed by Cenzo Townsend and Dave Bascombe (U2, Bon Jovi, Kaiser Chiefs), the widescreen cinematic vision of Fuller’s music continues to flourish, as was evident on his 2005 debut album Chasing An Illusion and 2009’s subsequent sophomore albumAbstract Man.

After trailblazing a path across America, the addition of new band members, and recording in both LA and Chicago, comes this life affirming album that is at once emotional and engaging. ‘It’s been a one hell of a journey,” says Fuller. “The new album’s like a songbook that’s accompanied me all along the trail. Every track means so much to me. I think it’s my strongest collection of songs to date.”

Hailing from the Windy City, the Tom Fuller Band embodies the soul and creative energy of the City’s rich musical heritage – from Chicago’s finest rhythm and blues, through Cheap Trick to late period Wilco.  The songs embrace Fuller’s distinctive blend of innovative melodies and chord structures, alongside lyrics that engage, uplift and resonate with a passion and truth.

ASK is Fuller’s first major UK/Eire release.

THE SAW DOCTORS

//THE SAW DOCTORS// Single ‘Be Yourself” out Fri. July 8th

Taken from The No. 1 charted Irish Album:  ‘The further adventures of….”

+ **FREE GIG** The Saw Doctors will play a free concert in the Dublin Civic Offices (near Templebar) on Sunday June 19th as part of Mayo Alive Festival. On stage at 5PM.

It’s 2011 and here is a band withstanding the odds of the current music age, who still know how to recreate the tunes that put them among the most loved bands of the past two decades. ‘Be Yourself’ is the their third single taken from the latest studio album titled The Further Adventures of..… Their new single’s chorus enthusiastically proclaims the line “you’ve got to be yourself you can’t be anyone else”, Co writer Eímhín Cradock explains: “You can achieve all the heights that life brings; money; power; high social standing; etc. but if you’ve achieved it by emulating another person you’ve got nothing you can call your own. Racing through life looking for kudos from other people, without being true to your own code, is a lonely unfulfilling road. In a world of  spin and half truths,  Be Yourself is a song about being honest and being truthful”.

In the first week of The Further Adventures of…. album being released, it knocked off mercury winners The XX and Villagers from the No.1 position on the Indie Charts by coming straight in at No. 1! (and they also came in at a No. 7 position on the mainstream charts and maintained a Top 10 position for over 6 weeks). It has been a vast list of Chart success on numerous songs over the years such as well known favourites: “N17”, a cover of SUGABABES “About You Now”, (note that The Sugababes’ original version of About You Now stalled at No. 2 in the Irish Chart while The Saw Doctors reached No. 1!) and more recently the Christmas 2010 No. 1 acapella version of their hit song ‘Red Cortina’ plus many more, that have helped The Saw Doctors maintain their defiant musical stance on the scene. The new single will only reinstate that.

The current lineup features:  Leo Moran (vocals, guitar), Davy Carton (vocals, guitar), Kevin Duffy (keyboards), Anthony Thistlethwaite (bass guitar, saxophone), and new drummer and co writer Eímhín Cradock (drums + vocals). On Going Out In Style, Dropkick Murphys throw a 45 minute, 49 second party to end all parties, all the while reveling in the Irish tradition of telling tales of triumph, tragedy and celebration through music. The band revives the art of the album as a cohesive whole on this raucous and rollicking romp overflowing with punk rock energy, folk soul, and rebellious spirit. Dropkick Murphys deliver one anthem after another. “Hang ‘Em High” ignites the album with a gang chant into a unforgettable bagpipe laden riff, driving guitars and big drums. Nodding to AC/DC while infusing flourishes of Celtic soul, “Hang ‘Em High” is the ultimate battle cry. Then there’s “Take ‘Em Down,” which continues to display the band’s social consciousness and their unwavering support for organized labor.

On songs such as “Broken Hymns” and “Cruel” the band explores new territory, incorporating a myriad of sounds and textures with arena-ready drum beats, diverse instrumentation and epic refrains.Fans will get a taste of the new music before it’s released when Dropkick Murphys–Ken Casey (lead vocals, bass guitar), Al Barr (lead vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, vocals), James Lynch (guitar, vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, accordion, whistle, vocals), Jeff DaRosa (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, harmonica, vocals) and Scruffy Wallace (bagpipes)–hit the road February 23 for their annual St. Patrick’s Day U.S. tour.  The trek, featuring Against Me! as support on most dates, will wind up in Boston for the band’s run of St. Patty’s Day week hometown gigs.  Also look for the Murphys to tour Europe in April and August, with additional U.S. dates planned for May and June.Going Out In Style continues in the great storytelling tradition. Through song, story or play, the music often inspires the author–as in James Joyce’s final work Finnegan’s Wake, based on an 1850s music hall ballad of the same name–and sometimes the story inspires the song.  These songs take the band’s own personal experiences and family folklore and roll them into the story of one fictional character, Cornelius Larkin.

Fueled by fiery riffs and unforgettable choruses, Going Out In Style traces the journey of Larkin, whether it’s the Irish immigrant’s first person account of his own wake or the band’s in depth interpretation of his life and lineage throughout the album’s lyrics. Casey reveals, “Cornelius has passed on to the other side, and the album becomes a retrospective of his life. He’s one of those guys who immigrated to America at 16, got drafted into the Korean War, married young, had lots of kids, worked hard, and lived a full life rife with different characters, ups and downs, and trials and tribulations. Some of the stories are fictional, but most are odes to our grandparents, friends, and loved ones.”

The album’s title track gave birth to Cornelius. It’s a rousing celebratory anthem complete with guest vocals by NOFX’s Fat Mike, The Living End’s Chris Cheney and Rescue Me mainstay, actor/comedian Lenny Clarke. “Going Out In Style” roars with a gang-style refrain and simultaneously heartfelt and hilarious lyrics.  “We all have this romantic idea that our death will be like an international day of mourning, but that’s not going to happen,” chuckles Barr. “The song has two sides. There’s a serious side recounting this Larkin’s life, and then there are all of these fun parts about various women and characters.”For Going Out In Style, Dropkick Murphys even enlisted the vocal talents of the legendary Bruce Springsteen–whom they first met at a DKM gig in New York and later collaborated with onstage at one of Springsteen’s Boston shows. Springsteen swaps verses with Casey for a spirited take on the old standard “Peg O’ My Heart.”  “It has a classic old fifties rock and roll feel,” says Casey.  “Both of my grandmothers are named Peg. One grandmother, Peg Casey, is always saying, ‘When are you going to do that song? Your grandfather always sang it to me!’ The time signature changed, so hopefully they still appreciate it when they hear it.”

The collaboration is a perfect intergenerational bridge for fans and band alike. Dropkick Murphys have always strongly resonated with audiences young and old due to their working class ethos and cathartic sonic revelry.  “It links two generations,” says Casey. “We’re spanning a lot of years of music here, yet our songs share similar themes, stories, and values.”Another song that ties together the story of Cornelius and resonates with a larger audience is the powerful and poignant first single, “Memorial Day.” Barrsays, “It’s a song that honors our grandparents’ generation as well as Cornelius himself. There was something amazing about that time. They struggled through all kinds of adversity, and it’s inspiring.”The tale of Cornelius doesn’t end with Going Out In Style. In order to round the story out, the band called on their friend, best-selling author Michael Patrick MacDonald (All Souls, Easter Rising). MacDonald wrote an eloquent obituary for Cornelius Larkin in the album’s liner notes, along with the beginnings of a more extensive narrative about the album’s main character for listeners to delve into. MacDonald became immensely engrossed in the character’s development, particularly as Cornelius began to take on elements of MacDonald’s own family history. At that point, the story grew into a much longer saga that will be available on the band’s website in conjunction with the album release–and the story could evolve into a book sometime in 2011.“

Collaborating with the Dropkick Murphys is, for me, a family affair,” says MacDonald. “Cornelius Larkin represents all that we come from. And this story is about embracing the good, the bad, the ugly and beautiful that we all come from; ultimately learning to work with ALL of it. Past is truly prelude…”Casey elaborates, “I wrote an outline which began leading to songs. At the same time, I wanted the obituary to have that author’s flair, a little more description, a more detailed narrative, and a deeper story. Michael listened to the songs we’d written, and he fleshed out the story and really put a name and a face on the character. It’s a new approach and a unique partnership, especially in this day and age. The songs inspire the story, and the story inspires the songs. It’s a deep record, and it celebrates a life.”Going Out In Style signals the beginning of another chapter in Dropkick Murphys’ own story. Barr explains, “I hope fans can listen to Going Out In Style with the same excitement we have. It’s all about family and friends for us. No bullshit…we don’t like to convolute things. That translates to the music, and the fans appreciate it.  It’s a beautiful thing, and I can’t wait to introduce Cornelius Larkin to the world.”

Red Cortina (First Love Stays With You Forever): A song about the first time you fell in love… As the lyric says: Christmas Party Seventy-Seven… Heart Beat Like An Earthly Tremor…. "Since we hired Good Seed PR we have seen a dramatic increase in the amount of PR we’re getting for our artists in Ireland. The service and reporting we’re getting from Linda is spot on. She’s helpful, professional and on the ball, and our artists love her. I’m not sure I should be saying this, as she’s so good, I don’t really want to share…" - Anette Collins Head of International– Cooking Vinyl Records
