RELEASE NEW SINGLE: ‘SEA SAW’ ON FRI JULY 2nd July

Fast receiving airtime across the radio waves in Ireland on the lead up to their new single SEE SAW, the infectious Irish pop outfit ‘JESTER’, know how to create melodious, ambient and powerful pop tunes.

They entered onto the music scene on a rather high note in 07 when debut single “Maria” charted in the IMRA Top 40 Irish Chart. Single no.2 also seen them climb the charts with “Scream” reaching a proud No.18 in the IRMA Irish Singles chart and also claimed the Number 1 spot in the Downloads chart. The release was marked by an extensive Nation wide tour schedule. (Including a month long tour with fellow Irish act The Blizzards).

Playing in some of Ireland’s most prestigious venues and clocking up some ground support along the way, Jester are a 5 piece band who “know how to take a song on the town & show it a good time” ( Hotpress) On the live front Jester have shared the stage with some of Ireland’s top acts and luminaries (Including: The Blizzards and Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club). Festivals appearances include: Cois Farraige Festival & Oxegen (07). They just recently played at The Sea Sessions and have a list of National dates still on the calendar over the summer months.

Jester are currently recording their debut album and aim to complete a commercial but distinctive record, prior to this they will release single ‘SEA SAW’ in July 2010.

THE CHARLATANS: NEW ALBUM ‘WHO WE TOUCH’ (COOKCD527) RELEASED 10/09/10
RADIO SINGLE: ‘Love Is Ending’ is released on July 30th.
ALBUM: ‘Who We Touch’ is released on September 10th.

With a career that has already spanned two decades, The Charlatans – Martin Blunt (bass), Jon Brookes (drums), Tim Burgess (vocals), Mark Collins (guitar) and Tony Rogers (keyboards) – release their new album ‘Who We Touch’, on September 10th 2010.

Their eleventh studio album, ‘Who We Touch’ was produced by Youth (Paul McCartney, Primal Scream and The Verve) and was recorded at Britannia Row in London, on the desk that New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’ was recorded on. Featuring eleven tracks, the album must surely rank as their boldest to date radically broadening, in places, their aesthetic remit. It is, says Burgess, “a soulful voyage”, a journey through moods uplifting and profound, dark and delirious, ultimately concluding in blissful optimism. Its sound is inspired by many heroes, yet always sounds like no-one other than The Charlatans themselves.

Opener, ‘Love Is Ending’, is the first single to be taken from the album, released on July 30th. ‘Oh!’ is a beautiful song of reconciliation, as complex as its shifting time signatures (one section is in 3/4 waltz time), and then ‘You Can Swim’, an exquisite ooze of ambience, reminiscent of ‘Another Green World’-era Eno, with whose creative ideas the album began. Lurking at the end of the album is hidden track ‘I Sing The Body Eclectic’ featuring Crass’s Penny Rimbauld on vocals. Gee Vaucher who did the iconic artwork for all of Crass’s releases, also provides ‘Who We Touch’ with it’s eerie collaged cover image.

The Frank and Walters are one of the most recognizable alternative rock bands hailing from Cork, Ireland in the past 2 decades. Fresh from a critically acclaimed spring tour, Sandi Thom announces the second single ‘Gold Dust’, taken from her 3rd studio album ‘Merchants & Thieves’.

‘Released as a download only single on July 16th, it’s a double A-side featuring a reworking of “Gold Dust” entitled “Gold Dust (Smoking Gun Remix)” plus a Sandi and Joe Bonamassa’s cover of the blues classic “I Need Your Love So Bad”.

Written by Sandi and Jake Field, ‘Gold Dust’ is inspired by Fleetwood Mac’s Black Magic Woman and tells the story of love and regret. Filled with beautifully seductive yet poetically sad lyrics, Sandi bills this song as the most evocative on the album and it’s not hard to see why.

The original of ‘Gold Dust’ is from the album “Merchants & Thieves”, which was released in May and reached No.1 in the UK iTunes Blues Chart and the top 5 of the same chart in the U.S. The album showcases a new sound from Sandi Thom, bringing to light her passion for blues and country folk. The album brilliantly reflects her influences in these genres as well as retaining her innate feeling for a powerful melody and a trenchant lyric. Sandi also debut’s her lead guitar skills throughout the album and even had the privilege of Farida Guitars producing a signature model acoustic guitar for her. Their SF-55 CE is now known as the Farida Sandi Thom. What an honor!

‘Merchants & Thieves’ also boasts collaboration with the blues legend Joe Bonamassa on ‘This Ol World’, which was the 1st single to be released from the album. There really is no better endorsement than his presence on the album, which Sandi called a “watershed moment” and is as lithe and lively a piece of contemporary blues as you’ll hear all year.
