NICK HOWARD

Single//  ‘FALLING FOR YOU’ out Nov 26th

FT. ‘The Pressure’ as used The Hills and Jersey Shore on MTV

There’s a little something special about Nick Howard. As an Award winning British Singer Songwriter, he produces a mild folk/pop sound that beckons toward a brave, new, post-emotional future. Quite evident in his latest Single release: ‘Falling For You’. Effortlessly excelling at creating gentle background music that sways like the waves and feels twice as cool – Its no co-incidence then that his debut album ’Something To Talk About’ achieved critical acclaim upon its release.

Going the best route you can take with your music, his songs have been featured in scores of TV shows and Films including: The Hills, Jersey Shore, Cougar Town, 90210,LA Ink, Greek, Army Wives and countless others. He has performed live on TV shows such as Fox’s Fearless music, NBC’s Non-Stop New York and Comcast’s Backstage. His song ‘A Better Man’ broke into the US radio charts and he was featured as an ‘Artist To Watch’ by Clear Channel’s ‘Discover New Music’ campaign in 2009.

Howard earned for himself thousands of new fans in the last 12 months, when he toured and supported artists such as Gavin DeGraw, Lifehouse, Jack Johnson andCounting Crows. He recently started work on a follow up LP with producer Marshal Altman, (Natasha Bedingfield and Matt Nathanson) and is set to release the first single’Falling For You’ on the 26th of November in Ireland.

Nick’s popularity in his native Europe has gained huge traction since touring there for the first time early in 2010 with ‘Boyce Avenue’, which has led to his own tour in February of 2011, a tour that will also include dates in France, Holland, Germany, Ireland and the UK. Nick played to 700 fans at the Dublin Academy in March while on tour with Boyce Avenue and is looking forward to returning.

Nick has also partnered with several brands and vendors in the last two years on various products and events. Some of these include Tommy Hilfiger, Vogue, Apple, Chipotle, Scoop and Nokia and have helped to increase Nick’s visibility and popularity worldwide. Bose recently chose Nick’s song ‘I Don’t Really Care’ as the theme songs to their next wave of commercial advertising.

Gig News:: ‘John, Shelly & the Creatures’ to perform at Toys 4 big Boys on November 13th.

Belfast Foursome
John, Shelly & the Creatures will be performing atTOYS 4 BIG BOYS at the RDS in November on the 13th at 2pm, performing songs from their critically acclaimed album DINOSAUR.

Earlier this year t he Northern Irish Tourist Board launched a phase of TV adverts that featured the bands single (from the debut album Dinosuar) tilted Long May You Reign as the title music on the advert. From statistics, the Advert has been the most successful Tv advert they have had on the NITB, so they were asked to go back into the studio last month to record a new version of the song, for the more laid back Autumn/Winter season. Now, there is a completely new advert being aired. There is a 10 second, 30 second and 60 second version on TV now. There is also a 60 second radio advert which features an instrumental version. They all feature a newly arranged and recorded version of Long May You Reign which will be a special b-side to the band’s new single SUNNY SIDE STREET which will be release in November.

Being propelled into the spotlight this year, the band have performed on The Late Late Show,The Eleventh Hour with Dave Fanning, Tg4, BBC TWO, RTE Two, and at Dublin’s RDS to over 20,0000 people. Injecting vital fuel into the JSATC machine, the success of the single (which was picked for the ad over Greenday if you don’t mind) has buoyed the band, not only heightening their profile across the island, but affording them the comforts of a new tour van, and helping them fulfill a packed touring schedule over the past few month and in the coming weeks the band go back on the road. So do not miss out on their special performance at The RDS Toys 4 Big Boys show in November!

Toys 4 Big Boys 2010 is shaping up to be an unbelievable show with all your favourites and much much more.

The Orb & Youth present:IMPOSSIBLE ODDITIES- Mr Modo // Out Oct 22nd

by admin on October 13, 2010 in with no comments

YEAR ZERO EXCLUSIVE RELEASE:

Various Artists: The Orb & Youth present:

IMPOSSIBLE ODDITIES

Mr Modo // Out Oct 22nd

W.A.U!. Mr Modo was the product of likeminded music freaks and lifelong friends Youth and Dr Alex Paterson setting out to celebrate and play their part in the acid house revolution sweeping the UK in the late 80s. In the process, they became two of the most well-known and lastingly influential names to emerge from the whole movement, while the label epitomises the innocence and questing spirit of the era. When Youth played bass in apocalyptic post-punk band Killing Joke, Alex was a roadie, prone to leaping onstage and singing Stooges songs in the encores. When Youth left the Joke, the pair found their musical outlooks swiveled by tapes of New York’s dance music radio stations and their jaw-dropping mastermixes.

‘We wanted to form a label after spending 1986-87 listening to the likes of Tony Humphries’ adds Alex.  The first Orb single, recorded at KLF’s Transcentral squat HQ, was a homage to KISS FM., called The Kiss EP. Meanwhile Alex and Youth started demoing a song they called ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’ [a never-before heard version which opens this compilation].

After hooking up with former Killing Joke road manager Adam Morris [aka Mr Modo], the label became known as W.A.U!. Mr Modo. The music started flowing freely as names including STP Twentythree [Alex and Jimmy], Insync, Paradise X and Lyndsey Holloday recorded there. ‘We set about sampling our record collections and creating new music with a new vocabulary,’ recalls Youth. ‘This extended further with the Orb and KLF, where Alex’s genius was soon realised by his amazing sound collage abilities, where we practically got rid of all musicians and created entire tracks from collaging other records.’

The two CDs also feature the cream of the early W.A.U. releases; a stellar collection of half-forgotten names from the acid house archives [several featuring Alex and Youth], including STP Twentythree, Eternity, Discotec 2000, Delkom, Johnson Dean, U.N.C.L.E., Paradise X, Sun Electric, Indica All Stars, Mystic Knights, Insync, Sound Iration and Zoe, with ’Sunshine On A Rainy Day’, one of the label’s biggest hits.

The recordings here can now be considered the acid house equivalent of Alan Lomax’s field blues recordings or compilations of DIY bedroom punk; snapshots of seminal moments in musical history. In many ways, acid house was like punk rock all over again; like that movement, Youth and Alex were again in the thick of it but soon out front, leaders of the field within a very short time. This is where it all started.

To accompany this celebration of the label, this must-have, collectors package includes a fold out scrap book poster of press cuttings from the time unearthed from Paterson’s personal archive as well as iconic cover art from Jimmy Cauty.
