O’Neill launches new global brand campaign “UNREASONABLE” featuring music from the new AWOLNATION album RUN

O’Neill, the legendary surf company founded by Jack O’Neill in Santa Cruz, California, launches their new global brand campaign, “UNREASONABLE expectations since 1952.” The global campaign highlights O’Neill’s long-lasting commitment to delivering above and beyond what would be considered reasonable by anyone’s standards. “Our company was founded by bringing the very best product into the market”, said Willem Haitink, O’Neill’s Chief Executive Officer. “From inventing the first wetsuit to the creation of the first surf shop and board leash, we have a storied history of delivering product to consumers and world-class athletes that exceeds all expectations.”

The brand campaign not only highlights the UNREASONABLE nature of O’Neill’s athletes and products, but also celebrates the youth of today. “Today’s young adults don’t define themselves as just surfers, skiers or snowboarders anymore. They are interested in experiencing all that the world has to offer. They want it all and they want it now, which is totally UNREASONABLE in the very best sense of the word”, said Doug Perkul, Chief Marketing Officer for O’Neill.

The campaign kicks off today with the launch of the brand’s manifesto. To set the musical landscape of the video manifesto for UNREASONABLE, O’Neill partnered with alt-rock phenom AWOLNATION to feature the cinematic, title track “Run” from the upcoming new album due March 17 via Red Bull Records. “We are all massive fans of AWOLNATION and when we heard that Aaron was down for working with us on this project, we were beyond ecstatic. Not only does the band have the right sound for our manifesto, but Aaron is also a surfer and totally understands our ethos and way of life,” said Doug Perkul.

“Surfing and music go hand in hand. They are instinctual, rhythmic, happy, sad, heavy, soft, disappointing,
rewarding, humbling, devastating, and glorious on any given day,” said Aaron Bruno lead singer of AWOLNATION.
“Only a surfer can understand the true spiritual soul cleansing of a barrel. Whenever we are out on the road, playing
shows in front of thousands of people, I can’t help but sometimes wonder what tubes I may be missing back home.”
The video manifesto will be followed by videos featuring O’Neill’s top athletes within the worlds of surf and snow.
The campaign will culminate with the “UNREASONABLE” film festival, a chance for top filmmakers such as
Sundance Film Festival Award Winner, Stefan Nadelman to re-imagine the modern action sports film through the
lens of UNREASONABLE.

Robb Murphy brings his devilishly sexy signature style to the forefront with his soon to be released 2nd studio album, Sleep Tonight. Robb Murphy’s inimitable style derives from his background as a producer/engineer. Retaining all the hallmarks that separates him from his contemporaries in the singer-songwriter world – he has the creativity, the passion, the raw emotion and the haunting beauty that great singer songwriters are made of.

He has the unique ability to transport his listener into his musical world with a combination of stunning acoustics, sublime vocals and heartfelt lyrics. The rhythmic undercurrent of his music entices his audience to join him on a journey of traditional Irish storytelling punctuated throughout with elements of pop, country, classical and folk.

The new album, Sleep Tonight, consists of twelve original songs from Robb, each bearing testament to the organic ‘real’ sound created in Italy two years previous. the Flaws announce brand new Single: ‘That’s What You Get’ out March 6th

thats_what_you_get_jpg_4000x4000the Flaws Single: ‘That’s What You Get’ out March 6th

Gig: Whelans, March 5th

The Flaws exploded onto the Irish music scene in late 2007 when their debut long player ‘Achieving Vagueness’ was released to universal critical acclaim. It entered the Irish Top 20 and lead to both Choice and Meteor nominations. Having toured the debut for over 18 months playing some amazing shows across the country including sets at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic ’08 and Oxegen the band took a well deserved break.

In October 2010 the band released their second album ‘Constant Adventure’ to critical acclaim and with the departure of original bass player Dane McMahon
in early 2012 the band were forced into a transitional phase. With Paul Mallon picking up bass duties the band continued to perform playing particularly memorable shows in Whelan’s and The Academy in support of their one off single ‘Let’s Fight’. Unsure what to do next the band decided to take an open ended break. The band reconvened in early 2013 and began to exchange ideas. Unbeknownst to all
parties, this was to evolve into the initial phase in the writing process of their third album ‘Springtime For The Flaws’.

Combining the drive and urgency of Achieving Vagueness with the melodic sensibilities of Constant Adventure it became clear to the band that this was their best work to date. Taking matters into their own hands The Flaws decided to
record the album themselves giving themselves a creative freedom to fully express themselves without any outside interference. The results speak for themselves. Lead single, the anthemic ‘Animals’ is a prime example of the band at their most potent. Under an exterior made from solid muscle all the hallmarks of the band’s sound are there. With Colin Berrill’s relentless drum attack, Paul Mallon’s pulsing bass, the soaring harmonies, and the sumptuous melodic interplay between Paul Finn and Shane Malone’s, the bands drive is evident. Mixing duties were handled by the world renowned Marc Carloan.

The following up single ‘Thats What You Get’ is another slice of The Flaws trademark gloompop with a dash of self-deprecation for good measure. With the album due in late March 2015 and a renewed sense of purpose, this promises to be the most exciting phase of The Flaws thus far.

RON SEXSMITH ANNOUNCES CAROUSEL ONE RELEASE DATE

Ron Sexsmith - CarouselNew album to be released on Cooking Vinyl March 27th 2015 (COOKCD613)

Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith has today announced that his new studio album, Carousel One is set to be released on Friday, March 27th 2015.

Carousel One was produced by Jim Scott and features an incredible cast of studio musicians helping to bring Ron’s songs to life including bass player Bob Glaub, whose previous clients include John Lennon, Lucinda Williams, Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, Dolly Parton, Graham Nash and hundreds of others; guitarist Jon Graboff (John Lee Hooker, Dr John); drummer Don Heffington (Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Lone Justice); and keyboard player John McGinty (Dixie Chicks,Whiskeytown, Neal Casal, Matthew Sweet).  The album takes its name from the luggage retrieval belt at Los Angeles airport where bags off Toronto inbound flights are delivered.

2014 was an incredible year for Ron Sexsmith.  In March, his 2013 album Forever Endeavour won the Juno Award as Best Adult Alternative Album marking the third Juno win in Ron’s career. In April, Sir Peter Blake (the man who created the cover for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band) unveiled a mural he was commissioned to do for the Royal Albert Hall in London featuring people who have played there. Ron’s image is included alongside those of Roger Daltrey, James Brown and Janet Jackson. In May, Sexsmith was named Honorary Fellow of The Royal Conservatory in Toronto.  On June 3 he received an honorary doctorate degree from Brock University in his hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario.  It’s no wonder that in July of 2014 he was in a particularly good mood entering the studio to record Carousel One.

“I didn’t realize until we were putting the songs together for Carousel One that this would be more outgoing, there’s a lot more humour,” says Ron.  “I mean, there’s even a smiling picture on the cover, which I’ve never had before. I just hope it doesn’t scare the children.”

Carousel One features 14 new Sexsmith compositions including the first single, “Can’t Get My Act Together,” a song Ron says he started writing in Montreal and finished at home in Toronto.

“Being in a business that seems to tolerate never growing up,” Ron explains, “the song is about disappointing the ones you love. But it’s a straight up rocking kind of tune with a Kinks vibe.”

Stay tuned for more information.
