RÖYKSOPP & ROBYN PREMIERE ‘DO IT AGAIN’ VIDEO

Röyksopp and Robyn premiere their ‘Do It Again’ video on VEVO. ‘Do It Again’ is the first single to be taken from the critically- acclaimed ‘Do It Again’ mini-album out now on Dog Triumph via Wall of Sound and Cooking Vinyl.

Watch ‘Do It Again’ here:

The video for “Do It Again” was shot in Mexico by award-winning Danish filmmaker Martin de Thurah. The short film is called “Our Hearts’ Desires” and is set in an unspecified era where a revolution is in the making. It tells the story of desire, ecstasy and forbidden love.  Says de Thurah, “Do It Again’ feels like it’s an unstoppable pop mantra of something out of hand. A spiralling hypnotic maelstrom. The video touches ‘our hearts’ desires’:  deep passions; revolutions full of hope and excitement; a dream of freedom; obsession; the ecstasy and escapism; the darkness. And it ends in a mix of violence and laughter, freedom and the loss of free will. All of this somehow ends on a note of hope through struggle. Something worth fighting for. Do it again.”  Read more about the the collaboration between Martin de Thurah, Röyksopp & Robyn on Dazed Digital.

Svein Berge from Röyksopp adds “I feel that the video in a clever way manages to emphasize one of the main themes of the song – doing something that might be considered morally wrong, and yet going through with it, fully aware of the consequences and potential repercussions. Some of these actions are driven by choice – others by necessity.” Robyn concurs, saying, “I´m pleased that, for me, the video stirs up a feeling of chaos which is what we talked about quite a bit when we wrote ‘Do It Again.’ Life takes you to a critical point and even though it might not make you happy, when it´s over, you want to go back.” Adds Röyksopp’s Torbjørn Brundtland, “Being there on these locations, the crew, the actors and the locals made it an unforgettable experience. Oh, and yes, in a good way, I might add.”

Röyksopp and Robyn are currently playing their sold-out “Do It Again” tour with dates throughout Europe, Scandinavia, America and Canada. “Robyn and Röyksopp leave the Bowl dancing, and far from alone.” (Los Angeles Times)

Röyksopp and Robyn’s “Do It Again” mini-album hit #1 on the iTunes Electronic chart in over 10 countries including the UK, U.S, Germany, Sweden, Holland, Canada and Japan and entered Top 10 on the iTunes Album chart in over 10 countries including U.S, Australia and France with a #1 chart position in Sweden. “Do It Again” entered the Official UK Album Chart mid week at #8.The “Do It Again” mini-album serves as an introduction to the new Röyksopp album. ALI CAMPBELL- THE LEGENDARY VOICE OF UB40 – REUNITED WITH ASTRO & MICKEY

: SILHOUETTE THE NEW SINGLE RELEASED 15TH AUGUST ON COOKING VINYL

FROM NEW ALBUM ALSO TITLED ‘SILHOUETTE’ RELEASED OCTOBER 3rd

Ali Campbell - Silhouette (the legendary voice of UB40 reunited with Ast...

Silhouette is the new single from Ali Campbell, the legendary voice of UB40 reunited with Astro & Mickey, released 15th August on Cooking Vinyl. The single is the title track from Silhouette, the new album out October 3rd. Recorded in London’s renowned RAK Studios, the album is an inspired mix of freshly-minted new songs and sparkling, reggaefied cover versions of classics by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Chi-Lites and others. The track Silhouette was originally a 1957 hit for the American doo-wop group The Rays, though this new, yearning take, owes more to an early 1970s version by the crown prince of reggae, the late Dennis Brown. The single will get its radio premiere this Sunday July 20th on Weekend Wogan, BBC Radio 2, 11am – 1pm.

As founding members of UB40, Ali, Mickey and Astro helped to define reggae music for a generation. The iconic Birmingham reggae troupe topped the UK singles chart on three occasions and sold 70 million records as they took their smooth yet rootsy musical blend to all corners of the globe. Campbell left the band in 2008 after 29 years and has since released four reggae-themed solo collections, with Mickey, who left UB40 soon after Ali, joining him on keys. Astro remained with the band until November 2013, when he left to team up again with Ali and Mickey.

Ali’s voice remains as strong as ever – rich, melodic and instantly recognisable. “He’s a genius in the way he can work a set of lyrics around a great melody,” says Mickey. “Any song he sings could easily be a UB40 tune.”

With the redoubtable Astro lending strong vocal support and Mickey’s keyboards to the fore in a new band that includes a three-piece horn section, their lithe but potent sound should delight fans old and new. Having reiterated their credentials as consummate live performers with triumphant gigs this year in places as far flung as Nigeria, South Africa and Papua New Guinea, the trio have a quartet of UK festivals dates this summer and will embark on a headline tour in December. In April next year, they will play Brixton Academy followed by a huge homecoming show at Birmingham NIA.

“When we play live now, it feels like a real group,” says Ali. “The musicians in our band have all played with other reggae acts, so they love what we’re doing. And the fact that Astro is back with us after six years speaks volumes about the music we are making.”

Live IRISH TOUR DATES JUST ANNOUNCED:

22nd October 2014, Olympia , Dublin, Ireland

23rd October 2014, Limelight, Belfast, Northern Ireland

Adam Cohen new album + Irish tour dates announcement

Adam Cohen new album + Irish tour dates announcement :

Cyprus Avenue in Cork on October 18th

Whelans in Dublin on October 19th

“I thought I’d learned my lesson on the last record. A pretty towering lesson. That what’s most important to me are my roots, my family, my home and ultimately ‘knowing thyself’.”

Three years ago and three albums into a career that began with his 1998 self-titled debut, Cohen decided that he and the music business should call it quits. Talked into giving it one last go, he released his best and biggest album to date. Like A Man (2011) was an elegant, intimate beauty. His songs, performed on a nylon-string guitar, both had a deep connection and engaged in deep personal conversation with one of his greatest musical influences, Leonard Cohen. Adam’s father. As MOJO said, this was an album in which Adam Cohen “set about a quiet rapprochement with his DNA.” It was also, as Leonard Cohen said, an album of “world-class love songs.” A critical and commercial success, it brought Adam a gold album, a long world tour and great anticipation for the follow-up.

In a break between concerts, he went into the studio and emerged with a new album, which he scrapped. It didn’t feel honest. ” I realized that I needed desperate measures to keep me honest and also to relieve me of the anxiety of following up the only successful record I’ve ever made. However deliciously I had been in orbit, touring with that record, I needed to tap into something more terrestrial, more rooted and real.”

We Go Home, Cohen’s fifth album, is by all definitions homemade. He recorded his songs in rooms as familiar to him as his name. Since the band was playing in Europe, Adam decided to set up shop in the little white house on the Greek island of Hydra where he had spent much of his childhood. “Making an album in the comfort of home on makeshift equipment with this band of touring musicians who had become my family – barefoot, sometimes wearing nothing more than a swimsuit or bath robe – immediately offered a beacon of hope that no studio, or session players or priceless gear ever could.” They continued recording in Montreal, where Adam was born, in the house where he spent his earliest years. “I knew I was painting a target on my back, making my album in the so-called homes of Leonard Cohen, but they’re my homes too. These are the walls that saw me grow up the most and that I needed to come back to. My muse is my home”

Some of the themes on We Go Home continue the conversation that Like A Man began. “I want the songs to speak for themselves”, says Cohen, “but what I can say is that the songs on this record mostly chronicle conversations I’ve either had with my old man, or want to have with my boy”, Adam’s seven-year-old son Cassius, “and a few conversations I’m having with myself. And, of course, there are love songs.” What’s different is the tone—richer and fuller this time, more diverse, making the most of the three-piece band and three-piece string section from his tour. The nylon-string guitar is still there, but there are also piano songs – the title track’s tenderness and self-mocking humour recalling Cohen’s other great musical influences Randy Newman.

“My last album was about me finally claiming my belonging to a tradition and finding my voice within that tradition. My new album,” Adam Cohen states, “is about me raising my voice.”

We Go Home is released in September. Adam Cohen’s European tour, featuring the band and string section, begins in Denmark, culminating in a concert at London’s Bush Hall on 15th October.

The wonderful new video from Fink. #lookingtooclosely

Artist social links:

Tour dates: http://www.finkworld.co.uk/store/

Directors Wulf & Lamm say of the video:
We took a literal approach to ‘Looking Too Closely’
The story starts with a microscopic view and emerges to an extreme long shot using a camera attached to a drone. Nothing is like it seems to be, unless you see the full picture. With this concept, we are connecting the technical course of action with regards to the content and a twist.
To begin with, we captured microscopic images of Fin, which will generate an unusual cinematic language. Starting with his beard, we show detailed shots of indivi-
dual hairs. By using macro lenses, each hair appears grand and gigantic, reminding of a forest. Arm hairs lift up. Continued with his eyes, his iris will fill out the entire screen, mighty eyelashes flapping, a field of pores lies before us. Huge nostrils, followed by the corners of his mouth and pulsating veins. We go in between nature and body. Small elements of the naturalistic surroundings, captured through a microscopic view. Blades of grass, appearing enormous and the massive drop of dew on a leaf. A super close up of his guitar and a swinging string. In time, we distance ourselves more and more from the scene, revealing Fin and the band. At first, it appears as if they would be surrounded by an endless nature until we take a step back. The further away we go, more is revealed. Fin and the band standing on a small island of green surrounded by an urban world. Eventually the camera is leaving the scene behind and is flying away.
