Various artists: Mark Lamarr’s Rhythm & Blues Christmas- Out Now!

“A satisfying blend of hits and obscurities ranging from blues to jazz, but predominantly R&B”

With Shake, Rattle And Roll, The Beginners Guide To Reggae and Alternative ’60s under his belt, Mark Lamarr’s current Radio 2 slots are the self-explanatory Shake, Rattle And Roll and God’s Jukebox, an eclectic mix of hip hop, funk, country and gospel. Mark is also regularly called upon to present a radio show on Christmas Day and it is the R&B, blues, doo wop and jazz element of that show that is reflected in this selection of favourites drawn from his own collection.

The Ravens’ “White Christmas” and Mabel Scott’s “Boogie Woogie Santa Claus” reached #9 and #12 respectively on the R&B chart over the 1948 Christmas holiday period; Felix Gross’s “Love For Christmas” and The Oriole’s “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” both peaked at #9 a year later; and “Far Away Blues (Xmas Blues)”, which featured Little Esther and Mel Walker singing with the Johnny Otis Orchestra, was a #6 hit in 1950. The remainder of Mark’s selection is a mixture of familiar names (The Moonglows, Joe Turner, Jimmy Witherspoon, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Louis Armstrong, among others) and a smattering of less well known artists, all conspiring to make your seasonal holiday a Rhythm & Blues Christmas to remember. Check out: http://soundcloud.com/fantasticvoyage/louis-armstrong-cool-yule

THE FRANK AND WALTERS Release new Xmas Single ‘Song for a Future Love’ Dec 10th

THE FRANK & WALTERS:

THE FRANK AND WALTERS
Release new Single ‘Song for a Future Love’
On Dec 10th 2010 (FIFA RECORDS)
Official stream link here:
Song for a Future Love- the Frank & Walters by GoodSeedPR

And so it ends, 2010. The Parson rode his bicycle with all the urgency of Spring, we got to Let It Out for those glorious two weeks of the Summer and The Clock ticked ominously as the Autumnal chill drifted in.

It’s Winter now, the seasons change, we change, and God knows the world has changed. Christmas can be the best of times, and the worst of times. But as always, there is hope.

The Future, what will it hold? Song For A Future Love, the last of the bands seasonal releases, closes out the year in true epic style. With long time collaborator Dave Couse back in the production hotseat, The Frank And Walters give us a song that soars above the grind of the mundane and sparkles brightly in the cold crisp December sky.

And so it ends, 2010. We stand ready for the Future.

THE BAND: The Frank and Walters are one of the most recognizable alternative rock bands hailing from Cork, Ireland in the past 2 decades. The band: Paul Linehan (Lead vocal & bass), Ashley Keating- (Drums) & Kevin Pedreschi (lead Guitar) took the band name in honor of two eccentric Cork characters. Two decades on from the release of their very first record, and the Franks continue to defy expectations.

With Indie hits such as ‘Fashion Crisis Hits New York’ & ‘After All’ (which reached the top twenty in the UK Singles Chart, where it peaked at #11. The group also appeared on Top of the Pops in support of the single; it went as high as #5 in the Irish charts). Their music today is as relevant as any of the new pretenders on the block and only a handful of bands anywhere in the world can lay claim to such longevity of popularity. NEWS:: Eleanor McEvoy exclusive stream: SHIBBOLETH: captures ‘A devastating economic crisis’

‘EXCLUSIVE LIVE STREAM’

From ELEANOR MCEVOY// Track: ‘SHIBBOLETH’ (3.02)

LINK TO STREAM HERE: http://bit.ly/f5PsAY

Taken from the new album: I’d rather go blonde (out now)

“This absolutely stunning album, has been a real find – one of the most compelling female singer-songwriters I’ve heard in a long time.” – MAVERICK*****

“…A sonic Gem.”- THE EVENING HERALD

” ..ambitious surging crescendos of tracks that straddles the boundaries of trad/folk “- The Irish Times

When Eleanor began write her new album, I’d Rather Go Blonde, Ireland was in the grips of severe winter weather and a devastating economic crisis. The 6th song on the album, Shibboleth, is especially relevant in light of the news of the bailout of the Irish government this week.

Eleanor described Shibboleth recently: “What I did with that was a trick on what the old traditional Irish songs used to do where you weren’t allowed to talk about the conflict, or England, so they used to talk about Ireland as woman. I’m doing the same in Shibboleth. I’m singing as if it’s a person: ‘Mo ghra, mo chraoi, mo cuisle/How hard it is to see/ A mhuirin, they have brought you to your knees.’ But I’m actually singing about Ireland”.

A rather beguiling song, only too fitting for the time that is in it. With the current state of Ireland’s economic unsettlement, ‘Shibboleth’ attempts to transpire across the routes which took the small country from boom to bust.

Captured in her unique panache and evocative song writing elegance, on ‘Shibboleth’, Eleanor “combines anger and empathy in a stunning poetic bravura performance”. (THE EVENING HERALD)

McEvoy Concludes: “I wrote the track this year in loving sadness of what they’ve done to my beautiful country…….It seems to have grown in relevancy in the intervening months”.

Lyrics below:

‘Shibboleth’

-(E. McEvoy)

Your beauty in the spotlight

It was something to behold

A final hope of something good

A pool of solid gold

Mo ghra, mo chroi, mo chuisle

How hard it is to see

A mhuirnin, they have brought you to your knees

You Riverdanced around the world

A shining shibboleth

You dared to take the breath away

Of everyone you met

Mo ghra, mo chroi, mo chuisle

How hard it is to see

A mhuirnin, they have brought you to your knees

The rains that you’re so famous for

I’ve only realised

Are just the tears you fail to keep

Cascading from your eyes

Mo ghra, mo chroi, mo chuisle

How hard it is to see

A mhuirnin, they have brought you to your knees

Mo ghra, mo chroi, mo chuisle

How hard it is to see

A mhuirnin, they have brought you to your knees

NEWS::: COOKING VINYL SIGNS MARILYN MANSON

Cooking Vinyl Sign Marilyn Manson

· Global Record Deal For Controversial 50m Selling Artist

· Marilyn Manson to Launch Own Label – Hell, etc.

· In Joint Venture With Cooking Vinyl

8th November 2010, London:- Cooking Vinyl Records has signed the world’s most controversial artist, Marilyn Manson.

Having already sold over 50 million records worldwide, Cooking Vinyl overcame fierce competition from several labels in the US and UK, both major and independent, to release what will be Marilyn Manson’s eighth studio album.

The global deal will see the album issued via Marilyn Manson’s own label – Hell, etc. – in a joint venture between Cooking Vinyl, with the album slated for release in 2011.

Parting ways with Interscope Records, the new partnership with Cooking Vinyl gives Marilyn Manson an unprecedented degree of creative control. The new set up will see the artist take charge of delivering the completed, mastered album and Cooking Vinyl handling worldwide distribution, marketing and promotion.

Famed for his originality and style, not only in the studio and on stage but also in his elaborate video and thought-provoking film-making, the latest studio instalment will again pair up Manson and Twiggy Ramirez.

Manson had this to say: “We will always be our worst audience, until we stop being an audience and start being an artist. Any art is flesh and blood, no matter how you perform, decorate or display it.  But we all want the passionate horror of that blood. And blood is what I am here to bring.”

The deal is a landmark signing for Cooking Vinyl, and follows the company’s huge commercial success with The Prodigy, whose Invaders Must Die was the best selling independent release in the UK and Europe in 2009.

Cooking Vinyl founder Martin Goldschmidt added “We’re delighted to welcome Marilyn Manson to Cooking Vinyl. Often our “relaxed” approach to A&R brings out killer performances and albums from artists. I can’t wait to hear what Manson comes up with.  This is a landmark signing for us.  We shook up folk music in the late 80’s/90’s with Michelle Shocked, Cowboy Junkies and Billy Bragg, we have shaken up dance in the last couple of years with The Prodigy, Groove Armada and Underworld, and we are ready for a new adventure with Mr. Manson.”

Marilyn Manson has had astounding success across the globe with numerous sales awards, including three albums being certified platinum and three more certified gold in the USA, in addition to three top ten albums and two number-one albums (Mechanical Animals and The Golden Age of Grotesque).

Originally signed to Nothing Records, a subsidiary of Interscope Records, they released the studio album Portrait of an American Family (1994), Smells Like Children (1995),Antichrist Superstar (1996), Mechanical Animals (1998), Holywood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) (2000), The Golden Age of Grotesque (2003), Lest We Forget: Best Of (2004), Eat Me, Drink Me (2007) and The High End of Low (2009).

Lest We Forget: Best Of entered the top ten in the Billboard 200 and to date has sold over one million copies in the US alone.

More details will be revealed in due course.
