R.I.P Gerry Ryan, you will be missed.
by admin on Apr.30, 2010, under Latest News
We have just learned at 2pm today that legendary Irish broadcaster Gerry Ryan has been found dead in his Leeson Street apartment from a suspected heart attack after he failed to show up for his radio show this morning.
Ryan (53) failed to show up this morning for the 2fm radio show he has presented since 1988. The cause of death is unknown at present. Gardaí are investigating but foul play is not suspected. Ryan was consistently one of RTÉ’s most popular presenters, and will be a massive loss to Irish Radio.
All the staff at Good Seed PR wish to extend their condolences to his family and friends and to all his faithful listeners and to the staff in RTE on this very sad time.
How awfully tragic and sad.
In our prayers Gerry,
All the gang in GSPR xxxx
Eleanor McEvoy in protest on Irish Railway

ELEANOR MCEVOY is helping the campaign against rail-line closure.
The cover of Eleanor McEvoy’s Yola album and the title of one of its songs ‘Isn’t It A Little Late?’ are being used to spearhead a public protest campaign against the planned closure of the Rosslare-Waterford train service.
The cover of Yola was shot on Bridgetown railway station, which is one of the stations that won’t be served by any train if the closure goes ahead. The station building, which can be seen with a guitar-wielding McEvoy standing beside it, has already been demolished.
A ‘Save The Rosslare to Waterford Rail Line’ Facebook page has also been launched at http://bit.ly/bsVkhQ

MEG HUTCHINSON- WHELAN’S- TONIGHT.

MEG HUTCHINSON||the living side – May 28th
Called a “master of introspective ballads” (Performing Songwriter), award-winning acoustic songwriter Meg Hutchinson brings a poet’s sensibility to everyday scenes, painting a vivid picture of the way America lives today, giving us her most political and personal album to date – THE LIVING SIDE. Upon its initial release the Album reached #8 on iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart, #5 on Amazon Hot New Folk Albums and is currently #32 on the BILLBOARD Folk Chart (Climbing)
Meg Hutchinson takes us on a musical journey deep within her life, where we see our own lives reflected back at us. Turning her poet’s eye toward these uncertain times with that same honest, closely observed perspective from which she charts her most intimate songs, she asks the questions that plague all of us. “I think of this album as a conversation,” Hutchinson says. “These songs are full of questions, and I’ve tried to leave space for the listeners to answer.”
Hutchinson’s songs begin with vivid, naturalistic images, of apple orchards and trailer parks, stark factory towns and the Statue of Liberty. But she is guiding us to more intimate places, exploring how we feel in this time of fast and frightening change. Whether singing about technology, billion dollar bailouts or global warming, Meg Hutchinson makes these big issues personal by showing how they affect our everyday lives. She goes beyond the casual observation of current events and explores the emotion behind the experiences, bringing the characters’ inner lives out into the open, as is evident in the tracks “Being Happy” and “Gatekeeper.”
These songs were brought to life with the help of veteran producer Crit Harmon (Lori McKenna, Mary Gauthier, Martin Sexton), who worked with Hutchinson on her last critically acclaimed album COME UP FULL. Keeping Hutchinson’s vocals at the center of the recording, Harmon brought in some of New England’s best and busiest session players including Kevin Barry (guitars), Richard Gates (bass), and Brad Hatfield (keyboards, string arrangements). With moody wurlitzer and lush strings, THE LIVING SIDE is cinematic and hopeful – a hypnotic musical ourney that takes on new emotional meaning with every listen and encourages us to choose the living side.

GROOVE ARMADA RELEASE AA NEW SINGLE
‘Look Me In The Eye Sister/Just For Tonight’- Both Tracks Featuring Jess Larrabee
New AA-Side Single Out April 26th
On ‘Work It’ Recordings In Partnership With Cooking Vinyl
Plus Major Festival Dates Announced
-V, Oxygen, T in the park, The Great Escape -
Groove Armada – Andy Cato and Tom Findlay – release a wicked double-punch AA-side single ‘Look Me In The Eye Sister/Just For Tonight’ on April 26th. Both tracks are taken from their fifth studio album ‘Black Light’, which is widely considered among their best work to date (“SHOULD FILL EVERY DANCE FLOOR ON THE PLANET” ***** THE SUN, “A REVELATION” **** UNCUT, “A BOLD STEP FORWARD” **** Q, “THEIR BEST ALBUM” **** SUNDAY TIMES).
Both written and produced by Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, ‘Look Me In The Eye Sister’ is a spiky, beefed-up slab of Yeah Yeah Yeahs-style electro-rock while ‘Just For Tonight’ is the album’s gorgeous mellow gem. “We’ve decided to go for a double A-side, as much as those things exist in the digital world,” says Andy. “We’re being a bit contrary there because apparently ‘History’ is currently the most downloaded individual track.”
Both feature guest vocals from Jess Larrabee of Brooklyn folk/blues duo She Keeps Bees, whom Groove Armada have yet to meet. “We got really into her albums and started emailing tracks for her to add vocals,” says Andy. “Her music usually has more of a White Stripes kind of vibe. She got really into the disco flavour and absolutely nailed it.”
The release – available to buy digitally – also includes remixes of ‘Look Me In The Eye Sister’ by Urchins, Audiojack and Morten Sorensen.
The track listings for the two digital singles are:
Look Me In The Eye Sister
Look Me In The Eye Sister (Urchins Mix)
Look Me In The Eye Sister (Audiojack Mix)
Look Me In The Eye Sister (Morten Sorensen Mix)
Just For Tonight
Groove Armada bring their blissful party vibe to the Great Escape festival in Brighton (May 13th-15th) and to 3 other major festival dates this summer at T in the Park (July 9th-11th), Oxegen (July 9th-11th) and V Festival (August 20th-22nd). “V’s going to be interesting,” says Andy, “because we’re going on before Cheryl Cole. All I can say is “Good luck Cheryl!”
