Following the release of their well-received second EP, ‘Small Mercies’, Red Empire have just finished their debut album, “Inhale”. Previously chosen as the nationwide UTV Radio Group’s ‘Select Irish Artist of the Month’, which garnered much national attention back in March 2014, the follow-up EP will not disappoint. In addition to this the band were chosen as 98FM’s ‘Home Grown Heroes’ and DCFM’s ‘Tune of the week’ and were earmarked for success on RTÉ Radio 1’s ‘John Murray Show’ and Today FM’s ‘The Mix-Up’. But perhaps most significantly the band performed live in front of a nationwide audience on RTÉ Television’s ‘The Saturday Night Show’.

The forthcoming album, which is set for a late 2014 release date, has captured the band’s trademark well-crafted melodic sound and will be preceded by a third E.P, ‘The Truth of You’. It has also received the endorsement of numerous music industry heavyweights such as John Hartmann (ex-manager of The Eagles and Sonny and Cher). ‘The Truth of You’ contains the song of the same name and two additional tracks. The two additional tracks: “Fragile”, a song recorded during the album sessions and “Life On Mars”, a Bowie cover.

Throughout the year the band, who hail from all over Dublin, have continued to play their increasingly well-known high-intensity live gigs all around Ireland and have gone down a treat at festivals such as The Westport Festival of Music and Arts, Fortstock and The Coors Light Weekender in Cork. Indieweek.com described seeing the lads play live as a “kick-ass, very energetic live show.” With an ever-growing fan base and a bourgeoning roster of gigs throughout Ireland Red Empire look set for bigger and better things. Having already played in venues like the Olympia Theatre, Vicar St and the INEC in Kerry amongst many others right throughout the country the band have proven their worth on the big stage. And with the band touted by Musicscene.ie as “serious contenders for some well-deserved attention” and “destined for a bigger and brighter future”, many commentators have noted that the Red Empire journey is only beginning.

Watch the ‘Monument’ Behind The Scenes documentary:
Röyksopp & Robyn’s ‘Do It Again’ has become this Summer’s most talked about record and live show, garnering worldwide critical praise, a sold-out tour and chart success.
As Röyksopp & Robyn come to the end of their DIA tour they bid farewell with the release of their final video – for the epic 10-minute long track ‘Monument’, the inspiring mini-album opener.
Director Max Vitali created a weightless and timeless space by shooting on a wire-based camera, drawing the viewer in on a journey of self-discovery, a central theme throughout the song. The video was produced by VICE + Intel’s The Creators Project.

“The video is about exploring the space around you and in you and finding your own space within it all. Half real, half fantasy. The way I see film is as a hybrid of technology and emotions, and hopefully there’s an artistic vision there as well. In a way that is what Röyksopp & Robyn also do, they merge something real with something computer-generated to create bigger landscapes than possible without the help of technology.” (Max Vitali)

“The video for ‘Monument’ is a kind of inner journey which I think is also what the music is about. Like space in time and physicality and your own experience of your body.” (Robyn)

“There is light and darkness colliding and it’s all being served on a lit-up platter to encapsulate this ceremony we are partaking in. It has been influenced by the iconic imagery in 70’s sci-fi comics that we grew up with.” (Svein Berge)

Röyksopp and Robyn’s ‘Do It Again’ mini-album hit #1 on the iTunes Electronic chart in over 10 countries including the UK, US, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Canada and Japan and entered the Top 10 on the iTunes Album chart in over 10 countries including the US, Australia and France with a #1 chart position in Sweden. ‘Do It Again’ entered the Official UK Album Chart mid-week at #8. The ‘Do It Again’ mini-album serves as an introduction to the new Röyksopp album. Details to be announced.

Sixteen year old Katie O’ Connor began singing at the age of five years old. That was the beginning of her journey in performance arts, as by the age of seven, she joined up to a stage school called ‘Live Wire’ where she remained up until the age of 10, an environment that nurtured her love for singing, dancing and acting. Which lead her to her first ever performance, when she was nine in the Olympia Theatre, Dublin. Where she sang a solo in the production of “Whistle down the wind”. She later performed as a dancer in two of the Jedward pantos in the Olympia theatre, recording backing vocals for most of the songs that were used in the Panto in a studio owned by David Hayes the was musical director of the show. She also recorded backing vocals with David for two songs on the legendary RTE’s Late Late Toy show!

She recorded her first song professionally with Producer Ivan Fitzpatrick when she was 12 and has been working with Ivan since then, recording a lot of covers and original songs along with Ivan’s original compositions. Katie plays Guitar and is self-taught. Her musical influences include Beyoncé, Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Johnny Cash and Dean Martin.

When Katies younger cousin became ill with Cancer, she wrote the song ‘Just Too Young’ which will be out in Oct 10th and all proceeds go towards the trust which has already raised over €120,000 towards further treatment for little Molly. Katie wrote the song when she was 15 and explains her reason behind it below:

“When you are told something that changes everything, you really don’t know what to do. You can cry, be angry, feel guilty, but doing that won’t change anything. When someone you love becomes ill, and not just ill like a flu, ill as in “this is serious”, what do you do? There are no words to describe how you feel. There is too many emotions, but all I know is you could never feel worse when you get that news. At first I didn’t know what to do, but who would? Her life now revolves around a hospital. She has lost all of her beautiful red hair. She has never lost that big smile on her face. When something like this happens you want to do every thing possible to help. This is why I wrote this song…When I started I didn’t know what to write? What to say? How to say it? As I wrote it, it seemed to just come to me, like I was telling a story and not a song. I want people to listen to this and understand what Molly is going through, and what my family is going through. It’s not fair what has happened, but now that it has, we need people to know about it. We need help. We can’t do this alone.”

The wonderfully theatric voice of Niall Boyle…

A Place In The Sun Single OUT August 22nd

A Place in the Sun is the brand new single from Co Louth singer/songwriter Niall Boyle. This is Niall’s latest single release taken from the album of the same title since 2011’s critically acclaimed Generation Game the title track of which spent two weeks in the top 30 Irish singles chart.

A Place in the Sun illustrates Niall’s mature and distinctive voice and is a skilfully crafted original song with great melodies, a catchy chorus and lyrics that are both heartfelt and topical- just in time for the heat waves of this Summer!

The album was recorded and produced by Dave McCune and features acclaimed guest musicians such as Maire Ni Breathnach and Michael Buckley. When it comes to emotional ballads Niall is a master craftsman. The album’s title track shows off Niall at his very best. This is a song you’ll be singing to yourself for weeks after hearing it. The album is littered with powerful ballads, catchy hooks and clever lyrics.
