Red Bull Records Scores First #1 Single With AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)”

Red Bull Records has earned its first #1 hit. AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” has risen to the top slot on the Mediabase Alternative Chart twelve weeks after its debut. “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” is the first single off the LA band’s new album Run, released last month. Run debuted at #9 on the Billboard Sales chart and #17 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, with over 30k sold first week. Written, performed and produced by musical architect Aaron Bruno, Run is the follow-up to gold-certified debut album Megalithic Symphony. “Sail,” the chart-topping, record-breaking first single off Megalithic Symphony is 6x platinum in the US, with multi-platinum certifications around the globe. It holds the record for the most weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by an independent artist, the second longest for any artist.

“Aaron Bruno is a rare talent and “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” truly stands out from other songs at Alternative radio,” says Red Bull Records Managing Director Greg Hammer. “Since the release of “Sail” in 2011, our team has worked tirelessly on AWOLNATION and we are thrilled that our patience and commitment to artist development has paid off. It is a great achievement for both artist and label.” AWOLNATION will play several US festival shows over the next month before beginning a North American headline tour on May 27th, and their song “I Am” is currently featured in the new World of Red Bull commercial, which premiered last week. This week marks the release of The Prodigy’s long awaited 6th studio album ‘The Day Is My Enemy’. Having received smash reviews pretty much across the board – Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim prove they still have the Midas touch when it comes to incendiary electronic rock with zero compromise.

“The most exciting – and most angrily British – album of the year” ***** Kerrang!

“The strongest and most confident Prodigy album since ‘The Fat Of The Land” 8/10 NME

Having streamed the full album on iTunes globally last week, this week sees Liam Howlett interviewed by Eddy Temple Morris for his ‘Rebel Radio’ playlist, exclusive to Spotify where they talk about the tracks that shaped his life and career, as well as taking part in the renowned ‘Ask Me Anything’ feature on global news & entertainment site Reddit last night.

On his Spotify playlist Liam documents his lifetime in music. From the very beginning, aged about 10 or 12, he felt an instant affinity with Ska culture on hearing The Specials ‘Too Much Too Young’ – “I just remember standing in the record shop and looking at The Specials album and seeing those guys and thinking, man I wanna be in this gang, whoever these guys are these guys are cool you know… It’s the live version it’s just got that punk energy about it”. He moves on cite Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, Meat Beat Manifesto, Beastie Boys right through to The Ragga Twins, the White Stripes, QOTSA, Rage Against The Machine, Slipknot and even Ennio Morricone… “Morricone is quite clearly a genius and he is a man that, when I talk about sound, he’s a man that makes sound that you think ‘what is that? What made that noise? What is that?’ and that gives you a feeling and it’s just like, he’s just such a clever artist and producer”.

It’s a brilliant insight into the mind of the man who’s given us 20+ years of genre defining music and well worth a listen.

LUCY SPRAGGAN

ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘UNSINKABLE’ OUT 10TH APRIL

NEW ALBUM ‘WE ARE’ RELEASED 1st MAY

MAY HEADLINE TOUR DATES ON SALE NOW for Uk & Ireland

Following on her from her 2013 Top 10 album ‘Join The Club’, Lucy Spraggan will release her third album ‘We Are’ on 1st May, preceded by the single ‘Unsinkable’ on 10th April, through her own label CTRL Records.

23-year-old Lucy released her record ‘Top Room At The Zoo’ in 2011. After auditioning for The X Factor in 2012 with her own track ‘Last Night’, the song reached #11 in the UK singles chart and the album entered the UK albums chart at #22. Unfortunately leaving The X Factor due to illness, Lucy came back the following year with her debut studio album ‘Join The Club’, which reached #7 in the UK albums chart.

‘Unsinkable’, the first single from her new album, is an emotive song with a heartfelt melody and dramatic electro synths that lead into a vast and captivating choir-backed chorus. The track, whilst retaining Lucy’s trademark style, is a mature offering, which showcases Lucy’s adept songwriting and strong vocal. It was co-written with Adam Argyle and Martin Brammer (James Morrison, Olly Murs) and produced by Steve Power (Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow). Listen here:

Her new album ‘We Are’ was recorded in London and features 12 tracks that are a collection of sincere ballads and inspiring folk-tinged pop songs told in Lucy’s direct storytelling style about every day life. Lucy says; “I’m very much looking forward to releasing ‘We Are’ under my own steam. The album is basically a diary of the ups and downs of the last few years; appearing on The X Factor, moving to London, working hard and changing as a person. In some ways writing this record has been a bit of documentation for me and some of the songs are pretty revealing but I’m looking forward to sharing them.”

Lucy recently toured the UK as part of the Young Voices tour, which saw her perform five nights at London’s O2 Arena, along with performing five small UK headline dates, which sold out to fans in 9 minutes. She has just announced a full UK and Ireland tour in May, with live dates are as follows:
